Ooh I didn't spend Wednesday so I think that's 5 for me!
mizbear - good luck with the wasps nest. I have a pretty irrational fear of bees (I blame My Girl) so I would not even go in the house if I knew that was there. I broke a front door once, running away from a bee... and usually have a panic attack when they come within five feet of me. It was funny, a few weekends ago I was eating at an outdoor place with my parents and blue, and they were whispering and I caught "Should we tell her?" and I immediately freaked out because I just knew there were bees in the plants behind me. And there were. At least people know and try to keep me sane...

KCgal is on the road and will be here this afternoon. If I am lucky I will get my housework and errands done before she gets here. Then all I have to do before Sunday is get Calleigh to the vets for her stay at the "kitty spa" while we are gone. Onyx gets to be a house cat while I am gone but I can't leave them both in the house without adult supervision for that long. I am getting excited, we are going to have such a good time.

Hope all of you ladies have a wonderful time this weekend.
Update: 16/20 NSD Doing pretty good so far this month. Have some home projects that I want to do this weekend which require a few trips to Lowes. Hopefully I can plan properly and only have to go there once or twice rather than make half a dozen mini-trips.
Red- I will join you in your irrational fear of bees. Yes My Girl is partially to blame. I have been stung twice- once at 15 and my whole arm turned red and swelled up. Second time was a few years ago. Bee flew up my pants leg and stung my leg. Whole leg swelled up and 12 hours later I broke out in horrible hives. Not sure the two are related or not. But I figure at this point more bee stings will just flat out suck and result in crazy swelling and hives.
Super busy at work lately. Really need to buckle down today but my motivation is wanning.

Have fun in the Black Hills ladies!
I'm heading out in a hour to go to Hutchinson KS with my parents and all their 3 grands. It should be a fun weekend. Cosmosphere, children's museum and zoo. Plus a hotel with a kiddie pool that is indoors.

Sheila - I don't even react to them at all, really. It's a dumb fear for me. I went until about age 16, then got stung by a PO'd bee that had been stuck in the mailbox. I got the mail, so the bee attacked. I didn't even get anything in the mail that day. Major bummer. I've since stepped on a bee at the beach, after walking like two miles barefoot, and then had to hobble back. That one was no fun at all. But other than that my fear has protected me!

Yesterday was an NS. Today will be a CS. The plan (as it stands) is to leave work around noon. Take DC's car to have the oil changed and buy new windsheild wipers. Help DH's BFF move a new desk into his house (he's rearranging, making changes so the house doesn't feel so empty after losing his beloved furbaby), then grocery shop for the MIL and have her take us out to dinner for DH's birthday (Monday). That leaves Saturday for mowing the lawn (if the weather cooperates) grocery shopping for us (if there's stuff we need that we don't get tonight), and going to the dog park with friends. Sunday should be a do nothing day, with the exception of DH's BFF coming over for dinner/board games. I don't really count that, because I don't have to get out of PJs for it. Monday is DH's birthday. I originally had it off, but I took a sick day last week, and DH has to go to school anyway, so instead I'll work from home. We may or may not go out to eat for his birthday. It will depend on what he wants to do. My DOM comes to visit next weekend, so I do need to get laundry done and put away (because otherwise it lives in the guest room), plus clean the tub/shower.

Hope everyone has fun in the Black Hills. MK: Do you want me to start the July thread since you'll be gone? Or will you start it before you leave? Ladies, we are exactly 1 week away from July 1. I'm thinking the July name should be Post Vacation Crack Down July (so it doesn't have a nice ring to it, but so many of ya'll will be on vacation next week, that it makes sense to me )

I definitely need to crack down in July- even if I haven't had a vacation- should we reference firecrackers.....
I am terrified of bees. DB and DM are not allergic (or have not had allergic reactions thus far), but my father is deathly allergic- he should carry an epi-pen but doesn't.

Shanen: Whatever works for you. Let me know.
Sheila: Often an allergy gets worse the more often it happens. I would be very careful with bees if you are having such reactions. The next time could get really bad. Talk to your doctor about it.
Not allergic to bees but am allergic to a few foods where I break out in hives, the bad part is I don't KNOW what I am allergic to. Broke out in hives in the bahamas after eating Conch. Then I broke out in Vegas about 13 years ago after eating at a seafood buffet. I can eat most seafood without a problem so I am just careful.
Off to do laundry so we are ready to go!

Enjoy the Black Hills ladies, I'm so jealous! Take lots of pics please!
Bees - are evil little suckers and I hope they all die. There, I said it. I'm highly allergic to all stinging things and based on the reactions I get when I get stung by a mosquito I have to carry an epi pen in case of bees. Mosquitos cause me to swell up, get nauseous and often violently ill with cold shakes and a fever. Not so much fun.
Last summer I went for a drive through the country. Windows down, music up, singing along when I happened to look down. There on my shirt just millimeters from my skin was a bee. I flipped out and nearly lost control of the car swatting it away.
My Girl is a horror movie and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
What else is new today? Uh, worked for a few hours and then decided to break for Friday. I turned in recycling for $18 and then bought groceries. I need to make a run to the next town for veggies but I haven't eaten today (something like 20 hours) so I'm reluctant to go while I feel this weak.
Dogs are settling in, currently Jackson is in the garage where he can sleep in or out of his crate. There's a fan nearby and blanket in the crate so that's more desirable. Little dogs are in their separate crates with two fans and sleeping quietly. I know they whine a bit when I go out but it's not too bad. They're settling in.

Victory is mine!!! I got a burst of motivation and cleared off my desk. It is more organized than it has been in months. I am going to take Monday off and possibly Tuesday. I know I will still have to come in some but I figure if I forward the office line to my cell it should be ok. I don't get a ton of walk in customers.
Bummed that I am missing the Black Hills Trip but I know the ladies (and MK's DS#1) will have a blast.

blue's flight was supposed to leave DC at 630. Now not leaving until almost 10. I'm never going to see him. Tonight was the one chance this weekend to really hang out together. Booooo. And then he's back down there next week. I hate this. I really hope travelling for weeks at a time isn't a regular thing or this is going to be a very one-sided marriage. And I could probably stop birth control haha.

Ladies have a wonderful time in the Black Hills! It will be quiet without you all. Hopefully next year I can join in - DC area anyone? :-)
Glad the week is over. Semi-relaxing weekend planned - only an extra 3-4 hours of work to do.

went out today for some errands and realized how much I hate shopping on the weekends. Why did I think Costco on a Sunday was a good idea? I had to get out quickly before I knocked over small children and adults distracted by free samples.
Sbcaligirl had her baby yesterday! Hoping to drop by later in the week once her family has visited.
I got nearly everything I need to work on the baseboards, replace the wood on my porch swing. I do need to cut the pieces of wood down and then stain them.

Bees and other allergies - To any of you have had allergic reactions to bees or other things before, even if they were mild reactions, please, PLEASE keep Benadryl in your first aid kit at home and also when you're on the go. I've been allergic to grass (both pollen and contact allergy) my entire life, but I didn't have my first life threatening reaction until I was 24. IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, and often the lesser reactions are just warning signs that you may have a stronger reaction. The other thing to remember is that while a little bit of swelling on your arm or leg isn't a huge deal, if you happen to get stung on the face it could cause much bigger problems even if it's a "mild" allergy. Allergies are fickle. Today I developed hives over my entire face while opening the store. I've never gotten hives without actually touching grass, so even after 3 years I'm still seeing new and different things crop up.
I had a nice, lovely long post written the other night, but my internet has been acting oddly and I lost it. Hope everyone has fun in the Black Hills, I'm there in spirit if not in person. And boy oh boy do I wish I wasn't here right now!

Happy Monday folks! I am in total denial that it's nearly June. What is happening to the time? Jeeze, I blink and a decade has passed. Working from the office this morning since it's pretty cool in here. That may change in the afternoon though. Big team call in a few minutes, very interested to see how this goes. I decided this morning to paint 1-2 lengths of baseboards each night this week. Then I'll move on to the door frames that need touch up and the doors themselves. I have 6 interior doors that need paint and more in the garage I should do as well. In 2 weeks I go back to the bay area to visit my parents and take them out to a baseball game so maybe then I'll have my dad cut down the wood for my porch swing. I'll still need to sand, stain and drill the holes for the bolts. A nice July project And since I already bought all the material it should be cheap.

6NSD I hope I can take this momentum into July. I have been very lackadaisical about my budget and spending. I haven't gone on shopping sprees or acquired new debt or anything. I have just been a dollar here or a few there on my debit card. We are buckling down and going back to cash and only using the debit card for gas (and our bills). Pay day was on the 22nd and before I even had a plan I made three trips to the grocery store $30.12, $25.31, and $25.58. Plus, DH made his own $$24.84 trip to the grocery store for his work lunches, beer, and items for a dinner he planned. Before I could blink we had already spent $105.85 in the span of a couple of days. I went to the bank and pulled out $100 for the remainder of our grocery budget and have spent $30.24. That means from now until payday I have $69.76 to use wisely over the course of the next 10 days. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and fun money. **Gulp** I can do this!
On the plus side our car insurance policy went down $50 a month~yes I still pay it monthly. Someday I'll start working on getting enough saved to pay it every six months for maximum savings.

azmom, start putting that $50/month aside and maybe that would help you be able to pay every 6 months?

update 8nsd the end of the month always tends to do better then the beginning but I think i have a good start overall. And I have new motivation to monitor my pennies. I am going on a mission trip to Africa in Nov that is going to take a chunk out of the budget that wasn't in the budget for the year to start with, so have to rework some stuff and steal money from other things but will be watching the discretionary income outflow closely.

Update: 12 NS + 12 CS = 24 of 26 I will meet my overall goal, but unless the next 3 days are all NS, I won't meet that part. Still, we're doing well. I just cash flowed out August, and its occurring to me, I'm going to have to be careful about the first week of the month for the next year. We've got the mortgage due on the 1st, the payments on the basement work due on the 3rd, and my graduate student loan payment due on the 4th- that's $2600 due over 4 days- which is more than one of my paychecks. Luckily September is a 3 paycheck month (with the first paycheck coming in between the mortgage and other two payments) so that should let me build in a better cushion.
dvm:Oooh, where in Africa? A good friend of mine goes every summer to work with a school over there- she helps design their math curriculum and brings supplies. A couple years ago they brought a telescope. And sure, it will take a chunk out of the budget, but one that is very worth taking. We are certainly here to help you keep an eye on where those pennies are going.

I'm back from my weekend away with my parents and mini-D and chaperoning the field trip yesterday. Now I have DH's sore throat and would really rather be home doing nothing.
Mini-D had a blast at the Cosmosphere, we were expecting one of us to end up taking the boys back to the hotel while my niece went through, but they were fascinated with all the space ships and astronaut suits. And the pool was just right for 3 year olds. Actually they had 2 pools a 3" to 4.5" with basketball goals and laplanes, which my niece liked. Then a little kids pool that went to 1'3" and had rockets with slides built in the middle. Both boys had lots of fun.
Yesterday we walked about a half a mile to the popcorn factory and they let the kids each make an enormous popcorn ball and mix in candy as well. I heard everyone took a nap that afternoon, I guess the walk wore them out.
Have fun in the Black Hills ladies!!
DVM- Tell us more about your mission trip.
Bees- DH is deathly afraid of them and hates that I have Russian sage in the side garden because it really attracts bees. I've never been stung myself, but don't want to find out if I'm allergic or not. In grad school one of my roommates got stung when we were cleaning up after an ice storm (it was March or April) and ended up taking her to the ER because she started swelling up.
