I was in the car over 6 hours yesterday and came home just beat.
The pluses are I managed to get my hair cut. I had lunch at a clean and not too expensive casual place. Yummy soft taco and really done tater tots. Had a meeting with my Investment Guy and managed to get back home before 5:30 pm.
The damn bad sensor started going off again this morning and I had to take the battery out of the thing. Luckily it was closer to 7AM this time.
Waiting for my Pest control person to show up.
Today -
Laundry Clean Kitchen Clean the DR table and put things away. Hardware store for rock salt and a new CO2 detector

didn't do anything but make messes yesterday that I didn't clean up ![:-[](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png) . It was way too hot, but I was waiting for the evening cool. which didn't happen soon enough...Today, I'm running the aircon even though not as hot as yesterday. Yesterday the house still had residual cool for most of the morning, but woke up a bit sweaty and just flipped on aircon.

Contractor has cleaned up the water in the basement. Found a crack in the foundation and has sealed it.
Has done some things but others can't be done until it dries out. Neighbor wanted the pop up drain in the back extended 10 feet, so I think they are digging through mud to do that.
Going to need more dirt and grass seed.

It has been a chaotic week but I am going out of town tomorrow so I also had to get Lincoln’s shots updated so he can be boarded because I START MY NEW JOB TOMORROW!
It is a position I’m very excited about (director level), both local and remote and with a lot of benefits I didn’t have before. I’ll spend 2 days getting set up and beginning training and then be back home to work.

startsmart -- Congrats on the new job. Retreat as usual was fun. Always great to see my friends from past retreats. I have been doing these retreats for almost 10 years. I have learned so much throughout this process and my skill levels have soared from all of the lessons. It is one of the few fun activities that I spend money on and this one was no exception. Came home with three started projects, one additional kit and several new patterns to try later. Should have enough to keep me busy. Unloaded the cases and did two loads of laundry today. Will need to get to the grocery soon. I will try to do that in the morning weather permitting. I have been eating out of the freezer lately so I was able to postpone that grocery trip until tomorrow as I still have several items in the freezer left to consume. With the projections from the national hurricane center I will not be restocking the freezer this summer. I will only purchase what I think I can consume within a few weeks. I also need to contact a few service providers and get estimates for upcoming projects. Goals for upcoming week: *Grocery *Call Jeff for estimate *Project from April -- this one is almost done *Project 1 from Retreat *Project 2 from Retreat *Project 3 from Retreat *Call for estimate -- shower project *Pick up all the things hanging out on the flat services *Call about the meeting next week Almost time for bed. Will check in soon.

A friend of mine was helping her extended family go through an elderly relative's to clear out the house for sale. The elderly relative has gone to a nursing home.
It was a sad and depressing day for my friend to see years' worth of accumulation in the relative's gorgeous home being reduced to donate/trash/rehome piles. For my friend, it also drove home how we all need to do our best to go through a lot of our stuff and not leave it for our heirs to deal with. Words we should all live by.

I am going to call and have someone clean out the dreaded basement room where I have boxes I have not opened in 15 years. I obviously do not need to have those boxes since they have been in the basement, unopened for 15 years.
I don't have the headspace to deal with it until after this cancers stuff is in the rearview mirror, but I can get it arranged.

moneysquirrel glad you had fun! I agree with your friend, seriousthistime. It's something I used to tell my mom, and now that she is retired, that is how she spends her free time. That is not how I would like to spend my retirement, so it's even more motivation for me. Good for you, TheOtherMe, to finally address those boxes. Back atcha snapdragon. I left the house before L got there this morning. She texted saying she likes my new chair and asked if it was my "thought calming" room.

Moneysquirrel, what type of projects do you do? I make jewelry -- beaded jewelry using very little beads. The classes gives me new techniques and tricks to incorporate into my designs plus gives me some new things to wear. Classes are taught by national/international artists who share their knowledge with us. Most of these projects take several days to complete if I worked for hours each day -- I don't so it takes me longer. I also try to do some shorter projects between these detailed ones. Some of my early items were much easier to do and I sometimes revert back to one of them. But lately I have been doing the more complex designs. Managed to get the grocery errand done today. Also filled the car with gas, picked up a few other items on my list including sunscreen (I was almost out.) and met a friend for lunch. I also made some progress on the flat areas. Several items were moved back into their homes, a few to the shred pile and a few items are still hanging around. Tomorrow I should be home most of the day so should be able to make progress on that to-do list.

Small steps. I cleaned out the box of odds and ends I used for golf and tennis. Some were just moved to the bag used for that sport. IDK what I was looking for but I did clear out some old resumes and shredded them. Instead of cleaning the entire house, I work on a section or task. A little bit everyday.

Friend gave me 20 dolls, 12 are Madam Alexander. I had mentioned to her that I wanted a Madam Alexander doll so much when I was a child. A neighbor gird had maybe 10 but they were too expensive for my parents. I saw them at Marshall Fields Christmas toy floor in Chicago. I’m giving the Madam Alexander dolls to my little DGD. Gave her the Snow White doll last week
Well I’m listing the other dolls on eBay. I did well with vinyl records my son left here. I sold 2 of the dolls already. One was a Sasha doll. Looks rather ugly to me but some ladies are collectors. They post photos of the dolls in scenarios with stories. Some have maybe 6 Sasha dolls. Anyway I sold one for $170 and have one more. I also sold a pretty ‘rag’ doll for $15

Took the trash out early this morning and managed to also get paperwork shredded and that went in the bin too.
I was up around 4 something and could not go back to sleep. I need groceries and still have to go to the hardware store.

jerseygirl I am so glad that you are selling these dolls so they go to people who will love them (like the records)! I finally ordered a mattress! Now I can delete the others from my Amazon basket LOL. So we paid 258E/$281 for a new double bed for the guest room. I'm very happy with that! It has been FABULOUS having this quiet week!

I have done a little "feel good" decluttering. I am in a total slump after that effort resulting from having the new floors put in. However, last night on FB I saw someone who asked if anyone had foreign coins they wanted to get rid of for her little girl who had started a collection. Well, as you can imagine I have coins all over the place so I responded with sure but it will take me a bit to get them together. Turns out I found enough to fill a snack-size baggy last night. The family is in the area just for a month and leaving Sunday. About 15 minutes ago mom came to pick these coins up brought her kids with her. They went to the cutest little girls. I know I have more but time ran out - and the amount of stuff out the door is like a speck of dust but still an absolute!y worthwhile, feel good, declutter

NastyWoman I'll NEVER forget those three quarters you sent to DS3 so he could finish his collection of state quarters. Yesterday day we got a HUGE bill we were not expecting. Amazingly, I got a windfall today! My ex got a traditional fondue set from his favorite cousin, nearly 40 years ago. Part of it no longer works, so sometimes it sets itself on fire LOL. I used part of my unexpected windfall to replace it. It's been in my Amazon basket for YEARS. I know this will sound silly but I have the "secret recipe" for the best cheese fondue ever from the place I used to go to in the Alps with my ex MANY moons ago, which has won a TON of prizes for their cheese fondue. They never share the recipe, but I was the clueless American so they shared it with me. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my very old-fashioned traditional fondue set. All this to say ... I just spent $150 on a new traditional fondue set. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/yikes.png) The old one lasted nearly 40 years ... if this one does too, I won't ever need to replace it LOL. I told DH, this will probably be the one thing the kids fight over when I go LOL. PS I'm happy to share the recipe with anyone who wants it!

Share...please share the recipe! BTW I had more or less forgotten about those quarters. It was such a little thing to make a child happy and that is something I like to do. And I got a friendship with you out of it as well, so I believe I got the better deal

Aww NastyWoman ! We will never forget your kindness! Here is the recipe for 6-8 ppl: - Rub the pot with a half-clove of garlic - Chop the other half-clove VERY fine and put in the pot Add= - 330g Emmenthal (Gruyere) - 330g Conté - 330g Beaufort OR Appenzel Cover with (cheap dry) white wine and warm slowly until it melts, stirring all the time. Then transfer it to the fondue. You need to use good cheese. I used cheap industrial Emmenthal once and it NEVER MELTED. Serve with white wine because you don't want to mix white and red. PS The bread should be dry/stale so ideally, buy it the night before/the morning of and cut it up so it dries out before you serve it. PPS Serve with a side salad and charcuterie, and sorbet or ice cream for dessert.

Thank you for the recipe, this looks delicious. And, because that is the way my admittedly somewhat weird brain works, I immediately thought of Asterix and Obelix in Helvatia. "Into the lake" My grandbabies really are into A and O right now. I have a stack of Dutch language ones, and stack of the English ones. The kids also have some in German. They have not touched the Dutch ones yet but I bet within the next few years DGS1 will do so...

We have a collection in the basement! DS1 has packed them up to take them to his new house (but I'm sure he'll send them to his siblings if they want them) LOL

Mom collected all of the state quarters. I think there were also Presidential dollars or something. I pretty much know where those are and it's not here.
