At my old job, the toilet seats were perpetually covered with urine, blood and feces. The custodial staff used to block the bathroom while they were 'cleaning' and if you went in right after they had 'cleaned' let's just say the only thing getting cleaned in there was the guy's pipes. No way in heck any surface in that place was cleaner than my keyboard, and no way in heck would I try to pump in that place.

I used to pump in my office. I'd shut the door and do my work while the pump did its thing. It drove my business partner crazy and he'd get completely skeezed out. I'd gladly donate my office for you ladies. Don't mind the glass wall up front though...it's one way security glass. Trust me..... Awesome, you're too kind. Maybe if you helped it would speed things up too.

Considering we had shyt all over the floor of one bathroom last week I doubt it. A complaint was put into maintenance before it overflowed. I called them after it had overflowed and they said oh that one that's about to overflow? Nice place you work. I've worked for a long time and never come across shyt on the floor of any of the washroom at any of the places I've worked or visited. Its a health issue, perhaps call the health department. Its a federal government building. I do work with some nasty people. Most people in my office are ok. Its the larger population in the buildng. They will steal your drinks and food out of the fridges and steal from the blind guy running the convenience store. A toliet had overflowed. I was annoyed bc a complaint was put in with the proper people before it overflowed when something could have been done to prevent it.

my baby doesn't crawl yet. However, he does grab his feet/splash in bathwater/tries to touch his bare butt when he's changed and then puts his hands in his mouth. But what about the airborne poop particles in the bathroom? For a little 'well duh' advice....never, under any circumstances, ever open your mouth to make googly baby noises to the little heathen while changing a baby boy's diaper.

I used to work at a grocery store in high school, and one of my responsibilites was cleaning the restrooms. The men's room was almost always cleaner than the ladies room. Women are nasty.

I have, but I also quickly learned that putting a diaper wipe over his weinie works wonders.

I seriously wonder about some of these people though. They sound like they have issues with all the grunting and stuff some of them do in the bathroom. And half the time you can't even identify the stuff in the sinks.

Okay I've reconsidered. I was using my personal experience to make the call that breasfeeding chambers shouldn't be legislated.
Now having learned that not only are these poor American women being forced to go back to work rediculously soon after giving birth they also have to indure the most disgusting washrooms. If an employer or the gov't doesn't care to keep new moms at home with their new borns for any decent length of time then moms are essencially being forced to pump breastmilk in shyty, pissy, bloody rooms with no locks and no electricity. I believe now that employers should provide a nice clean, private place for new moms to pump breastmilk (preferably with musical accompaniment). Oh and a fridge would be nice, one with water and ice attachements because breastfeeding moms need lots of hydration.

preferably with musical accompanimentPumping sucks enough without easy listening tunes in the background.

We have lights, just no outlets for plugging things in. I've seen people go to the cafe, get lunch and lay it on the counter by the bathroom door. Eeewww!
Jen if I were in an office or building with just my staff, I think it'd be fine. My Philly office is in an ancient building and they share the bathroom with other offices including some private sector ones but it was much nicer than mine.

I sure can...with my multi speed buffer. Gotta love a man with the right tools for the job. As long as the equipment is properly maintained and cared for, it remains ready and raring to get the job done right the first time in a moment's notice.

What did women do 25 years ago? 50 years ago?
Why do we keep getting government involved into our daily life?
Legislating everything means a few get what they want or need, but everyone pays for it. Trying to make workplaces utopia for all never works....and should never be tried
Improvise....figure out a way to do this, where it DOESNT put a burden on the freaking guy paying your salary. Pumping is a NEW thing.....but women have been having babies since time began
There has to be a way for mothers to figure this out

What did women do 25 years ago? 50 years ago? They didn't pump. They gave their babies formula. Some were fired for being pregnant or being a mother.

They stayed home and cared for their babies themselves. They also consumed copious amounts of valium and seemed pretty darn happy.
