Wagner is in Rostov, a dozen hours away from Moscow.

Russia’s FSB opens criminal case against Wagner boss, accuses him of calling for ‘armed rebellion’Russian warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin has claimed he is moving against Russia’s military leadership and that his fighters have entered the country’s Rostov region ready to “destroy everything” in their way – in a stunning series of developments that pits Moscow’s security establishment against a militia leader whose forces have played a pivotal role in the invasion of Ukraine. Prigozhin, who is the chief of private military group Wagner, made the claims in a series of Telegram messages on Friday in which he accused Russian forces of striking a Wagner military camp and killing a “a huge amount” of his fighters. Russia’s Ministry of Defense denied Prigozhin’s claims, calling it an “informational provocation”. The Federal Security Service (FSB), Russia’s domestic intelligence service, has responded by urging Wagner fighters to detain their leader and on Friday it opened a criminal case against the Prigozhin. The mercenary, who has frequently criticized Russia’s traditional military hierarchy, warned in his messages that retribution would be meted out for the alleged attack on his fighters. “We will deal with those who destroy Russian soldiers and return to the front, justice for the troops will be restored, and then justice for all of Russia,” he said. This is one thing Putin can't blame on the West
Putin was so desperate for fighters that he brought in mercenaries, (they were emptying prisons and all sorts)
Other Warlords he has employed are watching this dissent and taking note.
The Wagner group is no threat to the Russian military, or Putin...... but there is disquiet in the Kremlin........ and that's where the real threat lies.
This land grab, which was supposed to take a couple of months, is not what he had promised.

I find it so weird the world still has mercenaries. We are not nearly as civilized as I was naive enough to believe in my youth.

Yeah the head of the Wagner group is very pointedly not talking trash about Putin, just about the Russian military head, complaining about poor planning, lack of support, lack of munitions. And Wagner took over that Russian city on the Ukraine border without any fire fight from the locals, which seems to indicate they’re pro - Ukraine (or they just don’t care). Not necessarily a good development for Ukraine - seems like Wagner leader wants a better military guy (like himself) leading the war against Ukraine.

He is quite a good killer.... but not a statesman who could lead Russia in any way. In fact if Putin does go, those in the running for president are likely to carry on where he left off. Looks like Wagner group are marching on Moscow, in an armed coup d'é·tat They are being fired upon,... so probably wont get anywhere near the Kremlin as they are heavily outnumbered Looks at the moment like the leader will be eliminated. Unless.... this thing grows legs and we could be looking at a civil war. who knows

I’m thinking Wagner wouldn’t be doing this if they didn’t have some allies that are going to pop up along the way……
This is, so unexpected….

Wonder why an individual mercenary would be going on this march on Moscow? Suicidal missions for country are one thing. But this, I don't know?

He must have been told something motivating by the Wagner head. I suspect Rukh is right - there is some agreement between Wagner on the military side and some Russian political coalition. Maybe not necessarily to unseat Putin but to seize power and keep Putin as a token figurehead so they can insist it’s not a coup.

Yes I thought that, and the way Wagner group have only criticised the military...... and not Putin.
Is this some sort of theatre?
Thinking their leaders are under attack would galvanise the people. and Moscow are going in to curfew.
Don't know tbh....... its changing by the minute.

He has got a place near lake Valdai (halfway between Moscow and ST Petersburg)
with a bunker.
Wagner group are at least a 1000 km away so they aren't near yet.

So we won't be reading anytime soon President Putin accidentally fell out of a highrise hotel window and to his death.

CBS News this AM said that the head of Wagner (can’t spell his name) was furious because Russia launched a rocket attack against his troops, killing a bunch of them. Russia claims they didn’t do that, but why would they admit to it.
So this may not have been a well planned out coup attempt, this may have been a temper tantrum.
Either way, I think the Wagner guy is screwed, unless Putin gets taken out first. I’m sure Belarus has plenty of tall hotels with windows far enough off the ground that a fall from one will be fatal.
Putin looks very weak because of this. Further proof his invasion of Ukraine was a giant mistake.
