I have one TV. It seems like the trend is to have a TV in every room. Besides the expense of the TV there is the expense of hooking up cable in all rooms. I have a friend who just installed on the wall a 42 in flat screen in her 10 yr old daughter's room. Is'nt a TV in every room carrying the need for entertainment a little too far?

We've currently got two TVs. One in the family room and one in the bedroom. At one point we had three TVs, but one was only for watching DVDs or exercise videos, as it did not have cable service.

Two - one in the living room and one in the spare bedroom (that one doesn't have cable).

I have 2 that are hooked up. A 42" plasma in the LR and an old 19" in my bedroom. I do have cable in the kitchen but my 13" tv that I sometimes use there is in my camper for the summer. I do have 2 tv's in my camper though...LOL A 22" LCD that stays inside and the old 13" that I use outside or in the bedroom area. I have a bigger (maybe 27") older style tv that is not hooked up to cable, but it is on top of a tall armoire in the spare bedroom. I want to get rid of it, or at least put it in the basement to store, but I can't move it

Constanz, we had one of those on a high shelf in the sunroom. I described how heavy it was and offered it free on CraigsList for anyone who brought enough help to get it down. We did provide some "aid" . . . a really old and sturdy cedar chest that two men could stand on without fear of it collapsing and a nearby table they could lower it to as a halfway point. Best thing we ever did "giving" that tv away while it still worked and someone still wanted it. Ok, it sounds embarrassing, but we have four HDTV ( 3 Vizios bought at Costco and 1 Mitsubishi that DH used airplane points for). We have one in the living area and one in the bedroom. DH likes to watch a lot of military stuff, and I like my decorating shows. Then there's one in the sunroom and one in the basement. The sunroom functions as a second family area nine months out of the year. The one in the basement is for entertaining down there (there's a pool table) and/or storm refuge. With Directv, I pay $18 more a month to have the extra three receivers. It's really the plan you choose more than the number of receivers that drives the cost up.

We have 4. The big one in the TV room. Small ones in the exercise room, sewing room and eating nook.
We have one DirecTV receiver, but DH can stream Netflix in the exercise room and I can watch DirecTV (or play a DVD) in another room at thecsame time....

3, one in the family room (DS plays his games on that one), one in my bedroom, and one in the excercise room. The one in my bedroom hooks up to the roof top antenna, the family room one has rabbit ears and the excercise one is just hooked up to a dvd player.
We do have a projector in the family room though as well. It has a built-in DVD player and faces a large white wall. One of the best $350 I've spent, that's where we watch most of our movies and it's nice to have a "big screen".

3, 1 in the living room, 1 in my bedroom and 1 in the family room downstairs. The one downstairs is so any future foster children can hook up their video games or whatever down there.

IMO it's pretty sad nowadays that people don't know what to do anymore without being entertained. We watch maybe a total of one hour per week TV, probably less most of the time, none in some weeks. We do watch a movie maybe once a week, on DVD / blu ray.
We have two TV's, one in the living room, and one in the family room. We got super basic cable only, it costs us $12 per month. One of the TV's is barely used, except for a computer game here or there.

I had cable installed in 1992 in two rooms at no cost for install. I have one TV I bought then and a new one that we watch. A old TV in the living room with xbox he never uses and a LCD in the camper we watched once so far. TV is so cheap now you may as well have as many as you want.

I do not understand why my DN, who has a 6 and 3 year old, has televisions hooked up to satellite in the bedrooms of those 2 kids. They have 3 other televisions also.

Three. Living room, our bedroom and exercise room. The one in our bedroom DH got from his Grandma - it's over 30 years old.

IMO it's pretty sad nowadays that people don't know what to do anymore without being entertained. I know lots of ways to entertain myself thank you very much. I happen to enjoy being either entertained or informed with that modern mainstay, the television. You really don't want to go there comparing how many activities we are involved in or how many people we interact with in a real and substantial way on a regular basis.

I used to have 2: I put the big one (19") in the living room and a smaller one in the bedroom when I moved into my first apartment. Then I realized i did most of my tv watching in the bedroom, so I swapped them. Then I moved into a different style apartment (2nd floor of a big old house, it had been carved up into apartments). I got rid of the smaller TV and just kept the one.
My tv is 10 years old so I keep think about upgrading to a larger size (34" maybe?) but I haven't yet taken the plunge. I can think of better things to do with that money!

Two. One in our living room and one in our family room. We got our 2nd tv a year ago, and sometimes still, it seems obscene. We ditched the cable.
I'm in my mid 30's, and I was 5 or 6 or so when my parents got their first color tv.

We have 3. 1 in the family room, 1 in the master bedroom, and 1 in the guest bedroom. I only watch a few shows and the news, but DH is a TV addict and would have 1 in every room - including the bathrooms - if I wouldn't complain about it. LOL!

I have 2. A 42" plasma in the living room with HD cable and a 19" circa 1980 TV in the office with standard cable, the remote doesn't work anymore and the on/off button is very finicky but it has a great picture still so I can't bring myself to replace it especially since it isn't used often. I wouldn't mind a small one in the kitchen since I can't see either TV from there, but there is no room in my tiny kitchen.

Schildi, I will admit that I have too many tv's . . . but for a reason. At 57, reading, my preferred pastime, has become something of a challenge. I have been extremely near-sighted since I was 7 years old. Now I'm into Progressives and the "reading" portion is so tiny. Plus, your eyes' focus sort of gets stuck sometimes. I read aloud to my students sometimes. Then I look at them, and I can't see them at all. I still read a lot, but not the book or two a day that I did in my 30s. So I now watch more tv. It's amazing to me because I grew up without a tv in the house for my first 8 or 9 years. When I moved in with my aunt and uncle, they had a b/w tv in the family room that got two channels. You could get three back then, but they didn't have the tuner for that. I actually grew up listening to the radio in my room. No those radio SHOWS, but 1960s rock and roll. We still do a lot of radio (NPR), and I do a lot of music via the cd players scattered up and down my house. I love music only second to reading. But blasting oldies at 9 o'clock would probably not cut it with my DH so I watch tv in bed instead.

3. A 46" plasma in the LR, and a 32" flat screen at the other end of the LR for the Wii and kid movies. Digital cable on the 46", just regular cable on the 32", but the cable rarely gets used. We also have a 36" flat screen in the Master bedroom, and just got a digital cable box for it on Friday. No TV's in the kids rooms until they are at least teens, and I'm not sure I'll do it then.

But I'll let you back track now. Later, I can tell you that you are wrong on that. Nothing to back track that I am aware of. I don't know, I sense anger in your posts. Are you watching too much TV? ;D (just teasing you ...)
