Awesome! How do I get a ticket to your heaven? Be a lapsed Catholic who loves Muslims. Or muslin. I forget which it is...........And drink a lot. Lapsed catholic....check. Drink a lot....check. Do I really have to love any specific religion? Would not giving a damn suffice??

So, speaking hypothetically, if there is a world-wide vanishing of Christians-- let's assume it happens (I don't care what day-- just in your lifetime) and you aren't one of those Christians who vanishes-- how will you respond to it? Will you admit to being wrong, and repent-- even if it means severe persecution?
(Some Christian fundamentalists believe that if you won't profess Christ in the air conditioning, you won't profess Christ in the heat-- there is no hope for those left behind save the 144,000 jews-- 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes. They will witness, but they will not be accepted or listened to. It's kind of the "I have read and understand" clause of your damnation)
Will you turn to fables like alien abduction to explain it? What about when you see Bible prophecy being fulfilled before your eyes? Will you believe it then? There's good Biblical evidence to suggest that you won't. The story of the rich man and Lazarus is one of them-- Lazarus wants to go back from hell to warn his brothers, but is told that they have Moses and the prophets. If they didn't believe them, they won't believe you, though you return from the dead.
I am a "now or later" person myself. I believe scripture. Sooner or later, you're going to bow and call Jesus Christ Lord. Better now than later.

mmhmm, This one is really cool. He used [glow=red,2,300]math[/glow]: By Camping's understanding, the Bible was dictated by God and every word and number carries a spiritual significance. He noticed that particular numbers appeared in the Bible at the same time particular themes are discussed. ..... The number 5, Camping concluded, equals "atonement." Ten is "completeness." Seventeen means "heaven." Camping patiently explained how he reached his conclusion for May 21, 2011.
"Christ hung on the cross April 1, 33 A.D.," he began. "Now go to April 1 of 2011 A.D., and that's 1,978 years."
Camping then multiplied 1,978 by 365.2422 days - the number of days in each solar year, not to be confused with a calendar year.
Next, Camping noted that April 1 to May 21 encompasses 51 days. Add 51 to the sum of previous multiplication total, and it equals 722,500.
Camping realized that (5 x 10 x 17) x (5 x 10 x 17) = 722,500.
Or put into words: (Atonement x Completeness x Heaven), squared.
"Five times 10 times 17 is telling you a story," Camping said. "It's the story from the time Christ made payment for your sins until you're completely saved.
"I tell ya, I just about fell off my chair when I realized that," Camping said.
Read more: www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/12/31/BA8V1AV589.DTL&ao=2#ixzz1MRcgIhLe When I read it, I did fall off my chair: I knew I hated math in school for a reason. I developed a tolerance for the stuff later in life, but have always looked on it a bit askance since I found out Algebra embraces what they call an "imaginary number". The Easter Bunny of mathematics! 666 is the number of man- imperfection. The symbol of the anti-Christ. On the day after the election of Barack Obama in November of 2008 (look it up) the IL "pick three" lotto numbers were 666. 777 is the number of completion, and 9 is the number of judgment. On the day after the election of Barack Obama in November of 2008 (again-- look it up), the "pick four" IL lotto numbers were 7779 You can make the Bible, or numbers say anything you want it to say because there's always a willing deceptive spirit to aid you.

Does anyone remember the Simpson's episode where Lisa is POTUS and Homer is looking for Lincoln's buried treasure - so he starts at a random point on the lawn and then follows specific instructions - 5 paces south, etc.
That is what this math reminded me of.

Well considering I believe this is true as much as I believe in zombies possibly even less, then I will take my chances. I see it no more relevant than the rantings of lunatics that believe in shape shifting reptilians controlling the planet. Which is more likely hmmm I can't decide. Same goes for the wackadoo math genius(not). Really you can skew math to support any idea if you base it on nothing but hope and faith.
This also the reason many do not support Christians for Israel because we do not believe in a holy war.

I support Israel, but my legal reasoning is this: Israel does not belong to the Jews. It belongs to God. It's His. Jews are the tenants, and they don't have the right to sub-let.

And my question about the rapture is hypothetical-- let's say it happens in our lifetimes. PBP is gone-- lots of other people are gone. You can't explain it-- there is no trace, they aren't down in Central America for a mass suicide- they're GONE. What would you do at that point? What would be your explanation that they are gone?

I don't know what I would do ir seems so far out of the realm of possibility you cannot predict behaviour. What if you woke up tommorow and found out reptilian race was running the world would you surrender or what?

No - if I woke up tomorrow and all my peeps who are faithful believers were gone - without a trace, I would know I was wrong.
But, in reality, I either believe there is no god, or that the rapture happened a long, long time ago (before the 60's!) and we are all living in a godless post-rapture existance.

I guess the reptilian question is appropriate because I realize some of you believe the liklihood that there is a God, or that there will be a rapture is about as likely as the world being run by a reptilian race. I guess I'd have to accept the reality if I discovered it were true. I'd have to deal with the truth of it.

Are you right with God?
Our pastor is preaching a series on the end times right now. Amazing when you consider the prophecies that have already come to pass.

Because you do not believe in rapture or even the bible does not mean you do not believe in god. This is why I am not Christian I don't believe in a vengeful violent god and there are many interpretations of god not just yours.

My church growing up didn't preach the rapture. I thought that was more of a baptist thing. Although I guess my church did preach the second coming. My baptist boyfriend in college said that you don't go to heaven when you die, you just stay in a sort of sleep state until the rapture and then everyone will go all together. That was brand new information to me, even after 1200 church-going Sundays!
I guess there are things we just won't know - at least not for a while.
For all you non-believers out there - I loved the movie "The invention of lying." But, yeah, pretty anti-Christian. I think it sums up the atheist message pretty clearly though.

Since we heathens are going to be left behind, I think we should develop a full list of the benefits we will see. Here is another: We won't have to pick up any more Watch Tower magazines off the front porch.
