One iPhone; my employer pays for it. If they didn't, I'd probably get some smartphone on my own dime but not an iPhone.
DH has a basic pay-as-you go phone.

Love my iPhone. Spent 6 months contemplating, got the 'previous' model, and have been very happy with my purchase.

Maybe not on YM. As you have to know the average age on this board is not young, but if you look at he phones people talk on, most are iPhones. Go to any store and the iPhone cases out number all the other cases combined. That is only because IPhone is the more common phone. Even coach sells iPhone cases and only iPhone cases.

I have a flip phone and DH has an iPhone.
In my extended family, Dad has a iPhone (he is obsessed with Apple stuff), DSM has a Crackberry, and both DBs have Samsung smartphones.

We are Samsung users. Ages 31 and 34, if that is important. I have the first Galaxy and I'm due for an upgrade now, but I really, really, really, really want the Galaxy III and I want to wait for the price to go down some.

I don't have an iPhone but I just purchased my first smartphone a month ago and received it Monday - the Galaxy Nexus 4. It's a nice phone! Also, no bloatware, unlocked and contract free. I'm going with $30/month T-Mobile prepaid plan.

I have a Droid 2. I could upgrade in March but I'm unwilling to part with unlimited data. For me as a single, Verizon's new plans are a bad deal with my data usage (slightly over 2 gigs every month).
It will not be an iPhone when I get something else. My brother has one and I know the password and can use it but I wouldn't buy one.
If I can break my attachment to a keyboard, I might go for the Samsung 3. On the other hand the unlocked price is ridiculous for the phones I want.

Five in our family. Two iPhones (me and DD17). Three others.
On my daughter's high school dance team, there are 16 members. And 16 iPhones so they can FaceTime each other.

I own a "fancy" phone, but I use it as a prepaid phone. I don't text much, & I just don't use it a lot. I'd rather be paying $100 per year for a phone I "might" need in an emergency, than over $100 per month for services I can get on my home computer. I'm not glued to my cell.

See, folks, Doxie is just too young and hip for us to understand her! Nothing screams youth and vitality like a mother of two with a redneck hunter hubby and a huge suv parked outside with a bunch of dogs in it... As long as she is on her iPhone, she is still a high school queen!

Not me either. Only a land line for me and DH has a Blackberry for work but he can use it for personal too.
We can afford them but just don't want them.

By iPhone, I guess you mean the Apple company? iPhone-0 Current phone is from straight talk, it's their android. ZTE? However, I will be buying their Samsung Galaxy S II soon. I kinda dropped my ZTE and the screen busted and now getting it to charge is a pain in the ass. And it's pissy because I haven't had this phone for even a year. Grrrrr! But I will spend the $$ to upgrade and hopefully be smart enough to get a case for it(Otterbox maybe) so that I can keep it for several years. I 'know' I am going to buy it, but spending the $350 for it is really killing me! But then, it's only going to cost me $45/month for unlimited everything. And I am honestly getting it for the camera/video. I know I am a huge YM failure. Hopefully I can still play in the sandbox.

I'm perfectly happy with my land line and my answering machine. I don't see the need for anything else. I've got Onstar in the car, but that's it.

mmhmm - You are more advanced than I as I don't even have Onstar. I'm so screwed if I break down in the dark off a beaten path. So I avoid doing that. But my home phone is smart because I can push a button to shut it up during the elections and it's not at the bottom of the pond. It also warns me who's calling. Until they make one that cooks and cleans I may never get one.

I think the reason there are so many cases sold for smart phones is because of how expensive they are. Quite simply the most I have paid for a phone is $50. Why would I spend almost that much to protect it? ;D But people who buy expensive IPhones probably would spend the money to get a case for them. I know I never looked at a case for anything until I got the Kindle for my son.

I got a faux leather case for my first Kindle Fire. It was fine. The Kindle Fire HD is so thin I am seriously considering an Otterbox when they come out.
My brother's iPhone and iPad are both in Otterboxes. If I lost my mind and ended up with an iPhone, I'd buy an Otterbox, not a Coach case.
