Schildi, I will admit that I have too many tv's . . . but for a reason. At 57, reading, my preferred pastime, has become something of a challenge. I have been extremely near-sighted since I was 7 years old. Now I'm into Progressives and the "reading" portion is so tiny. Plus, your eyes' focus sort of gets stuck sometimes. I read aloud to my students sometimes. Then I look at them, and I can't see them at all. You sound like me! I read a lot. Lately when I read more than an hour or two, everything is blurry when I quit. The TV, especially words like on the menu, and computer screen is very blurry for several hours. I also have a ton of floaters due to PVD, posterior vitrous detachment. I'm 6 yrs older than you. If this keeps up I will HAVE to get a 42 in flat screen!

Two televisions. We have no cable subscription. One T.V. is for gaming. The big one is for watching DVDs. We also subscribe to Netflix.

We have 2 - 1 in the living room (we only have a living room, no family room!) and 1 in the bedroom. Both have cable hookups. DH's newest project is building a bar in the basement... when he's done with that, we may get another TV for down there. I'm not paying for a cable hookup for the basement, though, that can be a DVD/Xbox TV.

We have 2. One in the living room and one in the basement that DH hooked up to his Xbox. The basement one was given to us by my MIL so DS could play video games on it (he's 4, not going to happen!) otherwise we'd only have 1.
We went 3 years without having a television set. No, we didn't solve world poverty, learn 10 languages, or anything else profound. We spent time goofing off on the internet.
We have cable (but only because DH works for the cable company and it's free). But we rarely watch anything on cable; we almost exclusively watch DVD's and content we've downloaded from iTunes. I think we've rented 1 movie in the last year.
I didn't grow up with a TV in my bedroom, and wouldn't want one. I don't sleep well with TV, but I know some people do.
And as an odd side note - one of the standard questions at our son's annual checkup with the pediatrician is "Does he have a TV in his room?"

Just a 32" SONY Bravia in the living room. I've got a desktop PC in my bedroom that I sometimes use for TV watching. I really prefer my flat screen because it can adjust to 4 different screen sizes. It's great for watching movies.

I have two televisions, a 50 inch plasma I bought in 2009 and a 20 inch Toshiba (old box television) I bought in 2002 for college. The toshiba is a VCR/TV/DVD combo. I really only use the plasma TV. I just keep the 20 inch tv around in case I ever wanted to watch video cassettes or as a "backup." It's not even plugged in right now. I don't have cable or satellite, I use it (the plasma) for playing video games. I can also use my xbox as a dvd player if I want.
If I want to watch a movie I just download it and watch it on my computer.

We have 2: one in the living room and one in our bedroom.
My parents have 10 and I still can't believe it: - master bedroom - den/office - kitchen (a small one) - living toom - family room - my brother's room - my sister's room - 2 in guest rooms (2 guests rooms, 1 in each) - 1 in the family room/game room in the basement
Everywhere you turn in the house you find a tv.

We have 2: 1 in the living room, 1 in our bedroom. Well, I guess we have 3 b/c I have a little knob-only 13" in front of my treadmill in the basement, but I never turn it on. I don't even know if it works.
Our TV's are the old-fashioned tube type, but pretty nice Sony ones. They are both about 10 years old. We keep talking about upgrading, but can't bring ourselves to pull the trigger when we have 2 perfectly functional TVs now. When the basement is finished in a couple of years, we will probably get one that we can hang on the wall above the air hockey table we plan to put in there. Then I'll NEVER see my husband. Hmmmm - maybe we should go ahead and get that stuff now..... ;D

TV's in the kitchen are just weird. It's okay to have on in another room that can be seen from the kitchen, but to actually have it in the kitchen is bizarre.

Sometimes I like to be entertained while I'm working in the kitchen. ;D Ours is just a small TV that sits on the counter and I'd rather have than one running and be able to see it than turn on the big, flat screen in the great room which my back is to if I'm working at the stove. I usually cook and watch the news.

And as an odd side note - one of the standard questions at our son's annual checkup with the pediatrician is "Does he have a TV in his room?" Ineteresting. That's one thing I did right with DS- he got addicted to video games anayway (has now pretty much quit) but he never had a TV in his room. I guess the GAmeBoy and the computer were enough. DH and I have 2- one in the bedroom and one in the family room.

We have 5. Living room: LCD we just bought, mainly used for gaming. Kitchen: Old tube, at least 15 years old. I hate cooking, so offset that by watching Ghost Whisperer. If they ever change the program schedule, I don't know what I'll do! Family room: old tube, 18 years old, DH won it at work. Our bedroom: DH usually watches that before bed. DD's room: Youngest watches that when the two downstairs are used and she can't or doesn't want to watch the program. We pay for cable, but hook up was free for the extra TV's. I've thought about eliminating cable and going w/ streaming but don't see it working for us.

I had a TV in my bedroom starting from age 14 or so... but I saved up my birthday and Christmas money for about 4 years to buy that one I am pretty sure my parents assumed I wouldn't be able to save enough up when they told me I could buy "whatever I want" with my own money, since they were very anti-TV-in-the-bedroom. They were not very happy when I came home with that thing! This was in the late 90s when a 27" tube TV cost about $300. I sold it my senior year of college for $25 because it was so heavy I didn't want to pack it home

(1) Living Room [15+ year old 13" tv] (1) Master Bedroom [big screen, HDTV, I think (1) Scrapbook/Office room [smaller flat screen, maybe 17"]
Technically, DH's computer monitor is a tv, but since he uses it as a monitor and not hooked up to cable, I don't count that one.
DH has mentioned that he'd a like a new big-screen for the game/family room upstairs, but until he gets it finished (repained, new trim, etc.), we're not getting one.

We have 2. One 42 inch plasma in DS' room and one bigger plasma in the family room (don't know the size). It's just DH, DS and I. DS and DH play their video games on the one in DS' room. Fortunately we have never had an issue in which DS stays up later than he should playing video games in his room. Even at 13 he is a "solid 8 hours of sleep a night" kind of kid. Otherwise we wouldn't allow a tv in his room. My parents have- 9 kitchen, upstairs family room, downstairs family room, their sitting room, in the master bedroom, 3 in guest suites, and one outside the grandkids' playroom for the Wii. It's just the two of them in their house.

Your gender doesn't show but you must be a woman. When I lived on my own, I had 4 tv's in the living room during football season so I could watch 3 football games at once and the NFL ticket game summary channel [so I knew where to turn it next]. It was great. We have 4 tv's now: A 46" LED in the living room, a 55" LED in the basement, a 32" LCD in our bedroom and a 19" LCD in the master bathroom.

I'm jealous of people with TVs in the bedroom. I really want one there but wife won't let me. She has something against TVs in the bedroom I guess. We have 2 downstairs and I have a TV card in the computer that gets all the cable stations.
