Yeah, I'm 5' 5" and it's been a loooong time since I was 125. Probably high school. 145 seems about ideal for me. That's where I was last summer, but I gained 25 pounds in the past year. Part of the reason I'm sitting at the doctors office all the time going WTH?? FIX THIS!

My body doesn't like peas. Or sweet potatoes, or black beans... sorry. I was meant to be a carnivore. I can be smart about it, but I need lean animal protein. Now dairy I should definitely live without. As much as I love the taste of black beans, my body does not like it either.

About 15 yrs ago my mom was having some skin issues. She went to this doctor guy who took her off dairy, meat, some other things - I can't remember.
What I do remember is that she was eating cheese that looked like cheese but was non-dairy and had all kinds of weird things in it that made it "cheese" looking.
It reminded me of Kosher bacon.
I am no scientist or health professional, but I can not imagine eating foods that look like it's suppose to be one thing but actually something else entirely. And I am very skeptical of the health benefits of such things...
I am certainly not against science and research improving things, but I don't see myself saying yes to tofu steaks any time soon

I'm just a smidge under 5-7, and I'd love to get back to 127, but that's a stretch goal. At this point, I'd love to get to 147. I'm pretty close, but can't seem to break out of the 150's. I think I looked fine at 127 back in the day. I seemed borderline anorexic at 120, though, but I still wore a size 6 at that weight.

I'm 5'5" and at 145 I was a size 8 (still am, just a few pounds more). I'd imagine that I'd be a size 4 or 6 at 127. Doesn't seem like the worst thing in the world! But again, just me.

I am certainly not against science and research improving things, but I don't see myself saying yes to tofu steaks any time soon I feel the same way about substitutions for things like bacon and cheese. I was reading a cookbook and every single recipe had some sort of substitution. I read the ingredient lists for some of the products they named and I can't be convinced that eating something with an ingredient list that looks like a page out of my lab notebook is somehow better for me than the real thing. At the very least I don't think you should be eating it for breakfast/lunch/dinner every single day. If I am going eat tofu I will buy a block of tofu. Processed food is still processed food regardless of the original source material. I will NEVER eat turkey bacon or chicken bacon after DH told me what has to go into making those meats into "bacon". I'll just eat less real bacon or give it up entirely.

Eh, it would probably look decent on me too, but I like food a lot so that's not going to happen.

It's been a miserable year plus.

what have you been doing in the meantime? When I stopped running I would just walk or ride my bike (couldn't do more than 10 miles though) instead. After my surgery in February, I've been in PT twice a week and doing my home exercises, plus had my bike on the trainer. Now that my hip strength is better holy crap do I need my flexibility back!

You are also two inches shorter which does make a difference. That would be the equivalent of 137 to someone like Athena who is 5'7'.

Because I know I'm two inches shorter.

Everyone's structure is different. I am 5'5" and look fantastic around 120! Sadly, there's not what I am weighing in at these days. I look okay up to about 134. Above that, I look porky.
And count me with those that does not like food that is pretending to be a different food!

I'm 5'9" and when I dropped to 140, I looked great but my body hated it. Skin, hair and nails turned to crap and my period went away. It took me gaining another 15 lbs to get my period back.
I thought it was very interesting that while I looked great and healthy, I was not and my body told me so.

I agree. My daughter and I are about the same height but she has a much smaller frame than me. So 140 on me and 140 on her are much different numbers. I will never be a size 2 no matter what I weigh.

My diet will always include meat dairy and gluten. Barring developing a serious food allergy. I'm ok with being a fat kid. The girls are old enough to make their own decisions about their diet.

I don't eat meat every dinner meal, but usually do every day as sandwiches are my go to work lunch. But dairy is every day. With either dairy or meat as my source of protein. I have thyroid issues and can't consume soy in any meaningful quantity. And I haven't developed a taste for a lot of the plant based proteins. That's not to say I don't eat a fair number of plants just that they're not the high protein ones.
In my opinion we're omnivores and I'm not going to be the one change that.

Hemp hearts are incredibly high in protein. I sprinkle them on my salads. Tasty, too.

From everything I have read over the last few years, I don't think soy is a healthy replacement. I prefer a balance diet that restricts sugar. I understand if someone objects to eating meat for moral reasons but I will never buy that it is a healthier way of eating.

Yeah, I don't buy that no meat or dairy is all that healthy (says the person who just downed a glass of milk ). I drink a glass of milk every morning. Like others have said, it is more about portion size and staying active IMHO. I do limit my intake of red meat to once a week.
