I haven't seen any threads on this yet, and since it's marketing related, I thought I'd stick it here.
First, let me say that I can count the number of Bud Lights I have drank in my lifetime on two fingers...can't stand it. Anyway, I was behind a large "boy" at the gas station the other day who had a case of Miller Lite. As the cashier was giving a hard time about not drinking Bud, he made a profound point, "who do they think was drinking their beer? Mostly us rednecks, what a dumb marketing move"
So, what say you? Is the "all inclusive" beer drinking public a greater market than the "redneck" good ole boys? Will Bud Light survive? Does anyone care?

I have to sit back and laugh at these delicate snowflakes that are so disturbed by a rainbow. I saw a meme about this thing, had a pic of Kid Rock on it. the caption was "if Sudafed put a rainbow on their boxes, we could get all of Kid Rock's fans off meth!"

The beer vendors at Camden Yards said they sold out of Bud Light the day of the home opener.
I guess time will tell if it was a smart marketing move or not. I wonder about the percentage of beer sales in restaurants, etc where your choices will be somewhat limited versus bought for home consumption at a store where you'll have more choices.
For myself there's one product I know to be bottled by Anheiser that I can drink. The rest of it including their seltzer, I break out in hives. I really wish I knew what it was about their processing that doesn't play nice with my body. That would be useful information to have to better protect myself.

Stupid move. There are alot of bigoted rednecks down here in the south that drink bud. I mean they drink alot of beer. Then you get the country singers boycotts. Will it seriously hurt them I doubt it. They could have supported the lgbtq with a better marketing program. I don't think for 1 minute the gal that said she was in charge of the decision was it she is the fall person. They don't do stuff like this without it going across several desks for approval.

It's actually genius marketing when you think about it. The snowflakes are primarily boomers and gen x. Gen z is getting old enough to buy alcohol. They are inclusive and accepting for the most part. They are catering to the younger demographic. I expect to see them do well with this.

They don't do stuff like this without it going across several desks for approval. it's not just down south, there's bigoted yahoos everywhere that need to get over themselves. for example, the NHL has this inclusivity thing - Hockey is for Everyone. it is intended to promote hockey for groups that historically haven't had access to it, be it women, para-athletes, minorities, whatever. the Bruins add a rainbow to the background of the spoked B and change their FB profile pic to the rainbow version when the league is promoting the program. the comments that simple change gets? you'd have thought someone shattered the Stanley Cup! seriously, it's a fucking rainbow.

I probably should have owned stock in bud light and Nike years ago. Both just did a collab with Dylan Mulvaney. I'll be buying more if that's possible. I'm a strong supporter of diversity and inclusion. I'm also not a bigoted POS like the people who are getting excited about it.

OMG! Can you imagine a 🌎 in which Bud Light is no longer available!

Ok, not profound, but maybe a supposition. What evidence supports this underlying assumption? Any data? Other than local proches and front yards littered with empty beer cans? Maybe the blasted liberals just do a better job recycling their beer cans?

Urban/rural is also playing a large roll I think, while not the majority, rural youth can be quite vocally bigoted as well as their elders. But most of the world is done with bigotry, So US GOP types are going to boycott bud light....what proportion of the world is that anyway?

I don't really care. DH is a Bud Light drinker. On our way to a birthday cookout Saturday he bought Miller Lite. I asked him about it, he said he has been seeing the commercials saying it had less calories so thought he would give it a try. Sunday he bought Bud Light.
Dylan Mulvaney is the reason people are boycotting:
It is not even about what is on the cans sold in stores. It is because they sponsored a trans, and made her a commemorative can as a gift to her. The cans are not for sale. The whole thing is ridiculous.

How about Lucky Charms? Anyone boycotting that product, or has GM stopped putting rainbow marshmallows in the box?

Instead, make up issues and faux outrage to deflect from the fact that you are ignoring the actual problems we do have.

I'm sure Bud Light will survive. I work for a market research company and we track buying habits/purchases/etc. Bud Light is the top beer in the country with almost 30% of households purchasing it in the last 12 months.
People will be pissed for 3-4 weeks and then go back to drinking it.
Bud Light is not selling around here - according to my DH who was in several beer-selling establishments over the past 2 weeks - but I'm sure people will go back to buying it.

If I had a nickel for every time I bumped into someone at Target that was "NEVER GOING TO SHOP THERE AGAIN".

I saw a guy dropping a bunch of the wrong beer at a walmart - people were laughing at him that he did not even know which beer he was supposed to boycott.
The police came and took him away.

I'd like a dollar for everyone who is still in line in front of me at Disney World when they were all going to boycott that woke company. Seems they forgot to stay home!

For years I was in an investment club with a group of very cool women. We had a large and diverse portfolio that included Nike. After the Colin Kaepernick take-a-knee incident, one VERY right-leaning person said we needed to sell Nike because no white person would ever buy their products or their stock again and they would go out of business. Nike closed today at $125.68/share.
And I remember the whole boycott-the-NFL thing associated with that. Best part of FB was seeing the self-righteously indignant "I won't be watching the Super Bowl" posts followed in a few short months by "I'm making wings and chili for the Super Bowl party at my house this weekend"

Anyway, I was behind a large "boy" at the gas station the other day who had a case of Miller Lite. As the cashier was giving a hard time about not drinking Bud, he made a profound point, "who do they think was drinking their beer? Mostly us rednecks, what a dumb marketing move"

"who do they think was drinking their beer? Mostly us rednecks, what a dumb marketing move" I know a lot of rednecks that couldn't care less if there were rainbows on the can though. I mean, my neighbor is pretty much Larry the Cable Guy and his comment was, "Well...so as long as they don't go putting the Green Bay Packers on there...we're good".

Packer fans would be saying the same about Vikings and Bears.

I drank Lone Star beer last night since I'm in TX. I can't get it in KC, so why not.
