Oh, there is a lady at my work who seems to have no boundaries whatsoever. We are all inundated with the drama of every aspect of her life, her children's lives etc

What financial success? I don't really have much financial success to hide. Maybe I do for my age, but not in general.

I find it strange that how people can talk so-called taboo subjects like ..sharing your intimate sex/marital relationships in the officeReally?? What company do you work for? This would be sexual harrassment. Who shares intimate couple relations with other people, especially in a place of business with co-workers? Sexual harrassment? what? I work with a lot of women (nurses, social workers, PT/OTs, Nurses' aids, case managers, residents, etc) at work. Some people have this "thing" I don't even have the name for...the need to tell everything in their lives to everyone including their bedroom activities. Some people just don't mind, i guess. I was not brought up that way so it was a culture shock for me .

I also would love to share my success with others but I find that sometimes sharing your success and trying to help others achieve similar success is more hassle than it’s worth. This makes it sound like you have offered unsolicited advice which is rarely appreciated. The trouble with offering unsolicited advice is that 1) you come off as bragging, if not a pompous know-it-all, and 2) you've just put your audience on the defense because you are criticizing their choices. I see no upside to this scenario. I get what you are saying. yes, I've offered advices such as signing up for 403b at work ot get free 6-8% matching from our employer to new orientees, contribute to Roth, etc. I guess I was trying to give back the very same advice that I've received 15 yrs ago. Bec someone was kind enough to share/show me the way to financial success when I was 23, I was able to fulfill my financial goals at young age.

Bec someone was kind enough to share/show me the way to financial success when I was 23, I was able to fulfill my financial goals at young age. It's different to give someone good advice when appropriate (enroll in the 401(k), stay out of credit card debt, maintain a good credit rating). I'd do that in a heartbeat although in my company people don't talk about personal finances so the opportunity doesn't come up. It doesn't mean I'd tell them what I paid to have my suit made or what our cruise for next year is going to cost. I also have any major discussions with our advisor about reallocations among our investments when I'm working from home. We hit the multimillionaire mark last month. My co-workers don't need to know that.
