We are supposed to get a parent survey tomorrow, but I don’t expect to see any sort of plan or info before mid-July...and we start back (theoretically) on August 12.

Some good (to me) news. As some of you may remember DGS2, who will turn 3yo this week, had open heart surgery at six months old. Everything went fine at the time and all he needs now are annual check ups. We were somewhat worried about him now with the Covid situation wondering if this was an added risk factor for Little Guy. Well due to the virus outbreak he had a delayed checkup last week and his cardiologist declared that he does not have any additional risks due to this situation! And to make it even better, he had the surgery more than a year earlier than his surgeon preferred due to his failure to grow - at six month he was far below average of a three month old though he was average size at birth - now he is keeping up with family tradition by being taller than average So he is doing well in every aspect

DPI came out with their recommendations for how to handle schooling this fall. One of the school districts here has decided to go to 100% in-person school in the fall though they will offer online learning to anyone who wants. They say the 6' social distancing will be practiced as much as possible and face coverings for everyone will be required along few other measures(frequent handwashing, no large gatherings in cafeteria, more cleaning, etc.). We're still waiting to hear what our school district will decide as it will probable be another month.

This is an awesome news for your little grandson and his family!

Me too, but you are going to love how Little Guy enhanced his mother's description. He went "Oma, I go to the doctor and they put jelly on me and then I got gummy bears". We can say about kids what we like, but they know what is important in this process -> gummy bears

That is the most important part of the appointment as far as Little Guy was concerned.

Oh God. Thanks Gira. I don't want to read it but I'm off to do so now. I just skimmed a few pages because that's all I've had time for. I think the big take-away is that I've already alerted work that conceivably, I may need a flexible plan for the next year. We haven't had as many cases as you. But, in a week we went from 14-40 new daily cases in my county, and a few student athletes-either football or volleyball have tested positive.

Ours is still working things out but my kids have said they wanted to stick with school at home if there's no recess, lunch in the classroom, and limited specials. So I probably need to talk to oped sooner rather than later.

I had PT tonight. Therapist doesn't think I have a frozen shoulder. He said I have decent mobility but it hurts. The pain is in the front, along my collarbone - it actually is like a line that follows where my seatbelt hits. But I've not been in a car accident or anything. The Aleeve is working better than anything else so I'm going to keep taking that.
The garage door opener died. It's been limping along so it's not a huge shock.

So with the pandemic stay-at-home orders I've been able to pass on my monthly massage. It's trigger point massage, and is sheer agony during the massage but seems to help me after that.
I haven't been there since early March. The areas my massage therapist focuses on (knee, shoulder) don't bother me anymore. It just dawned on me the other day, my shoulder/upper arm pain seem to have resolved.
I'm wondering if I should find a different type of massage when this is over or go back to the same massage therapist.
Salons have reopened here, with some precautions. I desperately need a pedi, and I'm not brave enough to see my hair stylist which I also desperately need to do. But with our COVID-19 numbers up and our sheriff saying his deputies won't respond to calls about people not wearing masks in businesses (mandatory again, here), and the number of people I saw without masks the last time I went out, home is the safest place to be.
Glad the Aleve is working for you, Beth. I like Aleve.

Does your therapist do other types of massage? Maybe you can call and talk to them and see what they suggest, if you trust them.
I'm about to take a quick shower. The kids are at ninja camp, I need to pick them up at 1. I'm working from home so I'll call that my lunchbreak. But it's glorious working from home without the kids. Although the cat was trying to climb all over the desk, my keyboard, etc. this morning.

C is trying to convince me that my assigned daily list takes 7+ hours to complete. The list includes getting dressed and brushing teeth so my standards are pretty low.
I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that the same kid who thinks 5 seconds equals 2 minutes of brushing teeth also thinks that 7 minutes of chores took over an hour, but omg.

I may get 2 weekends of no kids in July. My Mom is looking at weekend as I asked her last week if she'd be willing to take them either to Door Co. or just an intown overnight. She said sure. She's looking into the 2nd or 3rd weekend. She told my kids she was working on dates before she told me. My family is gathering at Door Co. for July 4th. I have work deadlines so there's no way I can go. My kids are jealous that they won't be able to go. My sister, who's heading up on Thursday, is making sounds about taking the kids with her when she goes up.

We came home from a walk, my husband laid down, and I was taking care of laundry, so my 7 year old hot himself ice cream. He's a determined (stubborn) little guy, so he figured out how to do it himself. Now my 10 year old is crying and carrying on because no one will help him get ice cream. Earlier today, my husband had to very specifically show him how to do his new chore: sweeping the floor, I kid you not.
Now the 7 year old caved and is getting his older brother ice cream. There's nothing wrong with him other than expecting to be coddled all the time.

MIL took Miss M on Tuesday so that I could get some stuff done, like work on our taxes. It was very welcome.

This is my kids. My 12 yr old can cook more than the 14 yr old. My youngest does want to become a cook, but this only involves scooping out ice cream. I feel like somehow I have to teach the 10 year old to be more self-sufficient. The youngest goes ahead and does things without permission, but I actually prefer that to the whiny can't- do-anything-without-being-led-by-the-hand.

Hello all,
It has been awhile. DH and I are pretty much separated for the last few months as a couple. He has the basement and I took the master bedroom and we share the middle of the house if that makes sense. He was looking at getting a job at a local art store that opened up, but then COVID hit and we put a hold on that. With his asthma and diabetes, I didn't want to take the chance of him getting it either. He is now looking at driving for a landscaping company so we will see how that turns out. The girls are pretty well adjusted. We did take our week vacation to the state park by the beach last week, but stayed at our camp site in the camper and on the beach, which because the state part severely limited who could come in was emptier then normal, and it is normally pretty empty so social distancing wasn't an issue. I had decided when COVID started not to try and switch school districts teaching as well. I am secure in the one I am in, and I have a few kids on my case load where I also just didn't feel like getting a new case manger with everything else going on would be beneficial to them at all. To many changes. Besides that I am taking time to myself when I need it, starting to do more of the things I enjoy and just working on my mental health as well. Hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected at this time.

Found out today that C's teacher has told him all year that he needs a hair cut because he looks like a girl. C told my sister and told her he told us, so she never brought it up before today. Wtf? The assistant principal is who I feel would best address it, but she was promoted to another school. We'll let the principal know. I'm livid and just at a loss for words.

Grrrr....another fight with the teen tonight. We had a tornado warning so headed to the basement. His bedroom is the only one with a bed and Carrot was freaked and wanted to lay down under blankets. While sitting there in his room I noticed a big hole in his wall. Apparently he got mad at me and threw his phone through it. I can't believe the phone survived. So, while I'm telling him that he's going to have to get the mud and fix the wall and probably buy enough paint to do the whole damn room because I used it all and don't think we could ever match it again, I notice another place where it looks like he slammed his head into the wall! That's an area like 3 feet by 2 feet where it's caved in. I was pissed because this is one of the rooms that was just sheetrocked and painted about 6 years ago...which I know a lot of people paint way more often than that, but this is NEW paint and walls to me! It's textured too, so I'll not be able to fix it to look right. He told me it's my fault he busted the wall.

Rae- that is totally unacceptable. I hope they address your concerns.
I've been having a rough time with my kids, which has devolved into me yelling way more than I want to (and really, more than necessary). Covid, man.
So, I cracked open a parenting book tonight to help me get centered and help address both my reactivity and what the kids are really expressing with their fits. I just really need to change.
DH, who always complains about the kids fighting and how "we" need to do something, proceeded to poke fun at me for taking notes while reading it. I just can't. Ugh.

It gets better, minnesotapaintlady. 18 is the worst: they think they're adults and kick like crazy to leave the nest. But it does get better. They've recently discovered that the prefrontal cortex continues to mature until the child is 26 or so. That part of the brain inhibits overreactions and impulsivity, among other things.
