Blame the campaign staff.
Two very good speechwriters wrote a nice speech for Melania, but Melania and her ex ballerina GF shredded it and added in shit they googled, apparently.
It's the job of the campaign staff to double, triple, and quadruple check all the speeches during the convention, especially the important ones. Apparently, none of them bothered to vet this speech, probably because they assumed it was the speech written by the two professional political speech writers, when actually, Melanie and her buddy only kept a few paragraphs of the original.
Once again, tiny campaign staff made of cronies and family members flying by the seats of their pants fucks up. Imagine that.
here is the other thing, tho. the speechwriter gave Meliana credit for using her own words. when the speech came back with the phrases lifted from Obama's speech- shouldn't Meliana have known it was going to land her in trouble to read them? or did she just figure she could blame someone else? i am really not getting how an "accident" of this scale (in terms of public speaking) can happen. She didn't think anyone would notice.
This is a person who frequently fudges the truth - that she has a college degree, that she raises her kid all on her own without any help, that she wrote her own speech with her very own hands.
When you fudge and mostly get away with it, you think you'll always get away with it. As the beautiful wife of a rich man, no doubt she can get away with a lot before anyone would call her on it.

so far, he has shown he can't handle Meagan Kelly or speeches. what has he shown he CAN handle? JEB!? Ex-candidates? After paying them off or promising them stuff, of course. Probably the most surprising part of the article about him offering Kaisch the VP spot was the fact that Trump would think that Kaisch would be so easily persuaded to jump on the Trump train.
Kaisch and Trump had very little of their platforms in common (well, what little platform Trump actually has).
I guess he figured if he could get Christie to bow and scrape so easily, Kaisch would fall right in line, too.
Glad Kaisch had some back bone, but no doubt he's figuring he'll have a better shot at the presidency in four years if he stays far away from Trump.

She has learned well from her husband.

So what issues will Trump handle? Interplanetary? Extraterrestrial? MAKING AMERICA GREAT! - which probably involves something like eating apple pie while watching a baseball game with a boy scout troop and humming the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Or something. And Trump will be so very nice, so very very awesome at it. Apple pie is British. He'll be eating Twinkies.

slate.Com had an article suggesting that since most of Europe does this, she assumed it would be fine here. I'll try to get a link later on.

So, let me get this straight. Trees falling in a forest make no noise, breaking the law of physics. You still refuse to ever actually participate in a debate. Look at all your last posts. You're not debating, you're commenting. Perhaps you should look up the meaning of the word "debate". Debating and commenting are two different things. I agree. You simply have a history of just throwing crap on the wall to see what sticks. Go for it, if you want, but I will continue to point the crap out. Heck if you would come home to your home country and just bitch, I would have less of a problem with it, but you hide north of the border just slinging crap.

FWIW, IM(not so)HO, this whole speech thing is an absurd distraction. In my (not so)HO, it may be an absurd distraction, but it is important. It should never have happened.

Weltz is French Canadian. She lives in Quebec. The Quebecois hate Americans slightly less than child molesters but slightly more than puppy murderers. So cheer up. It could be worse.

Well, maybe if they stopped snapping their fingers and yelling "Garcon!" in restaurants, and b!tching that we don't "speak American", we'd hate them a little less.

I am not quite as sure of that as you are. I wonder if we ever hear the entire story or not. Did Donald let her do it with his knowledge to make her happy? Maybe not, but I would like to be sure about that. Somebody sure effed up. It should have been checked by staff before the speech at a minimum.

Cruz just stuck it to Trump. Dragged his speech out, and said vote for people on the ticket who support the constitution and kept a shitty grin on huis face while the crowd booed.
An ass to the very end.

Is there an "entire story" that should have that impact?

Bill and Hillary worked as a team Barack and Michelle try to work as a team. In my mind, I believe both men listen to their wives, but made their "own" decisions, after listening to their discussions. although Bill and Hillary did publicize theirselves as a political team. I am not quite as confident Donald and Melania would have that same relationship. I imagine Trophy wives are high maintence, and their husbands might have to give in to them to keep them. Maybe I am over thinking this. Thanks

Do the Republicans and Trump plan to ever tell the voters WHAT exactly their plans are to "fix" everything or are they going to spend the entire convention preaching the choir about how much they hate Hillary?

And I have to continue to question whether Trump actually wants to be president or if he's running to lose? I know, I know, his ego.. But seriously...

An ass to the very end. I am reading Heidi Cruz had to be escorted out of the convention hall because the crowd, unhappy with her husband, started in on her.
