Slot machines in the Lincoln bedroom. Could be. Wonder what the nightly rate charge will be? He will have to check with Bill on what the going rate was back in the 1990's and just triple it. I wonder if it will be like Camelot back in the 1960's and his wife will do a Go Fund Me account for new China and silverware

i think Cruz is going to come in 3rd in SC. that is not exactly what i would call going over a cliff. Won't that depend on the Republican turn out? sure. the more turnout, the better Rubio will do.Trump was a distant second in Iowa and yet he had the highest vote total of any Republican candidate ever in the state, other than the man that beat him. If S. Carolina has a record turn out, it's conceivable Cruz got every available Evangelical vote but not enough of other voters to keep it close. that is not how it is looking, right now. but let's be clear: if you look at the POLLING DATA it is impossible to tell Cruz and Rubio apart right now. i am going 100% off momentum. if momentum means anything, Rubio is going to come in second.

It will be HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't it UUUUGE! We are wintering in SWFL. The largest KIA dealership in the country is in Cape Coral. The guy is famous, or if you prefer, idiotic, with his ads down here. He always ends the commercial with either himself, or his associates or customers Yelling, "Its going to be HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" His January promotion was any new car purchase or rental agreement earned you a cruise with him and the staff with all the patrons (couples) going along. I do not know if he had the catchline before Trump or not.

This afternoon Donald decided off the cuff, to call for a boycott of Apple because they do not want to help the Government on cracking terrorist cellphones.

i really don't care for this narrative of why Trump is successful. he could be a blow-up doll this year, and get 34% of the vote. this is not about policy with Trump. just listen to the exit polling interviews. to a PERSON the people that vote for him are voting AGAINST THE PARTY. that is not going to win him the nomination. dj, do you mind posting your response here, to the 2016 Republican nomination thread? I do not want this prediction to disappear after the South Carolian thread drifts into page 35 of the boards Just the response. It is a keeper, and I do not want someone to say, "way back when, somewhere on the boards, said...........! TY

more polling out today:
Trump 32 +13 Cruz/Rubio 18 +8 Bush/Kasich 10 +3
Dumpster Fire is down another %. one poll has him within MOE (first one since NOVEMBER). i won't reiterate what i have already said about this race. i don't think it will be that close. but i don't expect him to CLOBBER Rubio/Cruz.
i give The Donald about 7:2 odds of winning this one, with the 1:7 longshots being Rubio and Cruz.

He was also endorsed by SC Governor Haley who is pretty well-liked here. I imagine that's given him a boost. She may be well liked, but she backed Rommney four years ago, and he did not win South Carolina. She also backed the idiotic removal of the Confederate flag from the Confederate Memorial. That wasn't too popular with a large sector of SC Republicans. I don't know if an endorsement by/from her is such a good thing for a Republican candidate.

Removing racist symbolism is never idiotic and probably was supported by many Repos other than your "large sector".

the Augusta Chronicle has Rubio down 3%. what is interesting is that Rubio is up 11% in NINE DAYS.
it shows how quickly things can change.
i am putting Trump at 3:1 to win today, down from 7:2 yesterday, with Rubio and Cruz at 1:9 longshots, down from 1:7. but if the Augusta Chronicle is right, Rubio is within striking distance of Trump.
note: in the last week, Kasich's numbers have been fading against Bush. Bush is +2-3%, and Kasich is down by about the same amount. it looks like Bush is going to come in a solid 4th in this, which will keep him in until Super Tuesday.

DJ-I am too lazy to look it up. Why does S.C. (and a few other states I believe) have primaries on different days for the two political parties? Seems a waste of taxpayer money to hold two separate primaries on two different days.

Ours are "open" primaries. The national party organizations set the dates for the primaries here. I guess they don't want to have to look at each other when the time comes so they pick different days.

Seems like a waste of money. But they can do what they wish. It's definitely more costly. I have no clue why they haven't changed it.

Megyn Kelly why cut your hair? She was pulling her hair out because she attacked Trump and lost the battle and the war P.S. Trump won in South Carolina. BOOM!

BOOM! no surprise there. he was favored to win by 13%, according to the polls. imo, there is no way he gets to 13%. not a great showing for him, but sufficient to get him the majority of the delegation.

The Confexerate flag flying over the capital was a symbol of racism and hatred. Removing it was one act of Haley that I approve of. Otherwise she's just another RW hack. Her endorsement of Rubio sent the conservative pundit class into spasms of delight.

there are a couple of surprises if this stands up, but not many.
first of all, Trump is right on averages. he was polling at 33%, and he is coming in at 33%. he basically got 0% of the undecided vote, which is precisely what happened in Iowa.
the battle for 2nd is super interesting. BOTH Cruz AND Rubio are coming in at 22%. this is 3-4% above their polling averages. but there was only 5% undecided vote- so where did the other 1-3% come from?
Bush is struggling to stay in 4th, and at 8%. he can't be happy with this performance. this is going to put a lot of doner pressure on him to exit, which would be super helpful to Cruz and Rubio
Kasich is also at 8%, but he had no hopes or expectations of winning or placing well in SC. still, he has to be thinking about what this means for his campaign.
ditto for Carson. he was not expected to do well (by anyone other than him) and he is not doing well. he is going to come in dead last.
if 1-3 guys drop out, that is going to free up 6-20% of the vote. that would be very helpful to Cruz and Rubio.
