note to the board:
i realize i am jumping the gun by 2 weeks, but i see no way that either of these candidates loses the primary at this point.

So, Trump has been making the rounds of the GOP congress people, presumably to garner support.
Since he's the king of deals, I assume he is bartering that he'll behave in a more standard, presidential GOP manner in exchange for them backing him.
Will this consolidate the GOP party behind Trump and win him the election, or will his more modest, dignified demeanor run off his original radical base, or will he be unable to quash his usual bombastic, name calling, un-PC demeanor and lose the election?
Personally, I don't think he'll be able to stop being the brash and arrogant Trump, but if Bernie fails to rally his supporters to vote for the party, Trump may still win anyway. The Dems are becoming the fractured party.

Trump needs to get clobbered. I just hope it is *before* the election.

The democrats fracture but always manage to pull it together for the general election. The republicans do not do that. The in-fighting within the republican party is still what will likely doom the Trump candidacy. However... If anyone has a chance to beat Hilary, it's Trump. None of the other republican candidates had that chance.

How sad and awful for America that this is our choice.

I realize Clinton has flaws and people distrust her. But Trump??!!! He lies about so much, has so little experience on being President, calls most people names and insults so many. I just don't understand how how got this far. People better wise up. Trump can be funny and entertaining on TV, but would be a disaster as President.

This would be such a fun game to watch if it weren't for the fact that the "trophy" is being President of the United States for the next four years.

If the Senate only did their job and held hearings maybe we'd have a new Supreme Court Justice. McConnell is wrong on the "Biden rule." This isn't a lame duck administration until a new President is elected. This will be the longest time we have been down a justice in history. McConnell and Ryan have to get out of office if they won't work with those with other opinions. We need people who can lead.

But even it the Senat held hearings and voted to confirm Judge Garland; I firmly believe the next President will be addressing between 1-3 vacancies on the Court.

There's a part of me that thinks a trump presidency would just all be grandstanding and blowing smoke and yelling at other countries that he'd never actually get anything done. Then the next election would be yelling at the good for nothing congress.
Not enough to bet on it though, but I wonder. Kinda like I wonder how much he actually runs his company if it seems no worse for wear after almost a year of campaigning.

He haș paid people to run his companies, they just tell him where to sign and the final numbers. Now if he wins the presidency, well, that's an entirely different story: - at the end of his term we will probably have no allies except maybe Israel and Poland - all former allies will be neutral to us but we will have the rest of the world as enemies - a bigger discrepancy in pay between laborer and CEO - record low corporate taxes - health costs through the roof - a bigg ass useles wall on the southern border If you think we have debt now, think again! If you think we have too many homeless, again wrong! And so many other things! I can't wait for it!

So if Trump does win this, are we going to revisit this page to see how many of these prophesies come to be true?

So if Trump does win this, are we going to revisit this page to see how many of these prophesies come to be true? Yes. Post election, here on the Politics thread, we spend a good deal of time rehashing old postings and beating dead horses, until it's time to start gearing up for the next big election.

What percentage in the polls does the Libertarian candidate need to be included in the thread?

What percentage in the polls does the Libertarian candidate need to be included in the thread? 0%. we just need pollsters to start picking up on that. Green Party, too, for those who want to see that. i know of NO polling agencies that are following 3rd parties. but that might change after the conventions.

here is the logical test:
is a man's infidelity in ANY WAY the responsibility of the wife?
you have to have a certain perspective to answer yes to that. what % of the US public has that perspective?
