Anticipated Traumatic Stress Disorder
In speaking with my county Auditor yesterday evening, she indicated that many of her fellow election officials were suffering from serious concerns regarding the upcoming ballot processing process. The above is what she labeled it, with a nervous laugh. She said 12 years ago she ran with a strong (Republican) bias but has learned how the vote gathering process should be totally nonpartisan. She wouldn't say it, but it was clear how disgusted she was with Trump.

I will be part of a team going out to retrieve ballots from a drop box. We met last night to review process and discussed personal safety concerns. Ridiculous that is something we should have to be worried about doing that job.

Pennsylvania county says it discovered up to 2,500 potentially fraudulent voter registration attempts “Our systems work”: D’Agostino said catching the problem was an example of their processes working.
“The people of Lancaster County and the nation can feel secure that our systems work, that our election in Lancaster County is secure, and we will hold accountable those who threaten it with fraud or anything else,” said Josh Parsons, the Board of Elections chairman.

Back in 2020 when we went to vote in our very red town, some Karen in front of me got all pissy with the poll workers, saying “You guys better be sure to post my vote.”
Dipshit, you’re in a town that reliably votes 80% GOP. They vote for MTG, for fucks’ sake. There’s a very high chance that the people running the polling station are voting for exactly who you’re voting for.
I rolled my eyes at her, but she was too busy being outraged to notice. I live surrounded by idiots.

I pray for safety for everyone that is participating with integrity IRT to this election, most especially for people I “know”, including you, when personal safety shouldn’t even be a concern for something like this. Again, thank you.

I am a precinct deputy. I have zero tolerance for crap and bullshit from voters, poll watchers or anyone else. My staff at the precinct know this (I worked with all of them for the primaries) and that I will dial 911 if anyone threatens, harasses or annoys them for any reason. I will shut down a precinct if needed, until a threat is nullified.
BTW, our voting location is a block from the police department. No police officers in the county have Election Day off, unless they have an emergency.

There is no logical reason for there to be an issue but, like happyhoix points out in post #7 for her area, these deep red towns have some really ignorant people.

We just went to vote, first day of early voting. There were probably a dozen+ people manning tablets checking you in and printing customized ballots (because early voting is centralized in a few locations). Zip zap and we were quickly feeding our ballots into one of three machines, with another 8 or so workers watching and collecting pens / offering stickers. In and out in under ten minutes, no line but a steady flow following us in and out. My machine said 512 votes, DS4's was in the 400s, DH didn't notice but I assume similar. Not bad for the first day in a rural county, at just one site out of maybe 6-8 for the entire county - early voting is still a novelty here.

Glad to read this: ‘Fully staffed’: Election offices relieved after feared poll-worker shortages don’t materializeThreats and smears against election officials and the voting process haven’t killed Americans’ confidence in the system and willingness to work the polls this year.
Election administrators across the country, including the top seven battleground states and big cities like Los Angeles and Minneapolis, are breathing a sigh of relief after the feared shortages of poll workers haven’t materialized, according to interviews with more than 25 election officials.

We voted on the 17th. It was not lined up but it was steady. I'm in a county where there have been as few as 700-800 vote in past elections. The gal at the machine where I fed in my ballot told me I was 2737th vote & my DH was the one right behind me...2738th! But then Ga. set a new record on the first day of early voting & I'm pretty sure we are keeping the record going.
Thank you Bills & DJ too. Stay safe. If I were close, I'd loan ya'al my personal alert...one of those things that screams when the pin is pulled. One of those might scare off anyone trying to do another any harm.

A traditionally red state and in 2020, every official that had any power in elections was a Republican- the county recorder, the head of elections, Secretary of State, attorney general and the Governor, along with a bunch of others loyal, long time republicans that openly supported Trump. Why would they change a bunch of ballots to elect Joe Biden, Mark Kelly, Kris Mays (AG), and Katie Hobbs (gov)?? It makes no sense.

My husband is not a poll worker this year since we moved.
But I think I'm having anxiety attacks this week. I'm scared to death trump will get in. As hubs said calm down, will just have to see. But I am terrified. If we can make it through this as old as he is we won't have to deal with him again.
But I can't get over the fear, and losing my preps and all the food and supplies I had back is making me even more scared. I think its affecting me physically, wish it were not. I wish for myself being calm and for safety for all the poll workers, police, and everyone that may be threatened this time.

They said on the news tonight that some shop owners in DC were boarding up their windows because they are worried about riots after the election. I don’t remember them having to do that before. scary

You have mentioned quite a few times feeling anxiety because you gave up your food preps when you moved. Would it make you feel better if you had some emergency dehydrated food? Warehouse clubs like Sam's Club and Costco sell emergency food buckets on their websites for significantly cheaper that prepper sites do. I think you get get a 30 day supply for around $100, so if Trump wins the election and you feel anxious, you may want to spend a few hundred dollars and get a few buckets so that you don't miss the home canned stuff that you left behind. I belong to BJ's and they just sell it online, and not in the store, so you may need to do an online order, depending on which club you belong to.

My husband is a poll worker, and will work on Election Day. We live in a polite blue dot town in the middle of very angry red county/state. I am worried.

My friend said “If Harris wins, I’m going to get in shape. If Trump wins, I’m going to become an alcoholic.” It is good to know she has a plan.
I told her that if Harris wins, I will get in shape with her. But if Trump wins I’m going to become European. Although, the alcoholic part seems way more likely.

My husband wants to move to Canada if Trump wins.
I don’t know if we can manage that, but I can manage a news blackout. Stick to non news channels and streaming true crime and cozy murder shows for the next four years.
Especially if Trump lets Musk run amok in a special government gutting agency, and the two of them plunge the country into economic chaos.

Portugal is currently the easiest country to emigrate to. Djadvocate is ahead of the curve.

Because my mother was a German citizen when I was born, me and my sons can apply for German citizenship. DS2 has already submitted his application. He is very serious about it. I am still on the fence about applying. I have until 2030 to decide. My other two sons don't seem interested. We let my nephews know about this as well. My late sister had two sons and they are also eligible.
