It has occurred to me that when people are Godless, they still need to believe in something bigger than themselves, hence a lot of liberals gravitate toward religion-like cults such as "global warming", "multi-culturalism" and "progressivism" which all require them to accept many articles of dogma on faith alone (like religion). I guess the only downside to that is that these false "religions" do not require the adherents to keep it separate from governing (like the church and state division that exists with legitimate religion), so we wind up with a bunch of zealots making laws and policies like Cap and Trade, affirmative action and carbon credits based on their wild "religious" beliefs...

Who exactly is science-denier Steven Goddard?Goddard is your typical know nothing AGW denier blogger. He used to be a regular guest author on WattsUpWithThat, except that he became a regular embarrassment, and he and Watts parted ways. In one of the worst examples (although there are so many to choose from), Watts had to apologize for the utter stupidity of one of Goddard's articles: "My apologies to readers. I'll leave it up (note altered title) as an example of what not to do when graphing trends" wattsupwiththat.com/2010/07/02/ar… John Cook rebutted another of Goddard's idiotic WUWT posts here as well: www.skepticalscience.com/Watts-Up… Goddard now runs his own blog. Considering that he was too ignorant even for the exceptionally low standards at WUWT, not surprisingly, very few people actually read it. Apparently it's not his real name and Steven Goddard is a pseudonym, which is funny, because Anthony Watts claims that everybody who writes on his site goes by their real names. answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110309123406AA1ne91Sooo, it appears this Steven Goddard is in NO WAY connected to the Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

Why are glaciers disappearing? Because Dr. Evil stole them.

A quick check of Google seems to show that while some glaciers are EXPANDING, and others are CONTRACTING (as they have for hundreds + thousands of years), none seem to be mysteriously "disappearing."
We visited Alaska's gorgeous Hubbard Glacier a few years ago ... and hiked all around the area. Anyway, they told us that specific glacier was expanding by several feet per day. The glaciers are also growing on California's Mt. Shasta. And I belive Argentina's Perito Moreno glacier is another expanding one. (We loved the penguins in Argentina, by the way!)
My understanding is that is what glaciers do ... they expand and contract in really long cycles.

I suggest you google "are glaciers disappearing" and see what you get.

I suggest you google "are glaciers disappearing" and see what you get. Well I googled are glaciers disappering and got 898,000 results then I googled are glaicers expanding and got 5,020,000 results so by your suggestion more people are talking about the fact that glaciers are expanding vs. glaciers disappering. what do we see from this example, google isn't the best spot for accurate information.

Well, you can at least compare actual photographs and satellite images of past and present, can't you...?

Well, you can at least compare actual photographs and satellite images of past and present, can't you...? How far into the past do you want to go? From the little ice age forward, just the last 200 years or do we want to start with projected weather patterns starting at Pangaea to present date?

I don't think there are photos and satellite images of glaciers from hundreds of years ago.

Well, do your photos show past vs. present trends in glacier contraction or expansion? Otherwise, no.

No, my photos show pretty blue glaciers and the occasional penguin. (Not the Alaska ones, just the South America ones.)

If I were a global warming denialist, I would have asked for comparison dating back to the big bang. But I would also likely be a religious nut job in that case, so I wouldn't believ in the big bang in the first place.
Perhaps to the time of Adam and Eve?

(And I don't think producing fruit trees and snakes are found on glaciers, generally)

Some glaicers in Iceland are expanding also. I suggest you read "State of Fear" by Michael Chriton. It is fiction but deals factually with global warming.

Are glaciers growing or retreating?Although Glaciologists measure year-to-year changes in glacier activity, it is the long term changes which provide the basis for statements such as "Global Glacier Recession Continues". Some Skeptics confuse these issues by cherry picking individual glaciers or by ignoring long term trends. Diversions such as these do not address the most important question of what is the real state of glaciers globally? The answer is not only clear but it is definitive and based on the scientific literature. Globally glaciers are losing ice at an extensive rate (Figure 1). There are still situations in which glaciers gain or lose ice more than typical for one region or another but the long term trends are all the same. It is also very important to understand that glacier changes are not only dictated by air temperature changes but also by precipitation. Therefore, there are scenarios in which warming can lead to increases in precipitation (and thus glacier ice accumulation) such as displayed in part of southwestern Norway during the 1990s (Nesje et al 2008). The bottom line is that glacier variations can be dependent on localized conditions but that these variations are superimposed on a clear and evident long term global reduction in glacier volume which has accelerated rapidly since the 1970s. More: www.skepticalscience.com/himalayan-glaciers-growing.htmSome Glaciers Growing Due to Climate Change, Study Suggestsnews.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/09/060911-growing-glaciers_2.htmlGlobal warming causes climate change. Climate change can affect whether glaciers contract or expand in given areas. But the overall global trend is clear.
