Would it be inappropriate to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and say I can't wait for the new kids on the block to come in--- hopefully they will do something good, or their booties are in deep manure. Hope everyone stays safe tonight. This is the first NYE in 10 years I have not been out driving a cab. My feelings are very mixed. Happy New Year, everyone.

Krickitt- I don't think the time is here yet. Wait until we have a currency crisis that results in the welfare queens, illegals, and federal and state employees getting their meal ticket cut off; then there will be a show. Picture the riots in Greece but with all the rioters armed. I expect it will be horrible and fascinating. Like witnessing a fatal accident.

Nah, most of them are in the cities. The real show would be afterwards.

Indeed Trae. But it will be something to watch on the evening news. Don't you think?

Wouldn't a true red blooded republican patriot be out participating in the beat down instead of just watching it on tv?

You mean the guy that was shot dead after firing at several people seated and not running away and yet managed to hit none of them? I think that would be called an epic fail on his part.

Wait, first you called the school board libs, but now the guy that couldn't hit the side of a barn with a giant target is the lib? Which is it? I thought it was widely agreed that libs don't own guns.

Steff- Nah, my beat down days are long past. But a won't have a problem with Darwin principles asserting themselves when the storm hits. And for the record, I am a card carrying Libertarian. It matters not to me if the people who have been feeding at the taxpayer trough get a harsh lesson in life.
Ugonow- Good eye. The symbol is from " V for Vendetta ". I suspect the man in the school board meeting was a case of suicide by cop. He was the only person hit on that day. A sad day for all the people involved.

Nothing gives everyone the warm fuzzies and the willingness to try and work together to fix our country like a good beat down in the streets against those some find inferior and the added bonus of getting to watch it on tv from the comfort and safety of your own home..... ahhh what it means to be an true American patriot nowdays.

Steff darling, there is a storm coming. It's coming just as sure as Katrina was bearing down on the gulf states. I plan to take care of the people that I love and am taking steps to do so. I expect to be well out of harms way. If you would, could you explain what you think I should do on Monday, this brand new year to fix things?

You feel the entire system is being held together by ever-weakening duct tape? At one time I would have said only 1% or so "got it". But when I moved and went to my Xmas Party, I was amazed at the conversations we had after a few drinks. I'd say 25% of my company down here relocated to weather the storm, so to speak. And some of these dudes are pretty high up. For those who think the laws of economics stop at the shores of the American Empire, well...sorry!

Oh come on now pappy, do you really think for a second that I believe you'd really want to hear what someone who is a dreaded Dem has to say about anything? I know better....

Indeed, at this point tears are futile. I am trying to warn my friends of the coming storm but I am branded as parinoid. Well, when SHTF I will try to get those I care most about ut of the danger zone and see what's left when things settle down.

Well, when SHTF I will try to get those I care most about ut of the danger zone and see what's left when things settle down. pappy, I was called all sorts of names when I said the NASDAQ was going to pop like a big zit. Same with housing, same with the current Treasury bubble. Not a damn one of them was right about the last two bubbles and they're trying to tell me gold is the bubble, when not even 2% of Americans own it. LOL. Two words come to mind: OH WELL. If everyone "got it", they'd all be rich. Life doesn't work that way. Mark my words on this, pappy. When the bond market bubble does pop, we will be told we should feel sorry for the suckers who mocked us the entire way. That's why I got the hell out of Dodge and moved to the country. People honestly think you can print your way to prosperity. They honestly think this govt. knows what the hell it's doing. I guess this time is different? LOL

Trae- I spent this summer shopping for hobby farms, mostly in Amish country. The realtors stated that there was a lot of interest in places to "ride things out". Heaven knows that I wish things were different but I gotta take care of my own.

Heaven knows that I wish things were different but I gotta take care of my own. I only wish things were different because of my children. Otherwise I would have relocated OCONUS years ago. The uber-wealthy are buying up property in places like Singapore because they know what's coming. All one has to do is "follow the money". Capital is fleeing this country. Noone with a ton of money on the line is crazy enough to invest in a country printing money faster than it can cut down trees, LOL.

My son will be 21 in February. You know what though, I think there is still enough good blood in this country to put things back together after the storm. Remember the phrase " The cowards never started and the weak died on the way"? To me it's kinda like that. I am just to stinkin' proud to bail, even if I had the means.

If I had children your age, instead of 3 months and 3 years, I'd feel the same way. But it's moot because there's not a damn thing I can do about it. I moved where I am to weather the storm and I plan to stay here. But back to the topic, Paul Ryan is going down the right avenue but it's too little, too late. We're going down the road of severe inflation because default would render the banks and politicians powerless. All one can do is protect his/her wealth in anything but a depreciating currency.

That's how I see it as well. We are about 20 years to late. Do you expect German style hyper inflation?

That's how I see it as well. We are about 20 years to late. Do you expect German style hyper inflation? Hmmm...I have said before that I parallel what America is going through as more akin to the 1340s Medici banking crisis or the Kubalai Khanate in the 1200s. I have no doubt we will get severe inflation because 1) That is what Bernanke wants, in order to repudiate the debt; and 2) Lack of confidence in the Federal Reserve Note overseas. Whether we get hyperinflation before we get a new monetary system is hard to say. It is also hard to give a timestamp because these guys have papered it over since 2008, when it should have died. The sad thing is they've only made the endgame that much worse. Americans don't get it, but the rest of the world does. They're coming from the perspective of "been there, done that." Americans are coming from the perspective of "who's the next judge on American Idol." America could learn a lot from China, TBH.

Where were all you Republican patriots when Bush was squandering Clinton's balanced budget and starting illegal wars?
It says a lot about the righties who looted the Treasury and now want it replenished by cutting social programs for the Middle Class and poor.
Is it true that Republican babies' first words are "tax cuts"...?
Oh, but don't worry about offsets for those tax cuts for the rich - because they will trickle down on us.

If we inflate our way out of debt it's gonna leave the people we owe mighty PO'ed.
WWIII?

I've been preaching from the pulpit since 1999, Lakhota. You all just weren't listening. Like now, as a matter of fact. One thing I have learned in life is that it does no good to try and teach those who are interested in group think shenanigans like the Republicratic circle jerk. And BTW, Clinton's "balanced budget" was cash-based, not GAAP-based. There was no balanced budget. www.shadowstats.com

WWIII? I go back and forth on this one. We could issue a new currency domestically, and screw Americans but pay back foreign debt at or near par. It's been done in the past in other countries. I believe even the Brits did it with the pound sterling at one time. We could repudiate all the debt, but we are the largest debtor nation in the history of the world, so how the hell could we survive without that trade? I have long maintained, since before Obama was elected, that he was a lock to get elected in 2008. But he's a lock to get booted in 2012, unless he foments total war.
