Ouch.I bet that cost some bucks-- BREAKING: Jerome Corsi's Birther Book Pulled from Shelves! May 18, 2011 at 10:50AM by Mark Warren In a stunning development one day after the release of Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President, by Dr. Jerome Corsi, World Net Daily Editor and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Farah has announced plans to recall and pulp the entire 200,000 first printing run of the book, as well as announcing an offer to refund the purchase price to anyone who has already bought either a hard copy or electronic download of the book. In an exclusive interview, a reflective Farah, who wrote the book's foreword and also published Corsi's earlier best-selling work, Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak out Against John Kerry and Capricorn One: NASA, JFK, and the Great "Moon Landing" Cover-Up, said that after much serious reflection, he could not go forward with the project. "I believe with all my heart that Barack Obama is destroying this country, and I will continue to stand against his administration at every turn, but in light of recent events, this book has become problematic, and contains what I now believe to be factual inaccuracies," he said this morning. "I cannot in good conscience publish it and expect anyone to believe it." When asked if he had any plans to publish a corrected version of the book, he said cryptically, "There is no book." Farah declined to comment on his discussions of the matter with Corsi. A source at WND, who requested that his name be withheld, said that Farah was "rip-shit" when, on April 27, President Obama took the extraordinary step of personally releasing his "long-form" birth certificate, thus resolving the matter of Obama's legitimacy for "anybody with a brain." "He called up Corsi and really tore him a new one," says the source. "I mean, we'll do anything to hurt Obama, and erase his memory, but we don't want to look like fucking idiots, you know? Look, at the end of the day, bullshit is bullshit." Corsi, who graduated from Harvard and is a professional journalist, could not be reached for comment. It's a shame Democrats are not similarly, um, "constrained"...

I'm somewhat surprised. Its not like he cares about the truth. I would think he'd be able to save it with some editing and using the new conspiracy theories on the image of the released birth certificate. The birther thread is still going strong.

He sees what happened to Trump. He is afraid of looking like an idiot, and pretty much said so. Too late! LOL! But he was an idiot long before the birther issue. And still, this idiot made the Idiot and Chief release the birth certificate. That can't be denied.

More carp. The lines around the word Male are drawn incorrectly and because of the line I can't tell whether the top of the l is missing.
Most fonts have variable sized letters and book pages rarely have even curvature over the entire page unless they are very very new.
I wish the birthers would attack some legit issues like actual federal laws and policies (Obama is basically continuing Bush policies) most of which I don't like.

Probably rather eat the costs now than have it linger on store shelves and pay for the unsold books and have egg on his face for publishing a flop.

That makes more sense than I'll look like an idiot remark. My guess is the publisher thought he wouldn't be able to get enough postive marketing traction given what happened with Trump and decided that getting dissed by the birther faithful was better than getting a rep for publishing a flop or letting the media have its fun with the book.

I have a question.
Does pulling the book mean that the multilayered "birth certificate" is going to be accepted as if it were the real thing, or is the publisher pulling the book now, so that the entire story can be told with all the details later?

Ummm... the article in the OP is a spoof + satire. The book is still for sale and hasn't been pulled.

for those who read it, but don't believe. FROM ARTICLE: UPDATE, 12:25 p.m., for those who didn't figure it out yet, and the many on Twitter for whom it took a while: We committed satire this morning to point out the problems with selling and marketing a book that has had its core premise and reason to exist gutted by the news cycle, several weeks in advance of publication. Are its author and publisher chastened? Well, no. They double down, and accuse the President of the United States of perpetrating a fraud on the world by having released a forged birth certificate. Not because this claim is in any way based on reality, but to hold their terribly gullible audience captive to their lies, and to sell books. This is despicable, and deserves only ridicule. That's why we committed satire in the matter of the Corsi book. Hell, even the president has a sense of humor about it all. Some more serious reporting from us on this whole "birther" phenomenon here, here, and here. Read more: www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/jerome-corsi-birther-book-5765410#ixzz1MjSgldLW

It's not over yet. Henry is good enough to give us updates almost every day on the BC issue for anyone that wants to keep an eye on what the "birthers" are doing. And, oh yeah-- I do illegals/border updates.... ;D

With a typewriter in the 1960's you can't type letters that occupy space within the area occupied by another letter. Yet in Obama's "birth certificate" that is exactly what is seen. That takes a computer to accomplish.

billsanboard asked: Does that answer your question? Nope. In fact I see it as just more of the same song and dance, and I think WND sees it the same way, as indicated here: It's just the latest attack on Corsi and his best-selling "Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama is Not Eligibility to be President."
Just an hour earlier, a national magazine, Esquire, had published a fabricated report attacking the Corsi book.
Esquire, which endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008 claimed in the fabricated story that the book had been taken out of stores and was being "pulped."
Later, after a long list of major news organizations apparently accepted the report as correct and contacted WND Books for reaction Esquire claimed it had "committed satire".
There also have been apparent links between the book and the president's actions previously. The president himself confirmed he ordered the release of the "Certificate" just as the bestselling "Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama is Not Eligibility to be President," was profiled on the Drudge Report and reached No. 1 on Amazon.
And none of the campaign actions have offered any answers to any of the questions raised by the original eligibility questions – before the "Certificate of Live Birth" was released, nor those raised after.
"If what Barack Obama released is really a valid birth certificate that answers all the questions about this controversy, why is the Obama campaign in attack mode on Jerome Corsi's bestselling book?" asked Joseph Farah, CEO of WND.com and chief of WND Books. "Because he fears it is his undoing.
Do you really think the $1 billion Obama campaign cares about selling a few coffee mugs? Give me a break.
This is an effort to derail media attention from a successful book and media tour that is focusing renewed attention on his ineligibility for office."

Couple that with Obama's T-shirt and coffee mug campaign, , , , where has asks for donations of $30.00 or more, , , , in addition to the cost of the T-shirts and coffee mugs, , , , , is more of the same campaign to draw attention away from the issue of his ineligibility.
Not to say his demonstrated performance in office is anything for him to crow about.

Marshabar, typewriters have always had backspace and the ability to manual push back the paper holder - it was used to place a white out sheet and type letter over - mis-typed letter to white it out. Some models had a white out ribbon for this very reason. Not to pick on you but, do you have a typwriter from those days?

do you have a typwriter from those days? I do. And I used them in those days. IBM produced one in the late 60's that had a proportional spacing capability. It was a special edition of it's "Selectric" line of bouncing ball typewriters, and was designed to set type for full width columns in newsletters and similar uses. It was necessary to type a line, the ball did not move, and determine the number of character spaces and kerning necessary to square each end of the line before actually doing the typing itself. It had to be done one line at the time and was a laborously slow process, but with patience it turned out what, for that day and age, were beautiful documents. It could also be used as a normal typewriter, but the proportional spacing and kerning feature was not designed to be used to fill in preprinted forms such as birth certificates. I believe the investigators are corrcet, that in 1961 there were no typewriters capable of producing the images we see on the White House version of the "birth certificate". But the investigators could be wrong, just as I could be wrong. Do you know of any typewriter that was available in 1961 that could do it?

That takes a computer to accomplish. I'm guessing you never took a piece of paper out of one of them and then later tried to type more info on the paper. I did this all too often. Still the problem may be the scanning software not the document. I know nothing about color scans, but I had a job where we scanned invoices into files as grayscale. It was just an image, no layers but like I said we didn't try to preserve the colors on the document just the info. ETA: If its really a forged image why would the White House let such a bad layered mess out? It might take me awhile, but I bet I could pull off a forgery in a image with no layers.

Most documents that were preprinted with spaces to be filled-in, were designed to work with the typewriters of the day - spacing, kerning etc. that were mechanical standards of the day. I will go to White House web and take another look. It is crazy that any traction is given to this crap at all.

For all you people who still carry on about some conspiracy or other nattering about Obama not being born in the USA I have the following to say. You are wrong. You make yourselves look like idiots, fools, dimwits, dunces, dingbats (a font), twits, tweeds, twerps etc.. You have no distinguishing characteristics that distinguish yourselves from common dog droppings. Please take responsibility and clean up you mess!!
