I finally FINALLY dropped off a donation that’s been in my car since April. It wasn’t worth driving an hour to the donation center but it was an easy stop on my way back from training.
It feels net zero because I came back with a new laptop, phone and stack of paperwork but the new job is really good so far!

I got my washing machine back today, it was an incredibly simple fix. I'm thrilled to death that I didn't need to buy a new machine. Right now load 4 is in the washing machine and load 5 is on deck. While I've been rotating laundry I also got the bathrooms cleaned.
Since the repairman was coming I wanted to move the table out of the laundry room to give him room to maneuver. That meant clearing the table off so I finally put some thing away and threw away a couple other things. I'm getting close to another small donation. I've found it makes me feel good to get even a small amount out of the house and gone.

Woke up early and plan on heading out to do some weeding in about 20 minutes. Hope to get a good portion done before heading in and changing for the coffee meetup today. Several ladies will be swinging by the house so we can all walk over together. I went to Costco yesterday and swung by a UPS store for a new passport photo. So I will be finishing and sending that off today.

OOH YUM! Now I want cheese fondue.
I used to have a similar recipe. As I recall, it was sprinkled with nutmeg before serving. Good cheese is key to any good fondue recipe.
Thank you for the recipe!

I'm not sure whether I should hang my head in shame or just unabashedly celebrate. To set the stage: I moved into this place over 20 years ago. At that time I was working 55 - 60 hour weeks (did that for many years) so I had neither the time nor the energy to sort through things. I knew at the time that there were tax documents that were either past or very close to the 10 year keeping period and needed to be shredded. You get exactly one guess what I did this morning - I shredded THIRTY years old tax returns. LOL. So shame or celebration? Whatever, they are gone now.

Nasty woman wow but good for you!
Since I’ve been reading this, it’s really been an encouragement for even little steps. Not being discouraged and doing what I can. I’m actually enjoying listing and selling somethings on eBay, donating casual clothes, extra kitchen things and books to goodwill. Goodwill donations limited by amount I can carry ! Now thinking about another big group of nice clothes to Dress for Success Less anger at jerseyguy not wanting to get rid of his ‘stuff’ in basement

As part of my workday I moved all my personal papers to the dining table to sort and for my desk set up with the new laptop and phone. I feel as if I’ve gotten a lot done and have a meeting Tuesday to work with the board (I’m the new local director of a charity here in town) and get things rolling.
Also next week I get to teach 15-20 high school students how to create a marketing plan and implement it!

Because I am an anal accountant, I have every tax return I have filed. I was 16 when I filed the first one. I have shredded the back up documents, but I have the actual returns. I know I don't need them, but what if I do need them? I worked there. I know those old, old returns are not on a computer. I don't know if they are boxed up and going to be digitized or what. But I have all of mine. I am able to get Civil War pension records that have been digitzied so some things do seem to be kept forever.

Stick a fork in me. I am beat.
Did 2 hours of weeding btwn 6:30 and 8:30 AM.
Had the coffee meetup but was the 1st person to leave. Went to the post office and finished my passport renewal.
Came home and mowed the lawn
Sprayed vinegar salt, soap mix on weeds - I looked into the local pest people spraying but am holding off due to me having to order more gravel. Next year is a possible contender for sure.
Used the weedwacker on part of the back yard. I need to give my hands a rest. They are rather sore.
Shower was taken along with washing my work clothes so they are fresh for later this weekend.
I sweated so much! But I was active and motivated.
Tomorrow is a parade in town square so I plan on going to that in the morning.

Inspired by snapdragon I weeded today. OMG I hate that task LOL. The roses are looking better though! I hope we'll do more tomorrow, in the back. It's been a VERY quiet weekend except for Sat morning rehearsal (10.30-1.30 most Saturdays). I still suck but I'm getting better. Only 11.5h of work this week, but they're spread over four days. I don't usually teach Thursdays but I'm trying to do as many hours as I can before summer. (Any professor hours I don't do by the end of Aug are lost, and most profs stop after the 14 July holiday. We get a new allocation of hours in late Sept/early Oct.)

The parade was fun for the most part but very herky-jerky on the spacing. There was a amazing pirate boat parade float and they were actually blasting confetti with a air cannon! Lots of candy was thrown and I managed to get a 1/2 price discount card for our local arcade. I'm hoping to use it for their mini-golf course.

I didn't realize it, but I got some red on me from yesterday at the parade. Only found out when getting ready to sleep. Aloe Vera and some body creme helped. Still pinkish though.
Yesterday I managed to get rid of bad bug eggs in my rosemary and lavender. I also managed to chop some low hanging branches too.
Today -
Finish weedwacking the backyard.
Cut up branches and get them ready for disposal next Saturday
Get into the water and pull up some more reeds so they dry out for next Saturday.
Spread some rock salt in areas where I have stubborn weeds coming up. It's aggressive and spraying got part of it but stuff is just hardy. I also need to sprinkle it on the driveway and sides of the house.
It's supposed to get windy so I need to have this done about 2 - fairly doable I think.

I have a tree next to my deck that has grown so wide that some of the branches were rubbing against the enclosure for my retractable awning. The sound kept me up last night. Today I got up on a ladder and trimmed back the lowest hanging branches there. It is still making sounds when the wind blows, so I'll have to call someone. And it will be a full service bush trimming, weeding, mulching, and some planting.
I got a table for my front hall. I bought it at the resale shop (which has quality furniture at reasonable prices), then added a vase of silk dogwood branches, a seagrass basket, and a small lamp. I had the lamp and vase, got the branches for $3 on clearance at JoAnn Fabric, and the basket at the same resale store. I'm pleased.
I also got a large mirror for the wall above my couch. I need help hanging it. It's too heavy for me to do alone.
The shitepile is building. I'm trying to ignore it.

This past weekend was a busy one. I weeded and did yard work Saturday morning, until it got too hot, then worked in the house Saturday afternoon. I have another small donation almost ready to go to goodwill and did give two casseroles to the neighbors for their daughters who just moved out.
Sunday morning I worked on my floors which were horrid. I didn't get them all done but did get started. DD and family came over in the afternoon and we got the pool opened up. Now to get the chemicals balanced out and we should be good to go for the summer. The guy who will be installing the tile in my bathroom stopped by today to measure. On Saturday I had gone back to the tile store and checked out the samples of what I wanted and was glad I did. That way he could see exactly what we wanted and could talk about it and how it would best be installed.

Everyone's weeding posts reminds me of a meme I saw yesterday. I am unable to find it now, but basically it depicted these words with a graph: What Gives People Feelings of Power (in ascending order): Money, Status, Pulling Weeds and Getting all the Roots. Good job with the tax documents, NastyWoman. I keep supporting documents for 7 years and keep all copies of the actual return in my computer. Nice going jerseygirl! seriousthistime your hallway table arrangement sounds lovely. I am also a fan of resale and vintage shops. Last Wednesday L did her usual excellent job, and in my reading fort, I appreciated the fact she stacked my small decluttering projects on a side table to get them off the floor. However, in the kitchen, I raised an eyebrow at the fact she refolded the contents of the kitchen towel drawer. DH said she has too much time on her hands.... We went camping over the weekend and I added a few items to the ongoing list of things I need to remember next time. We returned mid-afternoon yesterday, so I was able to get in a few loads of laundry. This evening I'll finish that, and do my supper and fresh produce prep.

DH weeded a lot yesterday. Does that count?! I WFH all day today, ran and emptied the dishwasher, and caught up on laundry. Today DH helped a friend from theater who has a big workshop and who makes our sets (with a lot of help from DH). I encouraged DH to bring our parasol stand to D. Our parasol has been The Leaning Parasol of Paris for months, and it was getting worse. $7 and D's tools & expertise later, the stand is fixed! It cost $72 two years ago, so I'm very happy we don't have to replace it! In less good news, the mattress we bought went on sale ... IMMEDIATELY after it shipped. You win some, you lose some LOL. ETA: Iggy aka IG I have a very specific way of folding dishtowels, and that would have driven me crazy! L only comes once or twice a month now, right? So I'm sure there's plenty for her to do besides refold your dishtowels (although I DO get that it's not easy to address that!)

The new mattress arrives tomorrow. We probably won't open it until DS1's mattress leaves on 3 July. It's foam, so it needs 48-72h to inflate.
We will have paid 258e/$278 for a full-sized bed frame and a good mattress! I'm very happy with that!
We also need a new mattress protector, I just ordered one on sale from Amazon.

Contractor has been here all day. I hope what he is doing will help with drainage. I also hope it will make my nosy neighbor who has no business being involved shut his mouth.

Live and learn. In my paper work reduction I found a stack of old passports. I got rid of mine and xH's but asked DS2 if he wanted his with the cute little baby (3 months old) on it and those when he was an elementary school kid. He truly wanted them. Talking to DS1 I asked him whether he wanted his (it had almost gone into the shredder already) fully expecting him, a minimalist, to say no*. Well, my both my "kids" turn out to have a bit of a nostalgia in them. The passports are in plastic baggies and will be rehomed come Xmas time. *I really should have considered this possibility. After all he is the kid who went on a school trip to Tasmania. After that trip they got a book "Dangerous Shores" about the history of Tasmania as a prison island to read for social science. He tossed that book twice, once when we left Singapore and again after he graduated college, and I pulled it out of recycling both times. Today that book proudly sits on his bookshelves in Singapore since he decided it was his book and he was keeping it forever. Great ammunition for me when I want to give him sh*t.

NastyWoman I've kept all my kids' passports too. They don't take up much room. I'm glad you kept them. Also, my DS2 once tossed a childhood book and later was SO UPSET I tried to buy it again ... it was out of print, so I bought it from a second-hand site. I'm guessing your kids, like mine, don't keep much.

debthaven exactly! Yes, she now comes once a month. I think she also has been "helping" with the puzzle I started last month. I told DH compared to her other clients (several different neighbors, who have kids and furry kids) we must be a breeze. I've never liked visible clutter, and the number of knickknacks I do have were reduced by about 30% via decluttering these past 6 months.

It's hard Iggy aka IG because I know that L is a neighbor and a friend ... Maybe you need to make her a list? There is absolutely no reason for her to be "helping" you with your puzzle, on your dime ... If she's coming once/month instead of once/week, she should have MORE to do, not less ...

TheOtherMe is this the same neighbor who thought your contractor should stop working on your house so he could work on his house instead? Yes and he has threatened to sue him because the neighbor in between us is still getting drainage from my yard. It's better than it was before. He got his phone number off his truck. He has been a total pain to the Contractor. This has nothing to do with him. The neighbor in between us does get some runoff. It has since the day the house was built. She is a renter, not an owner. He has lied and told the contractor she bought it but that is not what the county records say. My former neighbor has a lot of rental properties and I don't think he is interested in selling to her. He was not interested in selling when he moved to town.

I am sure DN1 will be keeping the passport of J when he was a few days old. They took the photo themselves with some app. They couldn't leave for Toronto until they got the passport and everything was slow because of Covid. They didn't even wait to leave for the original birth certificate to get to them. It got forwarded to me and I mailed it to them.
They were paying rent in Toronto and a house payment here. They couldn't put their house on the market until the passport arrived.
They got the email notification and had to arrange for movers, a realtor and pack in about 5 days. Of course, the furniture didn't arrive for a while after that. At that time, it was held at the border until it was "safe" from Covid. Then DN1 had to go to the border while it went through Customs.
Moving is always a nightmare and this had to have been their worst nightmare.
At least they used movers that were being directly charged to the University of Toronto.

I had an entire set of Bobbsey Twin books. Mom wanted them gone. I was in junior high and said fine. She donated them to the school. I'm sure they have been tossed by now.
By college, I was wishing I could have just one of the books. I've never bought one though.

I'm sorry you're involved with this TheOtherMe . Our pipes run through our two neighbors' gardens too. Everything is always fine between us, until it isn't. It was originally one lot. It was divided into three lots in the early 1980s when the original seller couldn't sell the whole lot. It's obviously not ideal, but it's fairly typical here since the original huge lots were subdivided. For years, the middle neighbor (who has the main house and the majority of the land) decided that he wouldn't dig up HIS garden to find the problem, we would dig up our garden instead. We did it for years. Later we had to tear up our garden and redo our pipes because of the foundation issues, so we created an easily accessible lookout. One year neighbor couldn't find the problem. He decided we needed to dig up the rest of our garden, and the third neighbor should dig up theirs too, and we all should split the cost equally. We refused. We said um, BTDT. WE have a lookout ... but YOU still don't. The neighbor was NOT happy, but he DID eventually create his own lookout. Life has been much more peaceful since then. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/smug.gif)

TOM I loved the Bobsey twin books. The books showed me more of the world than my little area. I also loved Anne of Avonlea ,Rose in Bloom , Secret Garden and Treasure Island among others I still have them except the Bobsey twin books. Maybe mom discarded them when we moved when I was 10 yr. or when she became a librarian when I was 12. Mom thought these were ‘junk’ books

I am really relieved! My neighbor J came over today and helped put up the skylight shades that I made. It was a process but only took about a half hour. The ladder is already back in the garage. Vacuuming is on the list for tomorrow as the chairs arrive Wednesday. I am really excited to have nice comfortable recliners for TV watching. The couch will be turned so I can watch the water while sitting down.
Tomorrow I need to go the FD and get a permit so I can burn outdoors. No matter when you get one, they expire Dec 31. Not bad for $30.
