'Official' 2025 trump Administration Thread

The scariest things he said he will do seem to involve suspending the constitution. I am hoping that won’t happen - but if it does, we are fucked.

He can cancel elections, or revoke voting rights. He can stay in office. He can turn the military against citizens. He can make Christianity mandatory, and all other religions illegal. He can silence the press. He can randomly revoke citizenship. He can revote protections for just about anyone. He can obliterate our criminal justice systems and randomly throw anyone in jail - maybe even execute the Central Park 5. He could take everyone’s guns, or at least take some people’s guns. Obviously, there are a bunch of other things he could do - but this list includes my top concerns.

There will be raw milk people - but it is expensive, and some of it taste like butthole. So, a lot of people won’t do it just - but will still insist it is so good for you.

Oh I know exactly what our governments will do. Because Trump is just being a performative ass, our governments will put tariffs on US imports into our countries. The same as happened last time.

I agree with mollyc if he was really serious, he'd address why it's coming to the US instead of trying to push the work off on other countries. To me this is proof he is lazy and does not expect anything to change. It's just MAGA marketing like Mexico not paying for the Wall.

It will also raise the price of groceries. A significant amount of produce comes from Canada and Mexico since NAFTA.I guess this means rip he really doesn't have a commitment to reducing the price of groceries if he wants to raise prices on some of it by a minimum of 25%.

The farmers are begging to be exempt for his rounding up plan.  How's that going to work?  I'd say the ball is in Trump's court.  Let's see what he does with it.  

Just interested to know, do you believe they should be exempt?

The MAGA mantra that comes from Trump is always blame someone else.  And you are 100% correct.  The market for drugs and undocumented workers cause problems in other countries.  But instead of addressing the issues, we just say AMERICA FIRST.

This is also a violation of the trade agreement Trump himself signed in 2020.

I disagree that they have the ability, and not simply due to corruption. People are not as controllable as some seem to believe. You can read about the execution of drug dealers in countries with very strict laws. The fact that those individuals existed are proof that countries can't eliminate drug trafficking.

Another factor in this is that Trump announced this major unilateral decision in a social media post with an effective date of less than 60 days. It is policy making that will create chaos. I don't know if that is by design or just the product of a non-disciplined mind. Either way,  I don't think it is good way for US policy to be conducted.

Just heard on the TV tube that 80% of the drugs coming into the country are being brought in by Americans in their vehicles. 

Are they supposed to keep Americans from coming over their border in the first place? Start forcing all American cars coming back into the country to undergo a stringent search? That will be popular….. And not cheap.

The plus side of his untrustworthiness is that although he definitively declared he would sign the documents to impose the tariffs, it doesn't mean that he will end up signing them. He could easily never mention them again or claim they were, like ripvanwinkle called it, a shot across the bow just to get their attention and he never actually planned on imposing them. The only thing we can be sure of is that he won't say that he was convinced by others his plan to implement them was a bad idea.
