Yes, while they were at uni Weren’t they roommates before they started dating? They definitely lived together as a couple before they were married (after uni). I think the way the whole Diana/Camilla thing went down really loosened up some of the rules. Especially being only 2 generations removed from the whole Wallace Simpson thing. I think the firm realized they would have less compliance with each new crop of royals and they had to make some strategic compromises to retain power and relevance. They were having a divorce problem anyway - Margaret, Charles, Anne and Andrew are all divorced. The Queen’s grandchildren are still (on average) too young to determine how many will be divorced, but the oldest one already is - and who knows what Kate and William’s relationship truly is. The rest are either underage, unmarried or only a few years in. If the Royals don’t give themselves some latitude, they will implode. |
