I loathe Fox "News" just as much as the average thinking American, but I could see that email being read as a "request for comment" rather than a direct attempt to influence.
I mean it definitely reads as a veiled threat, but Fox "News" is so unhinged that doesn't shock me.

Far too close for comfort IMO. Only the nutwings in that party don't fold, the rest of them ultimately will under tbe guise of "for the good of the country" aka as long as we stay in power we can screw the majority of the voters over.

Jeffries got the most votes, right? yes. 212 to 200. My Rep Elise Stefanik is doing a smash up job of pimping herself out for Jordan. When she was first elected she was a moderate republican and was tolerable. She has since morphed into a MAGA loony.

You would think that someone that is nominated for speaker of the House would have a history of getting bills passed. Jordan does not "Fit the Bill" he does not look qualified "on paper" so why him? Who is it that really has the qualifications to be speaker? I understand that Jordan is in Trump's pocket...just curious besides the interim speaker, who else is there?

there are several candidates out there that are acceptable to both parties, and to be perfectly blunt, this is the perfect time for such a candidate. it would be a way forward for the GOP.
so, they probably won't do it.

Jim Jordan wants to be speaker but hasn't even mastered the basicsDespite having spent 16 years in Congress, the Ohio Republican has never passed a law, and he has a shaky record, at best, on oversight. The House held just one vote for speaker on Tuesday afternoon, and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, lost handily. Twenty Republicans voted against him, a really big hurdle to overcome when you consider that there’s word that he may lose another five or six Republicans’ support on the second ballot. For someone trying to win a job that mostly revolves around keeping track of votes, that doesn’t bode well for him. It’s also not great when there’s already worry a Speaker Jordan might not be a help raising funds to support House candidates. Neither development is particularly surprising when one considers that Jordan isn’t particularly good at the basics of being a lawmaker, let alone at the more complicated skills it takes to become speaker. There are three main jobs members of Congress have: writing and passing laws, providing a check and balance on the other branches, and serving their constituents. Jordan, amazingly, is bad at all three. Legislating is the most obvious job a representative has, but since being sworn into the House in 2006, Jordan has been famously lacking on that front. As The Washington Post’s Aaron Blake pointed out Monday, Jordan has had precisely zero bills signed into law, or even passed in the House, with most getting absolutely no traction. That’s pretty abysmal when you consider that two of those years of his legislative invisibility came when there was a GOP trifecta in Washington. He did nothing to advance his agenda through the law despite his cachet with former President Donald Trump. The 36 bills that Jordan has introduced in 16 years haven’t exactly been winners, either. Only three were agreed to by the House. And while the number of bills that become law has dwindled in general, Jordan has never seemed particularly dedicated to taking part in the process. Jordan pays a lot of lip service to government oversight, but his record is decidedly poor, especially when a Republican is in office. Many of his early years in the House were spent riding the wave of tea party anger at former President Barack Obama and blaming him for out-of-control spending (even though it’s Congress that appropriates money) and demanding strict oversight of the executive branch. He spent most of his time in Congress on the House Oversight Committee, where he made a name for himself with his aggressive questioning of Obama administration officials. Rest of article here: Jim Jordan wants to be speaker but hasn't even mastered the basics

Did he lose a vote - as in 199 today vs 200 yesterday? What are we rooting for here? 20 GOPers voted against him yesterday, 22 voted against him today. The wife of one of the GOP members who voted against him on the first vote got a message from someone claiming her husband’s political career would be over if he didn’t vote for Jordan. He also said her husband was a coward, to which she replied the message writer was a bigger coward for sending anonymous threatening notes. What are we rooting for? Trump backed Jordan, and Jordan looks like he can’t win. Looks like the House might have to pick someone who isn’t a Trump favorite. Maybe it’s the start of the end of the Trump reign of terror.

BREAKING: Jordan is bowing out of speaker race until Jan, and backing the pro-tem speaker. What is the advantage of a temporary speaker? Is this just to get a warm body to fill the chair while we’re in this global shit blizzard of events right now? Go back to the GOP infighting in January?

I see the advantage being that the infighting can be done over the next couple of months less publicly with a goal of a clean vote come January.

Jordan changed his mind. He’s still running for speaker and will talk with some of the people opposing him tonight to convince them to vote for him so Republicans can get back to business. Possibly a vote tomorrow. Saw him on CNN.

At one point he apparently shouted at the GOP closed door meeting about the speaker position ‘America wants me to have this job.’ If I were a GOP member of the House, that would absolutely turn me off.

Only MAGAs want him to have the job. The majority of Americans do not. No job for Jordan until he is thoroughly investigated for what he knew about the Ohio State athletes and what Jordan knew about the sexual abuse inflicted on them.

CNN earlier today aired a recording and transcript the wife of a Republican House member received phone calls threatening her and her husband. I don't remember which House member it was. Pretty disgusting call and rather lengthy too. Full of 'f' words and threats of following her when she leaves their home. Telling her her husband better vote for Jordan ...or else. These call threats are pissing off a number of Republican House members.
