Cruz just stuck it to Trump. Dragged his speech out, and said vote for people on the ticket who support the constitution and kept a shitty grin on huis face while the crowd booed. An ass to the very end. I am reading Heidi Cruz had to be escorted out of the convention hall because the crowd, unhappy with her husband, started in on her. With pitchforks and torches?

when I'm watching, I'm like, we get it! you hate Hillary. we got it for the last year. ok, but what are your plans, policy ideas, and things you are going to do to fix everything you bitch about between telling us you hate Hillary. I haven't heard anything other than "gonna make it great again"....but HOW? Clearly they don't know either because ALL they have is "WE HATE HILLARY! & women's rights & gay people" maybe they think that Hating Hillary will Make America Great Again? Simply not electing Hillary would accomplish that goal...

Did anyone catch Trevor Noah tonight? He was on fire! I thought I was going to die, laughing.

So talking about the issues & what plans they have to fix them isn't something I should be asking? Just they hate Hillary, so vote for them. That's it? No discussion on the extreme anti-gay, anti-choice man chosen for VP, no discussion on the anti-gay platform the GOP has elected for this year? No discussions on foreign policy (other than Trump saying tonight that he wouldn't support our NATO allies) just no discussion on any actual issues...just vote for Trump because we all hate Hillary! That's about the stupidest reason for casting a vote I've ever heard. Even worse than being a 1 issue voter.

Give them credit. They have totally updated their message. It used to be, "We hate Obama! Vote for us!" This is completely different.

I'm watching the local newscast. Former news person Susan Hutchison is now the chairman of the Washington State Republican Party. She had a chance encounter with Ted Cruz right after his speech. Introduced herself, said she was angry, and told him that he was a "traitor to the party."

So Trump drags your wife's face through the mud, as he is wont to do, and you still have to grovel at his feet? How peculiar!

I simply made a statement of fact that was answering a simple question. NOT having Hillary as President would make America great again. (not having Donald as President would make it greater still...) And issues can still be talked about... problem is with both of them being such accomplished liars, whatever they discuss will be pointless because they'll do whatever makes themselves the best profit (whether that profit be in money or political gain) at the time something actually needs doing.

I am not quite as sure of that as you are. I wonder if we ever hear the entire story or not. Did Donald let her do it with his knowledge to make her happy? Maybe not, but I would like to be sure about that. Somebody sure effed up. It should have been checked by staff before the speech at a minimum. Let us say Trump did let her do it to make her happy. Should that be the reason he does or does not become the POTUS? Is there an "entire story" that should have that impact? To me, it reflects badly not on Trump or Melania but on the Trump organization.
Her speech should have been vetted several times before she got up at that podium. It apparently wasn't vetted at all. That shows either Trumps campaign staff really sucks or he has such a lean staff no one had the time to vet it properly.
If there were some politically experienced staffers the speech mess wouldn't have happened - but that was just a speech. No big thing in the long haul. Should he be POTUS, though, this kind of an oversight by novice or overwhelmed staff members could have enormous consequences.

An ass to the very end. How does that make him an ass? Either Mr. Trump supports the US Constitution, in which case the statement is an endorsement, or he doesn't support the Constitution, in which case everybody here hopefully agrees that nobody should vote for him.

She didn't think anyone would notice.
This is a person who frequently fudges the truth - that she has a college degree, that she raises her kid all on her own without any help, that she wrote her own speech with her very own hands.
When you fudge and mostly get away with it, you think you'll always get away with it. As the beautiful wife of a rich man, no doubt she can get away with a lot before anyone would call her on it.
slate.Com had an article suggesting that since most of Europe does this, she assumed it would be fine here. I'll try to get a link later on. www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2016/07/19/maybe_melania_trump_s_plagiarism_was_just_scholarship_european_style.html

Just watched a video of the end of Sen. Cruz' speech.
He spoke about principles, values, freedom. Kept his message positive and forward-looking. Refused to endorse a man he knew in his heart isn't qualified to be the President of the United States.
Say what you will about Sen. Cruz, I find absolutely no fault with him here. For once in this farce of an election season, a candidate doing what is right rather than what is popular and expedient.

I saw a Utah representative who said she was cornered in the lady's room by two women who told her she had made a terrible mistake and would regret it.
Reagan would be proud.

Let's say both candidates are equally deceitful. So let's remove them both from the picture and focus on who will actually be doing the bulk of the policy making - the staffs they will bring with them to the WH and the people they appoint to the cabinet and other important offices.
Which candidate has surrounded themselves with more experienced, politically adept staff members to this point? Which campaign seems to generate the most gaffes and which seems to be running more smoothly?
keep in mind that in recent days, Trump had one staff member that enabled his wife to plagiarize a speech, a second staff member who said Hillary Clinton should face a firing squad, and multiple staff members who lied and claimed his wife's speech wasn't plagiarized at all (including his chief of staff) and Trump has refrained from firing any of these people, which sends a message to his staff that bad behavior is perfectly acceptable. Can you list a Clinton campaign staff member who behaved badly or illegally and didn't get fired?
Should he become POTUS, what quality of staff do you think Trump would surround himself with, compared to Clinton, based on what you've seen of his campaign?

He'd have the best staff. The staff with the best words. It would be yuuuge. The best.

One thing you have to say about Donald Trump. In his business dealings what he didn't know enough to do himself, he knew the right people to go to and get it done correctly.
I'm not a Trump fan but I do have to admit to this.
