and then this morning, the Capitol was on lockdown for a bit while police searched for a woman with a gun. I don't think I can handle any more of this shit.

“All I know is that this must stop — this divisiveness between our police and our citizens,” Dallas Police Chief David Brown told reporters after an ambush left five officers dead. “We don’t feel much support most days. Let’s not make today most days. Please, we need your support to be able to protect you from men like these, who carried out this tragic, tragic event.”

Over the next few days we will file this event away to the back of our minds until the next mass killing. And we will file that away too.

Its a rough time and given we are in the midst of the heat of summer it might get worse in the next 6 weeks to 2 months. I just checked out the weather in Dallas, TX and they will be in the 100's with 80/81 for the low starting around July 15. They need to summer north to be less crazy.
Condolences to the officers, policemen's families, and Dallas as a whole. I hope sanity returns to the shooters at large and they realize this was not the way to get fairer police protection. Sigh. It sucks when people think with their gun and not their heart & head combined.

There will be prayers sent out, there will be floral tributes and "In memoriams", but nothing is going to change. Nothing.

Dallas supposedly does a really good job of 'community' policing - keeping lines of communication open, trying to be fair and balanced, doing a lot of training for their officers and outreach to the citizens.
During the protest, before the idiot started to fire, police officers (without body armor) were walking through the peaceful protestors, offering cups of water. A far cry from the body armor/pepper spray/night stick responses that some cities have used against protestors.
And yet this happened. So very tragic for the police and their families, for the rest of the police department and for the whole community.

This one hits close to home, I don't reveal anything too personal on here but I do know someone that knew two of the officers that were killed.
Horrible....... There just really isn't much else to say at this point.

The group that perpetrated the attack claimed on Facebook to have "thousands" of actives.
Let's just hope that's a ridiculous exaggeration.
Have any of the shooters been caught yet? Is there any hope of it?

Is there any hope of it? Do you have a link to this? Seems early to say "(T)he group that perpetrated the attack" without qualification. Is there a reason to believe it if a "group" claimed responsibility? And Facebook? I have got to believe that is an easily traced path back to individuals posting things there.

Is there any hope of it? One shooter was killed (blown up with a police robot when several hours of negotiations failed to bring a resolution). Initially they thought there were more than 1, but most recent reports don't mention other shooters. Don't know if that means there weren't any or they just haven't found any yet.
It said the shooter liked several groups on Facebook but not that he was part of any kind of organized terrorist group. Probably too early to know anything for sure.

I am really numb today. I can't even feel pain. My condolences to everyone. And by not feeling pain, I'm meaning I can't cry. Go Well.

There are several parts of this attack that I could rant & rave about, but either I'm too tired from taking care of hubby, or my anger level is all outta fucks to give. I instead chose to take a couple of boxes of fresh cookies from the grocery store to my local police dept today. Very small town, unusually large police force for the size of our town. We have a several of officers who live in our community & a couple that live in my neighborhood. We have a great appreciation for having them here with us & I wanted to do something to let them know. I've also been looking online for any local BLM organization or persons because I also want to take them cookies to show support.
I think both sides need support today, it's not an either or for me. Both the peaceful protesters (and it WAS peaceful) and the officers, their coworkers & families need support & love. We don't need more division and hate, we need each other & to support each other. Everyone is a victim of this horrible attack. Both sides are hurting very deeply from it.
so I'm choosing to keep the soap box put away and to show support. I'll rant and rave thru my voting this year.

I leave it to others to decide on their own why you posted only what you did and made the comment that you made. For myself, I have no doubt.

Loretta Lynch, from my listening perch, seems to be a pretty fair minded individual when speaking to the public.. I'm a little confused: what is the definition of a hate crime? It can be confusing. That is why we have professionals like Lynch to tell us that it would be on the table for situations like what happened in Dallas.
