One to three possible suspects. Live television coverage showing triage right now.

I believe that we are at the point where each police department should have a "designated shooter" whose sole purpose would be to take this guys out. And when I say "out" I mean just that: shoot to kill, do not wait for green light or any sort of approval and do not give a chance for negotiations where these individuals end up taken in custody!
I was reading the other day some weird statistic that was claiming that from the beginning of this year, in the U.S.we had 350+ terroristic incidents. In order to qualify as such, each incident had to have 4 or more fatalities. Those with less fatalities are just "normal" This is insane!

I tried to get to the website, but the server is busy. It is a Regional Center for Development Disabilities. Why?
Its a guess, but maybe genetic counseling and sex ed are so horrible one is going to ignore work programs, affordable housing programs etc. for this population.

So far the only thing I can tell is they are trying to evacuate people.

On cable network footage, it looks like some people shot, are in fair shape. Awake and conversing with first responders. At least in that way, it is a hopeful situation

A day after a massacre on a U.S. college campus, Jeb Bush said "stuff happens" but that does not mean gun restrictions should be tightened.
"We're in a difficult time in our country and I don't think more government is necessarily the answer to this. I think we need to reconnect ourselves with everybody else. It's very bad to see," the former Florida governor said. Then he added: "Look, stuff happens and the impulse is always to do something and it's not necessarily the right thing to do."

Stuff happens. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Your correct. It is sort of like the Paris attack for me. We knew the death toll was going to big, and news media kept it low for quite sometime, although they were only going with info they were given. I was just hoping the death toll would be small, based on the footage of the triage I saw.

I'm so glad I don't live there any more. I could go to a Planned Parenthood and get shot. I could go to a place of worship and get shot. I could go to school and get shot. I could go to a center for the handicapped and get shot. I could go to the movies and get shot.
You clearly need more guns in your country.

Not.

reports are it is learning disability center. Ouch. WHY? Ya know, I could concoct a couple of reasons just from comments I've read on this, and other message boards. I won't, though. To try to make reason from the unreasonable is a waste of time. We won't know what the heck went on here until the perp(s) is captured. In fact, we may never know.

This kind of thing doesn't happen anywhere else in the world with the frequency it happens here. I truly believe that's something we, as Americans, need to face up to rather than trying to point our fingers elsewhere to divert attention from our reality.

VB, you don't see a difference between a ISIS sympathizer shooting at the military and ordinary citizens shooting up other ordinary citizens just for the hell of it? Really?

OMG! ISIS is here!!!! The TV News has indicated there may be a bomb that must be dealt with. Talking heads are doing their usual thing and confusing themselves.

Welts, we do have a culture problem with guns here. I do agree with Jeb though in that knee jerk solutions do not necessarily solve the issue. I think the right laws can help, but the culture of America needs to move from shoot your problems too.

And before we go down this path yet again, I am not using the g-u-n word or suggesting anything be banned. But I do think we need to figure out why so many Americans seem so intent on killing large numbers of people.

You clearly need more guns in your country. You forgot the U.S. Capital building shooting (two U.S. Capital police officers dead) in 1998. That cancels out Valuebuy's Canadian Parliament building shooting.

There is some activity on the scanner and it sounds like they may have an eye on a perp and maybe shots fired.

But I do think we need to figure out why so many Americans seem so intent on killing large numbers of people. I've seen a lot of tit-for-tat exchanges with each party going to the far extremes to make their point. That just muddies the waters and makes it all but impossible to have a productive conversation about some of the problems we're facing. I've seen nobody (at least, on this board) advocate the banning of guns. I don't recall seeing anybody advocating giving guns to anyone who asks for them, regardless of age, mental state, etc. Yet, these are the arguments that are put forth when guns are being discussed. It's silly, IMO, because it doesn't address the problem as it is. It's just defensive posturing - going nowhere.
