Tomorrow! ...or today, if today is Thursday! Britain is faced with the choice: stay in the EU and nobly go down with the ship, or set out to stormy seas aboard rickety lifeboats. One way lies a brief reprieve and certain doom; another way lies pain, uncertainty, and slim hope of survival. Polls are close, with "remain" (in the EU) enjoying an ever-so-slight lead in the latest polls. TPTB are pulling out all the stops. 24-hour news coverage on the "apocalypse" Britons will face if they vote to leave. British celebrities like Liam Neeson and U2's "Bono" issuing similar warnings, pleading for Britons to embrace unity--the noble unity of joining arms with their European brethren as the European experiment plunges beneath the waves. This media blitz, as well as the assassination of a British MP by the name of Jo Cox last week "in the name of" the 'Leave' movement, may well have sealed Britain's fate. Risk assets are coiled like tightly-wound springs, as are currencies and global markets. The pound sterling and Euro are ready to crash or surge pending the outcome. Billions will be made and lost pending the outcome of the vote. Will the UK choose cancer or the car crash? A slow, certain death, or an instant cataclysm with marginal odds of surviving? We FIND OUT TOMORROW!Or... today, if it's Thursday.
Looks like they went with the car crash scenerio......

If Great Britain could do this, we now have to re-think Trump and his run for the Presidency. I think he just upped his chances. The world has tilted away from the status quo.

Goodbye markets. And UK: good going. I... Wow. I didn't think you had it in you. The "car crash or cancer" analogy is fitting. Britain is going to feel this. But... they saw the writing on the wall and made the right decision.

So how much of an issue will this cause us? Dow finally popped above 18k today... It's anyone's guess. The stock market decoupled from fundamentals years ago. The broader indexes are down ~4.5% as of now. My guess is that's roughly where the day will end too.

Several folks from EU countries are in the office this week and none of them thought this would happen, work should be interesting tomorrow. Depending on the EU/UK negotiation global manufacturers may need to rethink supplying Europe from plants in the UK.

Depending on the EU/UK negotiation global manufacturers may need to rethink supplying Europe from plants in the UK. Our company is based in France but has some factories in the UK. Wonder how that will impact us.

Do you think the immigrants already there from eu will be allowed to stay? I saw they said yes, but I'm not counting on it. Britain is full of "immigrants" now, from around the world. The ME immigration might have been the final straw. They were not from the old colonies...... The vote yesterday was more about POLITICAL independence rather than immigration issues. The EU started as an economic machine to compete in the world against the USA and Asian behemoths who used technology and simple economic numbers of mass to out perform smaller countries that consisted in Europe. They tore the borders down for economic efficiencies. Unfortunately, the EU had morphed into a political machine where the elite became much stronger and ignored the citizens of the EU. Brussels, Paris and Berlin were now in charge of everything. It has become a miniature version of the old Soviet Union of the sixties and seventies. Also, remember Britain never gave up their own currency. They were never "all in" on the whole EU thing.

Prime Minister Boris, and President Trump. Whew, prospects for the future are dizzying! Kind of like 2008 Change for change sake. You guys were happy about that at the time, and most of you are still slap happy giggly over it.

Please remember nothing has changed. The vote was not a binding one. Britain always is slow to make and accept change. Right now we are at the "peasant uprising with pitch fork level". We still have to go through the French level of "let them eat cake", before we go to the actual step of leaving the Union.

Wow! I really didn't think the 'Leaves' would have the majority. I think if nothing else this was a grand wake up call for Germany and the EU elite that they made a power grab and it backfired. I see an interesting future in store for Europe. Yes it will be interesting to see what happens next. My initial research points to leaving as possibly a two year long process. It will be informative to see how it unfolds.
<---- think I will need a lot of this.

Everyone does understand it was not all about immigrants. Britain could not face the fact that their electric teapots and toasters had been outlawed by the EU due to electrical useage being too high. They just overthrew the equivilant of our EPA.
There were a lot of moving parts involved in the leave faction win.

My mother will be happy. She's Dutch. She doesn't much care for the English anyway. Apparently, the feeling is mutual.

Quite frankly, I would not be surprised to see that it never happens. Should see some negotiations and concessions to Britain over the next year. Britain wants more power in the Union, and less central government control. Of course if Cameron did resign, and a new government is formed that is absolutly pro leave, it may be a done deal. At least they never had to overthrow Brussels and the power structure like we did to them to gain our freedom.

Last night one of the news stations was blaming Obama for the mess. They said Britain was pro-stay until he went over there and told them they had to stay in ther EU. The next week the leave movement started gaining strength. Evidently the Brits did not appreciate the President telling them what to do. We felt the same way about the King in 1775
