LOL... pointing out factual errors makes ME look stupid? I'm not unable to see that. I'm also not unable to see that "if you've got a business -- you didn't build that" is factually wrong. Are you unable to see that it's factually wrong? Context does matter, I agree... but the statements must also be accurate. You want to believe he's infallible... go ahead and believe it. If he'd said "if you've got a business -- you used infrastructure that everyone helped create" (or something similar) I'd have given him a pass... because that would be true. The ending of "you didn't build that" isn't true. It's just not. No amount of wishing that it was will ever make it true.
You can't dip into the middle of a speech, pull out a few words and triumphantly exclaim about how 'anti-business' or 'socialistic' someone is based on that one phrase. If that was permissible, I could go back and lift sentence fragments from the speeches of everyone who ever gave a speech - ever - and manage to find just the right phrase to make them look like they are advocates of whatever nefarious position I want. I would have a special field day with Bush Jr, who, bless his heart, often managed to jumble his words.
It's possible to do, but unfair.
I agree with that... but what you CAN do is pull out something that's factually false, and point it out as being so. Please point out where I ever used that phrase to suggest he's "anti-business" or "socialistic" (I'm not saying he's not... I'm just saying I never used THAT PHRASE as proof of it). All I pointed out was that it's a lie.

I think you have me confused. I didn't make the India reference. I don't have you confused. I know you didn't make the reference, but we both alluded to it.I just pointed out that it's not a "business" without all the licensing and fees and other required government red-tape involved (even if it's not much, such as in a lawncare business doesn't require much), and the property purchasing of location (if necessary) and required materials/machinery/equipment/vehicles. But it IS. There is no licensing required to start it. I've told you that twice. There is no physical location required, and the owner is assumed to own a lawnmower.Doing a "job" for a neighbor isn't "having a business". I used the neighbor to point out how easy it can be, and how quickly one can get started. He could have just as easily posted a note at the local hardware store. Once he is employed performing a service he is engaging in a business transaction and activity, and that will fly with the IRS. In fact, they will not look at him as an employee if he is using said mower, has the freedom to come and go, and/ or works less than 80% of the time for that customer.Case in point: the bums on the street that wash windows (terribly, often making them actually harder to see out of) of cars at stoplights for handouts don't "have a business" they "do jobs". Actually I was not making that comparison at all.Actually... you were. But... whatever. I'm not in a confrontational mood today.
