Your "Sushi" stories crack me up.
I've heard of Sponge Bob-Square Pants - but never Spaghetti-Underpants. Yeah, my little sweetie pie keeps me in stitches. I never had a cat like this. 20 pounds of personality. Not all of it good.

I remember when you injured your arm, yes, Welts. I'd injured my left arm in much the same way (except, I also broke the humerus along with the damage to the rotator cuff). I knew what you were going through, and I know it's probably worse now with both arms injured. Hugs, hon. I'm so sorry! I feel fortunate! The Chooch only weighs about six pounds. If she weighed 20 pounds the house would be a shambles!

I'm going for acupuncture on Thursday. I can't take the pain any more. At this point, I'd try voodoo if I thought it would help. I'm absolutely nauseous with pain. Last night I thought I'd have a little yoghurt, just to put something in my belly. I opened up a quart container of yoghurt, put a little in a bowl, and forgot to put the container back in the fridge. Do the math. Yep, you guessed it. Sushi LOVES yoghurt. He knocked the container off the counter and it exploded on contact with the kitchen floor. It looked like a giant ejaculated in my kitchen. Stupid cat.

ROFL! Sushi served himself ... as usual! I was assisting mother with her bath this morning when a loud, bell-like tone echoed through the house. Even mother heard it, and she's nearly deaf. I got her into a position of safety and headed out to see what the heck had happened. I knew where the sound came from. There's The Chooch, sitting in front of the big Indonesian gong that occupies one corner of the dining room, shaking her head and looking just a bit befuddled. The scarf on the dining room table was in a wad at one end, so I put two and two together. Darn cat slid all the way down the table and off the edge, straight into the gong, head first. I think if she'd tried to get up and walk she'd have fallen over. Hopefully, this will not become a game ...

How'd the acupuncture work out, Welts? Sure hope you were able to get some relief.

How'd the acupuncture work out, Welts? Sure hope you were able to get some relief. Ok, I'm back. Now, I was never much of a fan of alternative medicine, but I was desperate. I would have danced naked under the light of a full moon, shaking rattles filled with babies teeth if I thought it would help. Dr. Yuan has a medical degree from the University of Shanghai and a degree in sports medicine from the Université de Montreal, so I figured he kinda knows what he's doing. After turning me into a pin cushion, I was so relaxed, I fell asleep to the soothing plink, plink, plink of Chinese music. After I was done, he slapped a patch of medicinal herbs on me and I was on my way. I had no idea if it helped any or not. It was a beautiful day, so I rolled down the drivers side window. After doing so, I realized I did it without thinking, and without being rendered comatose with pain. Clearly, something is working. Yes, I'm going back.

Yup Welts that sounds really good. I'm thinking of going to a reflexologist and getting my feet looked after.

That's outstanding, Welts! I've never experienced acupuncture, but have talked to people who swear by it. If I ever have cause again, I'll give it a try if I can find a practitioner I think might have the know-how. Unfortunately, I don't live in a place as civilized and cultured as Montreal, so it might be a bit more difficult here. I'll have to have a look around and do some research. Sure am glad it worked for you!

I may have spoken too soon. The pain is back, as bad as ever. I realize I have to have several sessions with the acupuncturist to see real results, so I'll stay with it. I just hope I'm not throwing my money down the drain. It's not cheap, and my insurance only pays a very small portion of it, because it's not "real" medicine. We'll see.

Well, I just got back from my second treatment. As you know, I have never been a huge proponent of alternative medicine. As far as I was concerned, it was for gullible people with more money than brains. This time, he used many more needles. As soon as he inserted them, I felt a radiant heat spreading out from the affected area, enveloping me in its warm embrace. Clearly, something was happening! How could I have been so wrong for so long? Evidently, inserting needles into the body's pressure points does something. What other reason could there be for this wonderful warm feeling spreading throughout and giving me succor and relief?
After he removed the needles, I was able to turn around. It was a heat lamp trained on my shoulder.

Welts I've been thinking about this, maybe the heat lamp was there to heat up the needles that were inside you. I'm thinking that's how the heat gets inside you.

Well, I've gone for acupuncture 5 times, now. I figured 'What do I have to lose?'
Turns out, I had plenty to lose. There was a giant sucking sound coming out of my wallet. He also did cupping with glass jars and candles, and therapeutic massage. I'm no better. I still cry trying to put my pants on.

Damn! I'm so sorry it didn't work, welts! Are you doing any physiotherapy? It hurts like heck, but it does help over time. It took me almost a year and a half to get to where I could move without moaning.

It took me almost a year and a half to get to where I could move without moaning. You aint heard 'nothin yet! I have a friend who does Reiki....tranferring universal energy in the form of qi to promote self-healing, also known as the laying on of hands. She did it on me....nothing. A Baptist coworker was walking by the desk when she stopped dead in her tracks, and said that God just told her to heal me. She went into a trancelike state and then did some manipulation. I wasn't going to stop her, as I was really curious as to how it would play out. I figured that if it worked, this atheist would be in church the next morning shouting Hallelujah. What a great and inconspicuous way to get me back into the fold...it's not like I'd be growing back a limb or anything. I guess God was just messing with her. Nothing. At least I gave this alternative 'medicine' a good old college try. Just as I thought...it's all crap.

I've never had any faith in it, either, Welts, but have never really had the occasion to try any of it out. I just kept up the physiotherapy on my shoulder and it eventually worked as well as it was going to work. I don't have the same flexibility in that shoulder I have in the other one, but it serves my needs and doesn't hurt with every movement.

The doc said it's still very, very inflamed. and with me not being able to take any anti-inflammatories....

Wow! That's really a shame. The sooner you can start working on it, the better off you're going to be; however, with the inability to use anti-inflammatory meds, you're really between a rock and a hard place.

The receptionist at work is having brain surgery and will be off for at least six weeks. They asked me if I'd like to fill in for her, just to make some extra cash. It's only $18 an hour and it involves doing very little besides sitting in the lobby, greeting visitors and answering the occasional phone call. Sure, why not?

I made myself a nice chicken sandwich for supper at work. I was packed and ready to go when I noticed Sushi acting peculiar...busy under the coffee table and not trying to escape as I neared the front door. Sure enough, he had dragged the sandwich out of my bag and was chowing down on chicken and sourdough.
