What an awesome speech. I just watched it over again. What a great man. What a great response he got from the Congress. What a clear statement of reality and purpose. What a clear yet statesmanlike repudiation of the Obama anti-Israel doctrine.

It's nice to see that, at least somewhere, there is still a man wearing big-boy pants who is in charge...

I also had forgotten how perfect his English was. So many Israelis are American-born, it is truly a society of aliyah, return to the Holy Land...

Even the lefty media noticed. This is an article from Salon.com, a left wing news and opinion outlet. Of course, like all of Salon's Israel coverage, the comments section is chock full of repulsive left-wing anti-Semitism, but the author's dripping sarcasm can't hide the fact that Netanyahu made a major impression, and upstaged Obama by showing what a real leader is: www.salon.com/news/israel/index.html?story=/opinion/greenwald/2011/05/24/israel

I could just imagine Obama watching it on TV simmering and sneering. Thirty standing ovations, yo. ;D

Character shows when a man talks, which is why I always try to see things instead of just reading them. I'm watching more C-Span these days, trying to get more of a feel for the issues and the people. Kind of boring sometimes.....

You know, I have wondered about how Reid can be a good Mormon and a Democrat, but he seems to be in good standing with the church.. maybe Nevada LDS are different than AZ Mormons??? BUT-- there is NO WAY a respected Mormon could be anti-Israel, politician or not. I don't get Harry, but at least he got this one right.

The U.S. Congress Cheers Netanyahu’s Claim That Israel Does Not Occupy The West Bank Today, during his speech to a joint meeting of Congress, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated himself for “publicly” committing Israel to the creation of a Palestinian state (with caveats) two years ago. He said it wasn’t easy, because it required giving up Jewish lands in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), which he claimed is not currently under occupation: Two years ago, I publicly committed to a solution of two states for two peoples: A Palestinian state alongside a Jewish state. I am willing to make painful compromises to achieve this historic peace. As the leader of Israel, it is my responsibility to lead my people to peace. Now, this is not easy for me. It’s not easy because I recognize that in a genuine peace, we will be required to give up parts of the ancestral Jewish homeland. You have to understand this, in Judea and Samaria, the Jewish people are not foreign occupiers. The West Bank is indeed under Israeli occupation. In fact, the West Bank is considered occupied territory under international law, something even former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon acknowledged in 2003. “You cannot like the word, but what is happening is an occupation — to hold 3.5 million Palestinians under occupation. I believe that is a terrible thing for Israel and for the Palestinians,” he said. And as Media Matters recently noted, even President Bush considers the West Bank to be under Israeli occupation. Yet, seconds after Netanyahu said “the Jewish people are not foreign occupiers” of the West Bank, the U.S. Congress erupted with a rousing standing ovation. Watch it: “Virtually the entire US Congress is reflexively applauding everything a foreign leader says — no matter how controversial,” one observer on Twitter noted. Indeed, Herb Keinon at the Jerusalem Post noticed a similar trend during Netanyau’s speech: Netanyahu could only dream of such a reception in Israel. Even his wife, Sarah, received a standing ovation when she entered the hall. The prime minister was applauded some 30 times, many of those accompanied by standing ovations. It’s one thing for members of Congress to applaud foreign leaders, but it’s entirely another when they praise statements that are not based in fact, U.S. foreign policy or international law. thinkprogress.org/2011/05/24/congress-cheers-netanyahu-west-bank/

I see thinkprogress has some studying up to do on the age old law of war. Maybe they can tell us when the law of conquest was changed. Better still, maybe they can get the ACLU to sue. Way to go Bibi!! Way to go!!

I am sorry but your over enthusiastic feelings for the man reminds me of others from over 60 years ago, in fact there was one particular picture I have been searching for, unable to find it, it is a well published one of a beautiful young lady as that particular gentleman of adoration was passing by in a limo, and the complete rapture on her face, that is what your expressions reminds me of. Can't find it, but realize it's not necessary, just so uncomfortable...not normal, not healthy but realize you wouldn't understand or see the similarity.

He almost drowned in the Suez Canal during a fire fight wearing a pack. Some unknown person reached out a hand and pulled him back.

Men, this stuff that some sources sling around about America wanting out of this war, not wanting to fight, is a crock of bullshit. . . . . When you, here, everyone of you, were kids, you all admired the champion marble player, the fastest runner, the toughest boxer, the big league ball players, and the All-American football players. Americans love a winner. Americans will not tolerate a loser. General George S. Patton

I've been listening to the Netanyahu speech while working on dinner. What an excellent speaker he is! I'm impressed. He is right that both sides must be committed to peace in order for peace to be established.

A letter to the editor: Editor, Was the Netanyahu/Obama encounter at the White House so ego-busting that Obama left town with disaster in America? Even the tornados, death, and destruction in Missouri was not important enough to alter Obama's scheduled fling in Europe. It's clearly understandable that Obama had no desire to remain in America and endure the "truth" message Prime Minister Netanyahu was scheduled to deliver at several events. Netanyahu's speech to a meeting of Congress was of historical note which demonstrated that Congress can act as a single body when they view leadership. It is with great hope that US presidential candidates were taking copious notes on the characteristics of a leader as Netanyahu addressed the US Congress. To add insult to injury, Obama is being pictured drinking beer in Ireland, playing table tennis in England, enjoying tea party time with the Queen...all extremely important events that clearly demand he adhere to his gruesome social schedule...to hell with the people of America and in particular the lost, injured, and homeless in Missouri. If this was a George Bush deal, he would be unwelcome to return to the United States. I suspect the liberal media with be satisfied that Obama indicates he will have some time for the Missouri survivors next Sunday...huh?

Harry Riley, COL, USA, Ret Crestview, FL And I see it, what the Col is complaining about is something Jews like to do, wonder if Obama has any of that in him, get on with their lives, which he is doing. The toast with a beverage, , even with the Irish beverage of choice, "LaChiam", "to life " would have been appropriate, someone should have whispered it in his ear.
