Tomorrow! ...or today, if today is Thursday! Britain is faced with the choice: stay in the EU and nobly go down with the ship, or set out to stormy seas aboard rickety lifeboats. One way lies a brief reprieve and certain doom; another way lies pain, uncertainty, and slim hope of survival. Polls are close, with "remain" (in the EU) enjoying an ever-so-slight lead in the latest polls. TPTB are pulling out all the stops. 24-hour news coverage on the "apocalypse" Britons will face if they vote to leave. British celebrities like Liam Neeson and U2's "Bono" issuing similar warnings, pleading for Britons to embrace unity--the noble unity of joining arms with their European brethren as the European experiment plunges beneath the waves. This media blitz, as well as the assassination of a British MP by the name of Jo Cox last week "in the name of" the 'Leave' movement, may well have sealed Britain's fate. Risk assets are coiled like tightly-wound springs, as are currencies and global markets. The pound sterling and Euro are ready to crash or surge pending the outcome. Billions will be made and lost pending the outcome of the vote. Will the UK choose cancer or the car crash? A slow, certain death, or an instant cataclysm with marginal odds of surviving? We FIND OUT TOMORROW!Or... today, if it's Thursday.

Greece throwing up over the side is hilarious!
Going to London in Sept so an exit vote will make my dollar go further right?

Much ado about nothing. The sun will still come up in the east the next day, or is it Friday? If they do Brixit, there is a possibility the Donald is still good this fall

I don't know what's going to happen, but it will be interesting either way. Unlike Virgil, I don't see certain death in either scenario. Its going to be choosing which pain and which path. How well that choice unfolds is TBD.

What is the word out of Britain this morning? Has the sky fallen yet?
After reading some articles and seeing some interviews the last few days, I believe if they do exit, nothing really changes. Britain continues to sell to Europe. Europe continues to sell to Britain. Germany cannot afford to lose the revenue they receive from Britain on their exports right now since they have to support Spain Italy Greece and pay for all their recent immigrants.

I have voted leave. Brussels is wanting a European superstate.... with closer and closer union. We only ever wanted a trading bloc.....not loss of sovereignty.
I think we will Remain... because people have been scared witless by tales of Armageddon.
but a warning shot has been fired........large numbers of people across the Union... are not happy being ordered about by faceless and unelected bureaucrats.

The polls close at in another hour, and we get early results around 10 pm central time tonight. I wonder if the BBC gets their pants in a bunch trying to figure the final outcome like the mass media does here way before everything is counted

I wonder if the BBC gets their pants in a bunch trying to figure the final outcome like the mass media does here way before everything is counted Apparently over there they rely on what their bookies say (because apparently they're usually right) and the bookies are saying the UK will remain in. For what that's worth.
I don't know enough about it to have an opinion on whether they should stay in or not, but I selfishly don't want the stock market to crash, which it's predicted to do if they leave, so I hope they stay.

The stock markets will not crash. The banks will not fail. This is much ado about nothing. Reminds me of Y2K hysteria. The world is coming to an end!

Polls have closed. First results due in around midnight......(We are 5 hours ahead of NY) Then throughout the night....should know around 5am how its going to go......and they will call it, whenever mathematically a side can't be beaten for 51%
They don't really do exit polls because they have historically been inaccurate.
EU leaders are taking a keen interest.... apparently
Turn out looks very good.

i'm glad i got to see Europe a little bit, before it passes into darkness.
I suspect it will not be so for my children, but i have to worry more about saving our republic instead of foreign entanglements. Ironically, I remember when I was a kid that's what my elder relatives said about Lebanon. It's hard to realize these days that some very dangerous middle east countries used to be pretty popular tourist destinations.

We'll I have to go to bed.... but early indications are not as predicted....5/382 declared. Remain is in the lead but the Brexit vote seems to be stronger than thought at this point....... with rumours that they have a big vote to come. Remain camp need to put the champagne back in the fridge.

Are you suggesting their leaving would have no impact? Even short term? Short term? Sure. After a month, not so much. The markets will bounce back. Britain is truly a cosmopolitan worldly country. It is a "world state" due to immigrants from around the world making it their home since WWII. Their monetary deals are intertwined around the world, and Europe is not necessarily so heavily relied upon for them to survive leaving the European Union.

I have to use Bloomberg News to keep up with the vote. Our usual cable networks do not seem to worry too much about it tonight........ They are all about Clinton and Trump, so evidently they do not think it is too important

If they vote for "exit", look out for Trump this fall. He just might do it.

With 268 of 382 districts reporting the leave the EU group has a 3% lead. Looks like the bookies will go broke on this one!
About a 600,000 lead.
