Pretty much what I expected- Ron Paul is the only one with any sense- Winner.
Pawlenty reminds me of the SNL character Tim Calhoun, Gary Johnson might be a closet fruit, Santorum-very wormy, Cain - who cares.
For the pubs though, Santorum is their kind of guy. Luckily he doesn't have a shot against Obama.

I have to disagree. If the economy is still in the sewer, which in all likelihood it will be, almost anyone has a CHANCE against Obama. People usually vote their pocketbooks.

Cain 2012. Johnson lacks charisma, seems timid, but nice. Paul is cool, others were too scripted. My pick from last night- Cain. Fox audience group agreed. Only 1 wanted Cain going in, all EXCEPT one wanted Cain going out. Most had never heard of him, I had, from radio. Cain 2012.

Cain 2012.
Way too early to decide, very few canidates were on the platform, wait to find out more about those who are running, don't make your decision off one debate, where nothing was trully said.

I said from last night. My favs at this point are West, Cain, Romney, in that order. Also, SC audience was not happy with the ones that chose not to participate. Several lost votes because of it. Apparently, whoever wins SC in primaries takes the nomination. Others should have made the effort. Too early to pick now, but not too early to start paying attention.

I watched just to see Pawlenty and Santorum- and of course to hear Ron Paul- because I didn't know much about them. I am now convinced that the GOP is screwed next election- who else is there with a shot other than maybe Mitt? Might as well run McCain again. What was Clarence thomas doing up there

As soon as Cain gains any traction, some of his dumb statements will hit the media. He said he would never have a muslim in his administration, planned parenthood is a secret genocide against blacks agenda, and other goodies that no one has exploited yet.

But, ugo-- you will not be voting for him, will you? We'll see how the people that might vote for him feel about that.

Much as I'd like to end the Federal reserve, I think that argument hurts Ron Paul. It's kind of like promising a Constitutional Amendment to ban Abortions. It's an empty promise that's all downside, and no upside. Like abortion, he couldn't get it done anyway, and there simply are not enough people who understand the issue well enough to support him on it so he'll just look like a nut.
It's looking more and more like he'll get the nomination, though-- and if he does, he'll lose. He should win, but for a lot of very practical reasons-- he'll lose. He will make Barrack Obama look reasonable by comparison.
His allegience- or lack thereof- to our alliance with Israel will not sit well with even the most conservative Jews unless he can make the case that we're going to have a TRUE live and let live foreign policy that lets Israel OFF the leash to do as they see fit. Otherwise, his position appears to be very pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel. And I know the facts-- but the perception is reality.
There aren't enough voters out there that see Barrack Obama for the rabid, Jeremiah Wright-following, anti-semite, pro-Palestinian, US hating, anti-colonialist angry little man that he is. And he will look like a nice guy next to granpa mc grumpy pants, Ron Paul. I like Ron Paul. I'd love a President Ron Paul. But it ain't happening-- I just call it like I see it.

Probably not.I have not seen a candidate yet that floats my boat. My intent was just to give my opinion that his statements will come back to haunt him if he gains in the polls.

What was Clarence thomas doing up there In '08, Obama ran on hope and change. Most peoples' hope is gone and there hasn't been a whole lot of change, well for the better that is. No one really new Clinton and this same point in the process when he ran. I will have to admit that I am not really excited about anyone at this point, but I will be watching the process very carefully.

I like Paul, too, but don't think he will get the nomination. I hope not, because you are right- he will lose to the movie star POTUS.

A return to the gold standard sounds real nice too, but it ain't going to happen. I doubt we could shrink our economy that much.I think a lot of Ron Pauls act is just for effect. As one of his coworkers put it,.... "....considering his record is...well … it’s horrid — "351 pieces of legislation he sponsored, six came out of committee, and none have ever passed. And if you go back and look, he just regurgitates the same pieces of legislation. “Restore the Second Amendment.” What does that mean, exactly?
But that’s his bill, and two years later he submits the bill again. He just keeps reprinting these and throwing them out there. And now he doesn’t even get any cosponsors on many of his bills. [With] many of his amendments, he’s called out of order on the floor for even putting the amendment in, because he doesn’t follow the rules of operation in the House.
He’s up there to make a point, not a difference. He wants to be called out of order because then it’s unique and it’s unusual, and he gets press, or at least Roll Call will say “Here he goes again.” But you know, if you do that once a year or once a term, it works. If you do it three or four times a day, it gets old."

No way Paul will win the nomination- it is going to be someone like Santorum that has the approved social platform. Ron Paul is the only one out there with an R by his name that I would consider voting for- he needs to stop hanging around with the conservatives He had an interesting take on malpractice. He had an interesting take on a lot of things- got a lot of applause too- which shocked me considering the audience.

Pubs like Paul. He doesn't win because we know he won't beat a Dem. As paul said, his ideas are too complex for people to understand, and people are too lazy to look in to them.

His ideas aren't complex- people are stupid and lazy. Paul is no candidate for a one issue voter-but he could pull votes from both sides.

it's ludicrous to think the lily white repubs would nominate a black ... it is nothing more than dimwit posturing... righties seem to only find fault with potential candidates, unless they don't have a chance to win (Cain). I want to see more righties tout their choice .. but they tend to be timid lot and try to hold off in some kind of fantasy that a consensus candidate will emerge

Actually, that's all there has been but unfortunately, it's change left in the pockets of middle class instead of actual change in Washington that helps the middle class.
