With that said, I'll leave it to you to go pound sand since you love the planet so much.

With that said, I'll leave it to you to go pound sand since you love the planet so much. I think the left is in full blown meltdown. I used to be able to have an actual discussion-- heated as they were, and much as we disagreed. Sure, it would frequently degenerate towards the end of the discussion-- because after all much of liberalism is intellectually indefensible-- but we could all talk, and get along. Now, several of my formerly liberal friends are conservatives- and the rest who are still libs have gone nuts-- not mere BDS / PDS, but just bonkers. Paul- I deleted the last line as it was derogatory toward fellow posters. Deminmaine- Moderator.

How the Right Wing's Worldview Is Torn Apart By Climate Change Science (Major Case of Cognitive Dissonance)A majority of Republicans in Congress reject the scientific consensus that human activity is altering the climate. It's a striking example of cognitive dissonance. It’s been widely proven that fossil fuel interests, most notably ExxonMobil, used the tobacco industry’s playbook and an extensive arsenal of lobbyists and “experts” to manufacture disinformation designed to confuse the public and stifle action to address climate change. As documented by Greenpeace, in recent years this corporate PR campaign has gone viral, spawning a denial movement that is largely immune to reasoned response. While the more powerful climate change deniers have manipulative objectives, such as preserving their vested interests in fossil fuels or political posturing with their constituencies, many on the Right actually believe climate change is a hoax. This PR campaign has contributed immensely to denial, but there is still more to the story. It's interesting how righties selectively embrace science. They seem to LOVE war-related science. They also seem to LOVE medical science when they need treatment. They also seem to LOVE pharmaceutical science when they need helpful and/or life-saving drugs.
But climate science seems to just send them over the edge...

As Ed Schultz would say - that is psycho talk. If political righties would stop lying, the public would be much less confused.

I neither know nor care who Ed Schultz is. Global Warming is a vast hoax attempting to subsidize Third (Fourth? Fifth?) World nations at the expense of the Industrialized Nations via "Tax and Pay" regulations. They will not make one dent in phony "greenhouse emissions", but if passed will transfer billions of taxpayer dollars to countries who are stuck in the 16th (or Seventh) century manufacturing process.

Just as you stated about Santa Claus - those other sciences actually deliver...

People are catching on. Slowly, but surely- the word is getting out. And fortunately the REAL scientists who have been silenced by the warmist zealots are emboldened to speak out now that it's fairly common knowledge in the REAL scientific community that APGW is a giant hoax.

The global warming hoax takes me back to the "end of the world" we're destroying the ozone layer hoax. The hole in the ozone layer in the Antarctic continues to grow and shrink to yet unknown factors even after the political "fix" was done. And before the ozone was the next ice age was coming! Remember CA trying to outlaw cars because they were causing global cooling, and bringing on the next ice age. One commonality of all these hoaxes is the causality is unprovable, and once the hysteria is seen through ( hopefully before legislation is passed ) they tend to go away.

You haven't read much pharma 'science' have you? ... another branch of industry lead 'science' with poor methodology and a penchant for ignoring/fabricating results...

The medicine usually does exactly what it is designed for - its the side effects that they tend to mis label. Or, they just get their buddies in the FDA to quick shoot it through so they can have that wonderful bought-and-paid-for FDA stamp on their dangerous, untested product. And the sheep will flock to it because the government is so protective of the sheeple, they wouldn't possibly approve a drug that wasn't thouroughly tested, right? Because government is all-knowing and all-powerful, and definitely the savior of our healthcare!

In a economic situation where economic resources were properly allocated, the issue of saving production costs through energy savings would be a no-brainer and keeping damn lightbulbs would be looked at as corporate waste through missed opportunity (management screwing up). Just because global warming is evident through hydrocarbon use is just another reason to conserve our resources through efficient utilization.

I think Texas just passed some more goofy legislation about keeping them in texas if manufactured in Texas. Or you can always stock up or fill a wharehouse with them so you and the other old timers never run out- while you are at it stock up on crt TV's and monitors,VCR's and the like- prices are rock bottom! ;D

"Science is the belief in the ignorance of the experts" This quote is in the title line of your link. I’m to take the word of this learned panel of experts on this board. That some also believe their ancestors rode dinosaurs. That believes that God wouldn’t allow man to do anything to destroy the planet. As one conservative congressman put it “The Earth will end only when God declares it’s time to be over,” he said. “Man will not destroy this Earth.” The conservative movement is using religion now to proof its point. You’ve got to love it.

We could nuke the hell out of every inch of this world and Earth would still be there...everything else may be toast, but the world would keep on spinning. But the mighty Liberal Left apparently believes we have the power to shatter planets into dust...

jkapp, we have the power to destroy human life. Sure the planet will go on even if we are not here. The planet got along far longer without us then with us.

"We're so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody's going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save the snails. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? Save the planet? We don't even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven't learned how to care for one another. We're gonna save the f*ckin' planet? . . . And, by the way, there's nothing wrong with the planet in the first place. The planet is fine. The people are f*cked! Compared with the people, the planet is doin' great. It's been here over four billion years . . . The planet isn't goin' anywhere, folks. We are! We're goin' away. Pack your shit, we're goin' away. And we won't leave much of a trace. Thank God for that. Nothing left. Maybe a little Styrofoam. The planet will be here, and we'll be gone. Another failed mutation; another closed-end biological mistake." ;D
Amen- thanks George!

There is no man-made global warming. It is a hoax and a fraud. Period. End of story. There is not one shred of scientifically valid evidence that mankind has changed the weather. I'll admit by being intrigued by theory, and would be for researching the question of "whether or not" we have had ***some*** impact on the planet if some private organization wanted to undertake (and fund) the research. But we know ZIP, ZERO, NADA as of now. We have to start over. ALL the current data and studies have been corrupted. I will accept NOTHING from the people and organizations involved in the current fraud.
The question is how can we push past them, go around them, ignore them, and marginalize these fraudsters so that they no longer pose a threat?

The question is how can we push past them, go around them, ignore them, and marginalize these fraudsters so that they no longer pose a threat? It's going to be tough. They duped a lot of people who lacked the mental wherewithal to make an informed judgment about the issue. Unfortunately, a lot of those "dupes" (for lack of a better word) are elected Democrat officials with the power to make laws and set policy. Now that the global warming hoax is finally all but dead, the adults will need to spend a lot of time and money cleaning up the mess the children made...
