My gut reaction was "meh". I thought the prop was going to be some goofy thing made out of paper machee. But upon actually seeing it... wow. I don't want to meet the man who finds that funny. Why do you think it is a man who finds her funny. Her target audience is not primarily male. I'm one of the old-fashioned types who sometimes uses "man" to stand in for "man or woman". In particular, plural possessive pronouns with singular antecedents often sound awkward to me. Rather than "When a person eats with their hands, they ought to take a napkin for themselves," I much prefer "When a man eats with his hands, he ought to take a napkin for himself." The reader can intuit the statement applies equally well to women.

I didn't see it, and I don't really know who Cathy Griffin is, but..... that is an ugly and tacky thing to do at best. It reminds me of the GW assassination film that was made, or some of the many nasty things that were visited upon the Obamas for no reason. I despise what you are saying, but will defend to the death your right to say it......Just for clarification, do you mean your death, or the Donald's? You are looking for clarification on a well known sentence with a well known meaning? With the subject I?

Dem is very able to answer the question as posted, but remember he is a Dem in Maine, so the question has to be asked for clarification

As you can see, we received verification from him. We ALL have an inborn survival trait....so not surprising that most of us would reply the same if it were a one-on-one duel to the death, winner being the one who lives. As this past weekend should have remind all of us US citizens, many have done just that....given their lives for our freedoms.

It is no longer online as she asked for it to be taken down, but she did a photo shoot showing her holding the severed head of President Trump. She is now on the apology tour where she said she sees from the public response she went too far. www.msn.com/en-us/tv/celebrity/kathy-griffin-apologizes-for-trump-photo-i-went-too-far/ar-BBBHOmV?li=BBnb7KzShe knew from the original video she was going to far and laughed about it on the video. I posted this on politics because she is very political in her outspoken feelings of the President, and she makes it political. With beheadings being all the rage with ISIS fanatics, just how outrageous is this? Or is this just "art"? She should of stuck to doing the commercials for Carnival cruise ships.

I think Kathy Griffin has screwed up her career for awhile.
What she did was completely inappropriate and inexcusable. It was beyond just poor taste. It was disgusting.
I appreciate the fact that she has apologized, but the damage is done, and she'll have to live with the consequences for what I suspect will be years.

Well just for the record: I'm not a Kathy Griffin fan and I believe she absolutely, inexcusably went too far
BUT -
If you (the Big You, not anyone here in particular) are outraged by her posting but kept you mouth shut when photoshopped pics of Obama swinging from a noose or being burned at the stake were circulating the interwebz, you might just be a hypocrite . . .

How about comments like this from Ted Nugent:
"Obama, he's a piece of shit. I told him to suck on my machine gun. Hey Hillary [Clinton], you might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless bitch."

I'm sure you wrote Trump a sternly worded letter when he hosted that piece of shit at The White House? Or posted how disgusting and inappropriate it was on this board?
How many times did you see Kathy Griffin on tour?

Not a deflection at all. The same people who are whining about Griffin stayed silent when Ted Nugent said this.
"Obama, he's a piece of shit. I told him to suck on my machine gun. Hey Hillary [Clinton], you might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless bitch."

Tell me you really do know what "photo shopped" is. Of course it was not a real head made to look like 45. It was proudly made by her, or the photographer's staff. No photo shop involved. She was happy to post the photo holding the head. Personal development by her renders her responsible for all content

Isn't one supposed to remove one's hat inside a house, as well as in the presence of ladies?
And is whatever is on the President's head considered hair, or some sort of chapeau? Ha! You're expecting manners? In THIS White House? The Cult 45s have no use for manners.

It was proudly made by her, or the photographer's staff. No photo shop involved. She was happy to post the photo holding the head. Personal development by her renders her responsible for all content I think it was just a mask she picked up somewhere. I don't think she was thinking much about what it would appear to be. Given her caption, I would have expected a full body Trump with some blood south of the border or blood out of the eyes and ears only, but that still wouldn't be funny even if someone had been wearing the mask for the photo shoot. At best, tone deaf because that's from the campaign and the current news is the trip and the Russia probe.
To ensure she got her point across, Griffin attached a message to the tweet: "I caption this 'there was blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his ... wherever,'" a reference to Trump's comment about then-Fox News host Megyn Kelly from August 2015. www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/is-kathy-griffins-apology-enough/ar-BBBJEGv?li=BBnb7Kz
Unlike Nugent, I don't think she was advocating violence against Trump. If she really had been advocating cutting Trump's head off, IMO there wouldn't have been fake blood all over the face, just from the neck dripping down. But for reasons I do not want to understand, she decided his "where ever" was apparently the top of his head? and that using a Trump mask like this would be funny and edgy somehow. Instead of tasteless, bizarre, and no redeeming point to it.

I'm not getting the big differentiation between faking an object and faking a photo, or why one should be more or less outraged at one or the other.
You say she was "happy to post the photo", holding the fake head. Is the assumption that people who posted Photoshopped photos were unhappy to do so but somehow forced into it?

How is it photo shopped if she helped develop the fake head? Her intent is clear. Usual photo shopped photos are posted by other than the intended victim. Looks like we have posters who are now blaming the victim rather than perpetrator.
