I won a rooster at a local rodeo in a put the panties on a calf contest... yeah, you read it right.. Took it home, put it in the back yard. It sat in a tree for 3 days, then I never saw it again. Call me crazy, but I loved the sound of all the roosters early in the morning in that little town.  |

AGAIN (and more slowly for those that can't catch on) the TOWN will NOT allow roosters if they pass the rule for chickens. NO MORE than 10 chickens TOTAL for anyone. If you have less than a full acre, no more than 5 chickens total. NO ROOSTERS.

Only when you don't have a rooster or gay hens then skunks will make a move on the Hens and try to score big time which as you can imagine some lousy eggs will be laid that will reek and stink..
Although some folks may like their eggs to have a pungent smell but most of us would pass on those eggs

i think PI is attempting to yank our collective chains on the skunk/chicken thing...  Excuse me Ma'am but yanking chains is NOT my thing but trying to warn about the perils of having hens without roosters can be highly risky in the spring when Skunks are on the prowl for a quickie in the hay with a fat old hen...and that you can take to the bank.. If you crack open an egg that really stinks the chances are a Skunk was fooling around with the Hens |

Most of us would be too embarrassed or have too much pride to post something so vile and disgusting but then again consider the source.. and if it upsets your delicate sensibilities so much, report it..... let a mod decide if it's 'vile & disgusting' or not..... ;D Everyone knows that skunks and hens mating is common when Roosters are gone or not able to perform....check it out....I am surprised you are not in tune with nature Skunks and rabbits can really get it on when they are in the mood which is quite often.. You should become more familiar with animal husbandry istead of playing the role of victim ad nauseum....just saying |

and as I've said like 5 times now..... we have coyotes and bears around here, skunks aren't a problem. and the city will NOT ALLOW roosters. Need a q-tip so you can hear what is being said
Q-Tips are dangerous and should never be used to clean out wax from your ears....you should use just plain old warm water instead in case you were wondering...
And when the skunks in your neighborhood begin screwing your old fat Hens don't say you were NOT warned...

]i think i'd be more worried about dogs/rats screwing old fat hens just to cheat them out of whatever they can, personally.
I agree that would be a concern but their mating with Hens doesn't usually result in stinky eggs Skunks are the villian because of their scent which is passed through their sperm into the Hens eggs.
