Carl! Long time no see! Hope all is well. All is well, taking it 1 day at a time. How about you? How are your girls doing?

raeoflyte, I think you were the one who posted about the baked potato bar, we tried it tonight when we had people over and it was a big hit. Thanks for the idea!

With Toys R Us gone, where is everyone getting Christmas gifts this year?
Is it pretty much Amazon, Walmart, Kohl's?

I've only been in a Toys R Us once in my life. I almost never go to Target because the closest one is an hour away. I might have to check it out. I just noticed some of the stuff my kids want isn't on Amazon, so I have to come up with other places to shop. Even if I didn't buy a lot at TRU, it was a good place to walk around and get ideas.

If you get the target red card (debit or credit), you get free shipping all the time and it's usually 1-3 days. I just bought DD10 the next size undies and bras without ever leaving the house.

Some mix of Amazon, Target and Walmart is where we do our toy shopping.

I always forget about Target, even though I love their Cat & Jack clothes.
Thank you all for reminding me!

Our Target's have recently remodeled and they look more like a department store like a Macy's or something then Target used to. It's a little odd at first, but I really like it now. The men's clothes kind of Blends into the women's clothes and then the middle are jeans and things that are more unisex. Then they're small areas where they have everything from infants through adult clothes with toys that go along with, say for example the Disney area.

I love ordering online from both Target and Walmart. Spend something like $35 and two day shipping is free.

Carrot wants a life-sized statue of Liberty Lego set. I don't think I'll be able to find that.

You all are making YDD request of a rainbow slime pooping unicorn looking better and better. I think I saw that at Wal-Mart yesterday. Ick. I'll stick to my Christmas dream of a black leather straightjacket with flames embossed on the sleeves and hem. Or 48 hours alone to sleep. Whichever one happens first.

Had a long talk with my parents about my brother today. He was talking crazy right before they left. I told them about this weekend. We're at a complete loss.
Don't care about him my ass. I know that's the miswiring in his brain talking but it's still hard to hear.
I suggested seeing if Nebraska Medicine accepts medicaid for psychiatry patients. We both liked ours. It's not mine's fault I had a bad response to the medication.
He needs more than a talk therapist. This is clearly beyond her scope too if he's been in her care for two months and this is the result.
I also told them an emergency call needs to be made since he's on Wellbutrin which is quite likely the source of the recent escalation. I mean the commericials say to call if you're behaving like he is so they better freaking be able to handle this.

I'm really struggling to nail down E's birthday party. We're less than 3 weeks away. It's a crazy month of home parties. 2 down, and 2 to go with Thanksgiving and E's birthday. She has wanted a home party, but is all over the map on what she wants to do for it. I thought maybe a mobile petting zoo, but those are stupidly expensive here. We did an art party last year and she was just at an art party last weekend so I think that has lost its appeal. It's the end of Nov. so no way of knowing if weather is really nice enough to just rent the bounce house again. I seriously cannot handle anything in depth. I've tried to talk her into a dojo party a dozen times but cutting her cake with a sword has no appeal apparently, and my guess is that the gymnastics room is booked out 2+ months already.
Summer birthdays are so much easier. Fill up the pool, put on the bubble machine and instant party.

Good luck drama. My sister has been relatively stable for many years now, but it's such a helpless feeling to watch your loved one spiral into depression not knowing if today is the day you'll get that dreaded call.

I don't know you're feelings on it but I know Gwen and Abbys heads would explode if I let them have a slime party.
There are freaking tons of different kinds you can make. Elmers has kits that come with everything you need. Craft stores have cheap containers you can put the results in to take home.

A friend did a Geology party for her daughter. From her facebook: Coloring crystals, eating dirt- chocolate pudding with shovels!, rock crystal cupcakes, making fossil cookies, mining for gemstones, geode cracking, crystal structures building, and happy giggling chaos.

My DH has a geology degree and his head might explode at this. Is it wrong to plan this for his 40th birthday next year? OMG he would die. Bahahaha.
