Z particles mediate weak nuclear reactions. You didn't specify what range you wanted (which I assume is because this wasn't a serious question), and mass/energy is the obvious choice. The mass changes, which you can easily convert into delta-E values upscaling by c2 (hence your factor of ~1017), were taken straight off of Wolfram Alpha. If that isn't the "range" you're looking for (mean lifetime? mean free path?), perhaps you'd care to be more specific in your query.
Weak. It's obvious. Anyone can easily google and see that gauge bosons are dealing with weak force. Mean lifetime is not a distance and I specifically asked for a distance. Stop googling and tell me. I gave you all the information you need to answer the question yet you simply google and write down nonsense. Please tell me how you will get distance from energy change.

If no Moonies are Rovians, and some Moonies are Piglets how call all the left over Piglets be Rovians?

Virgil, can we disqualify SbS for posting links to unopenable docs? We need to punish her.

No, it's my pop up blocker. I could disable it but I don't want your nasty viruses. I heard that engineers as a profession have a 5 times higher infection rate of herpes than the general populace.

Perhaps sir would care to point out where "distance" (or a synonym) appears in the original question (Reply #125).
As for "range of distances", I would plug that into Wolfram Alpha too. Off the top of my head, 10-5 angstrom as an upper limit.

"what is the order of magnitude of the range of interaction?"
Virgil you obviously are not understanding the question. Right here, "what is the range of interaction?" Wolfram Alpha?? LOL would you ask it what 2+2 is and say you know how to add?? You don't understand the concept.......clearly.
Off the top of my head, 10-5
Not even CLOSE!

So if I were to ask you what your work range of interaction is, you'd assume I wanted to know how far your commute was? And if I asked you for the precise number of Ford Model T's that would fit between your house and your workplace, that should implicitly preclude you from using any resource to look up maps or Model T specs, or using a calculator to divide the two distances? ETA: Wolfram has it at 10 -7 - 10 -6 angstrom. How close did you want me to get?

No Virgil. You implied that the Physics I was asking about was easy. If you knew anything about it you'd know what I was asking. Clearly you don't. I design questions so that you can't simply run and get the answer by blindly trying to punch in some numbers into an on line garbage in garbage out program. Either you know the terminology or you don't. Clearly you don't. I'm not even sure you know what a range of interaction is. Quick plug it into alpha and see what you get maybe you'll learn something AHAHAHAHHA

Ok, so how do I delete my wrong answers (when they are attachments)? I know I can't just delete the post (as per poor Angel), but I don't see any options when I modify the post?

That's not even close LOL Why do you think you can get the right answer by plugging randomness (because that's what you're doing if you don't understand the concepts) into a program. You need to know what you're doing to use programs to work for you.

Believe what you will, sir. It's no skin off my nose. The data I provided are all valid. "Distance" is nowhere to be found in the problem statement and isn't implied by convention or for logical consistency. Your claims otherwise are false. Your statement "I design questions so you can't..." is an excuse. You've given me no credible feedback. Our transaction is out there for others to read. I see no point in arguing with you.

Virgil if you want to continue to look ignorant, please conitinue. You may be able to fool those who don't know by your gibberish but not someone who knows the field. Thinking you can take a physics problem which you know nothing about and thinking you could easily look up the answer on some web site failed miserably.

Doc - This isn't a pissing contest. Virgil is the only one who tried to solve your problem and you are putting him down without any helpful input. If you don't think that he can solve it, post your solution and the backup.

Whose questioning who? I posed a problem and someone thought they'd "show me" yet they got shown. I'm sure Virgil is intelligent on many things. Physics, not so much. BTW what didn't you understand that my spelling was so bad or are you just trying to divert attention?

If anyone besides you is even the least bit interested, I invite them to challenge you to prove me wrong. You'll either fail trying or make up an excuse to avoid an attempt. Either way, I'll take a look when I next log on. Have a pleasant rest of the morning, sir.
