I hope the monkey in my comp didn't get in yours, moon!! I HATE comp problems. Still don't know why my comp wouldn't do karmas. Virgil just set MY board settings different to fix it. It's still in there somewhere, sure I will meet it again some time.

aahh, so that's why you have time to post- work is wonky. Well, if you can get paid to post while they fix it, more power to ya!! I think this time with my busted bones is the first time ever I have posted without guilt that I should be doing something more constructive or profitable-- cuz I can't walk!! I like it in a twisted way. Like a painful little vacation!! ;D

P.I. ... are you a current Marine, or a former Marine?

P.I. ... are you a current Marine, or a former Marine? Sorry Ma'am but there is NO such thing as a former Marine unless he or she was given a dishonorable discharge....once a Marine always a Marine even after we pass on and are assigned to guard the streets of heaven..but not sure we will retain our current rank as guards at that duty assignment..

Oh, crud... it's the time of day when the board dies...I wish we had a night shift. UK people are on while many are off here. We used to have so many neat UK people on some board I was on. Too many trolls to go put out an invite in msn UK, though.. Wait, did that board shut down, think maybe. Rumors TV is going down, too. Some really cool people there, some total idiots.. mods would need to play whack a troll some..... Geez, I need to go get some new library books...... b o r i n g............ Only 6:30 here, AZ time..

Wait a minute. I'm confused. I thought you had to accept JC as your savior to go to heaven. Now you're saying all marines go to heaven. What if a marine happens to be Jewish or Muslim, does he get a free pass and still go to heaven? Or is this too deep for the chat thread? I'll go back to drinking my wine.

I think what Molly was asking, P.I., is are you currently on active duty? (I have several relatives, one on active duty, and the rest honorably discharged who have served in different branches of the armed services--everything from WWII, Korea, Middle East (1980's) to the present.)
Whenever you served, you have my admiration & respect. Too bad more people don't realize what a tough gig you have. Semper Fi!

Isn't Molly's husband on his 10th tour of duty overseas, or something like that?

ETA: you said "ex Marine" not "former Marine". I always equated "former" with "ex" so would you mind explaining the difference? thanks...

not my personal computer... a server, which hosts web applications for one of my biggest accounts.. they have had many different levels of solaris and oracle analysts looks at the diagnostic log files and core dumps, and at this point they are looking at replacing the system board (aka motherboard) HUH... ;D Have they tried the tried and true, one semi hard slap with a open palm to the side of it, with a murmered bitch , reset already at the same time?

This is indeed too deep for the chat thread and go back to drinking your wine ..
I said Rick Monday who played for both the Cubs and Dodgers was an ex Marine and I should have said he had served in the USMCR for six years ...must have been thinking of ex wives so it was a Freudian slip or misstatement of fact which has been known to happen on occasions..
I always equate ex with ex wives and not ex marines...must be a chauvanist thing I guess??
And No I am not on active duty or inactive duty status...

I believe 7th deployment or his next one will be, she mentioned when he reaches his 10th I think he gets some thing...think that part was a tongue in cheek josh. Believe he flys F-15's , not sure as pilot in command or the whizzo..what ever , he has seen his share from what I understand.

I believe the references to Marines guarding the streets of heaven is a line from the Marine Corps Hymn: If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven's scenes; They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines. As to my wonderful DH, he is a pilot (and instructor pilot) with the Air National Guard ~ but he's full-time, active duty (and not a "traditional guardsman." When he is on Title 10 orders and/or deployed overseas, he serves with the USAF. He spent about 10 years as an F-16 pilot, but now flies a different "unspecified" aircraft.... that I'm not supposed to blab about on the Internet.

Oh, and he's had 7 deployments so far flying the "not so friendly" skies over Iraq. (Not to mention deployments elsewhere in the world.) His next deployment is scheduled for later this year ~ and may be to Iraq, or may be to another combat zone.

And I'd mentioned up thread that when he's completed his 10th deployment, I believe he will be eligible for a set of free steak knives. (grin) In the meantime, he's got 6 Air Medals ... each one representing 20 combat missions.

I just hope with so many deployments all is well when the mess in Iraq and Afghanistan is over and done with.. Not sure if I could do seven deployments in a combat zone but with the INTERNET and video conferencing with family and friends that may help somewhat ?? Can you guys send text messages on your cell phones?? Combat pilots are a special bred of person and how each one can deal with all that stress of flying combat missions is amazing to me..

He has no cell phone coverage when he deploys. He does have access on occasion to landlines. While he has internet access, he does not have video-conferencing capability where he goes due to security restrictions with his specific unit and assignments.

Well the internet with email is probably much better than snail mail but it probably also has security restrictions in a combat area..
Can you download pictures to him via email?? That would really make your DHs day IMHO..

Yes! I send him photos all the time ~ several times a week, usually ~ of all sorts of things! (I'm quite the shutterbug!) I also send him more care packages than he knows what to do with (and he's great about sharing, too!) The ladies at our local post office know me so well that they even gave me a Christmas card + gift last Christmas (It was stamps, how cool is that!?)! And, of course, he goes in and says hello to them after each and every deployment.

Too bad that you cannot send and receive photos and text messages with your cell phones...I think that is much better than emails..and with Bluetooth in our autos these days is also a blast..
One thing that really helps morale is when some grammar school kids send cards and letters...some of their questions are just awesome...one little guy in my sisters class in Fairfax VA asked me if I ever shot anyone and what was that like?? And he was in the 3rd grade..and when I came home on a 30 day leave I visited that class and chatted with that little guy.
And got lots of hugs from her class and we brought the kids some gifts .

That's ok ... I don't even own a cell phone. We do have one in the house ~ but it doesn't do "texts" and doesn't have a camera. I'm not much into technology

Molly, your husband sounds like a really great guy! It's obvious you care very much for one another, as well as for others. Yours isn't an easy life, so may I say thanks to you, and to your husband, for all you give. It is appreciated!

I saw Walgreen had their own brand on sale 2/5 in a small neat plastic container, fit neatly into a back pack and I talked to the manager if I bought a case or two, if he could get us a even better break and why I wanted them..to make it short, while he checked with higher ups , I mentiioned it at the VFW and before I left that night had $63 bucks toward the purchase, it was a slow night, LOL, and when I checked back Walgreens following week, they gave us a 20 % discount on top of the 2/1 price any time . We sent some cases to him through his unit..he had just been deployed about a month or so ago, so was going to be there a while and we sent some more to another Marine unit , one of the guys dropped in to the recruiting center and talked to a senior non com who knew of some deployed units there, did it fast , didn't want to go through all red tape, and the cards and notes back from folks were great . We posted em on the bulliten board and have raise funds a few times now, and Walgreens, the one I went to, have honored the deal both times even though the item was not on sale. I brought a few of the notes sent to us to him , mgr of, to show the appreciation, and he copied sent to home office plus posted in his break room. Interesting how little things can do so much for the guys/gals over there. Shows they are remembered.

I feel like crap today. Aches and pains all over. Apparently when you have a broken weight bearing bone you torture muscles all over your body trying to avoid hurting the broken bone. So frustrating. Well, off to see what "fun" is on the board today.
