Exercised and now I'm going to take a shower and go to the office. They have a big salad bar at the cafeteria. I have to load on the veggies. Yesterday I got fruit at the grocery store. Eat veggies as most meals and a piece of fruit for dessert.
It's so difficult for me, but my health and wellbeing are on the line.
Going to the office is also good for me. Spending too much time on my own makes me feel lonely, sad, and makes me overeat even more.

I like the way you set out your goals, ners. I would think it makes them easier to meet.

Down 0.6 lbs this week. Not as much as I'd like, but at least it's still going in the right direction. I had a few small glasses of wine this week, and took more recovery days off between running days. This is s much harder now that I'm old, but I figure it's now or never.
Have a great week all! I'll try to check back in more. Seems like my brain has been on vacation since I got done with my classes. 😵💫

Checking In. I hit one goal last week. Goal was 42K steps. Got 43.5K steps. And currently a very sore rear end from weeding yesterday. I missed eating more plant matter as sides. I tried to eat salads as main meals. I had to do something to balance eating a small custard shake. (See why I'm not tracking food?) Goal this week is 49K steps and eat more plant matter. It should be easier this week now that DS is back in school. I should also drink more water, probably.
I weighed myself today, and I'm at 243. We'll see what transpires over this week.

Check in Missed last week's check in. Debated if I should do today's check in. I will just say the last 2 weeks have not been good in regard to my goals. Here are this week's goals: 1. Water intake average of 35 ounces or more. 2. Steps 50,000. 3. In bed by 10:30. 4. No eating after 9:00 PM 01/01/19 177.2 01/01/20 165.2 01/01/21 169.0 01/01/22 167.2 01/01/23 172.2 02/01/23 173.6 03/01/23 173.8 04/01/23 177.2 Have a good week everyone. That's ok. I'm clawing back to try & shave off some weight. Only 1 pound better than last week. It's a process...

I got a call from my doctor Wednesday. Everything is good, except the sugar in blood. She expects Ozempic, along with a better diet and more exercise should take care of that Im not so sure, Im still overeating. Although Im exercising and drinking more water. Have not had any side effects from Ozempic, but she started me in the lowest dose.
I have so many doctor appointments it's not even funny. I have the gyno in June, eye doctor in a month, a follow up visit with my primary at the end of April, and also a visit to the colonoscopy clinic, so they can coach me for the procedure. I still need to set up a dermatologist visit. And the dentist, too.
And if the gyno finds out my emotional issues are not hormonal, then I have to go to a psychiatrist to sort that out, too.
I've been feeling better. I've noticed the more I go out, the better I feel. So I've decided to go to the office more days a week. There are more trains now, so I may try that instead of driving there Because the commute is bad. I feel maybe 3 days a week will be the sweet spot for me. And as I have so much flexibility now, I can work from home if I dont feel like going, or if I have a doctor's appointment, etc.
Tomorrow I'm going out for lunch with a Meetup group. The organizer is very nice, and she's retired but does odd jobs, like pet sitting, etc. So I'm going to ask her if she can take me to the eye doctor for my appointment. They do a study on your eyes that dilates them. I cannot drive afterwards, and I don't have anyone to take me there. I don't like to ask anyone to take time off work for me. Hope she says she can do it. I need someone to do that sort of thing for me. Same when I have the colonoscopy. I prefer to pay someone instead of asking friends for favors.

The win: my resting BP is now down to 60. Which given my weight, is pretty damn good. I did not get 49K steps. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be, going from 6-7K a day. That requires, effort. LOL. I was at 43, 737 steps for the week. So, no increase.
Did better with plant matter. Goal: rinse, lather, repeat.

I'm not even mentioning weight after hosting Easter dinner yesterday. But I will say that I always feel better after getting in a walk, especially if I go outside. There is still snow on the ground here, but my backyard is almost snow-free (the front of our house faces north, so it's always the last to melt). Spring is here, and that always puts me in a good mood, especially when the flowers begin to bloom.

You will probably find that you have no appetite and overeating will lead to nausea when you start Ozempic. My mom is on trulicity, which is also a shot, and she lost weight based on those two things alone. She just couldn't eat as much without feeling sick.

I second going outside definitely helps, especially after such a what I call, strong winter.
Made an Easter ham dinner with trimmings for several neighbor family guests. Holy sodium, Batman! Moderation for sure.

Easter candy. I can usually resist, but I saw black jelly beans at the grocery store, and I can't explain how it happened but two bags managed to come home with me. They are no longer here. How they managed to disappear is not something I'm willing to discuss in a Healthy Lifestyle discussion.

I hear you, seriousthistime. After I gave DH some Easter candy Sunday morning, he responded he didn't buy me anything. I told him it was okay, as I bought myself something.

I also went overboard on Easter. Up 1.2 as of Monday. A little bit of candy, carrot cake, and lots of ham have not been kind to me. Also, drinking a little several days this past week didn't help.
A weird thing happened today. I was 11 months into menopause, and now I gotta start over on that. (It's official at a year.)

There was a time I would've welcomed a surprise 3rd baby, but I could not imagine going back to that at this point. I was at the office when it started, and fortunately they now provide free supplies, which is good because I stopped carrying anything for it in my purse or backpack. I was ready to toss the stuff I had leftover in my house. One unopened package was donated to a women's shelter around Christmas.

I am on month 16 of no period. I need to make a doctor appointment, as I still do not trust it. The lead up was I got Covid 9/21, followed by a period every 2 weeks until 12/21, and nothing since then. I was in perimenopause, so it is likely over for me - I just have some doubts.

ETA: I think what triggered it was I gave my remaining supplies to a neighbor for her daughter. Murphy's Law! I should give her the restock I bought and see what happens, LOL.

This week was 53K steps. My body is so sore. Pretty much every inch of it. Of course, the scale goes the wrong way.

No weight loss these last two weeks. I starting journaling by hand (not tracking in MFP). Since I'm such an emotional eater, I'm hoping that will help me process through frustrations instead of just stuffing dessert-y carbs and chocolate in my face.

This week was 53K steps. My body is so sore. Pretty much every inch of it. Of course, the scale goes the wrong way. Like this because of the steps. Not so much the scale. I will say, the only reason the scale bothers me really is because chemo is dosed on weight. And I've already used up half my lifetime supply of breast cancer chemo. Of course, you don't find that out until after treatment is done.
I wish I could be one of those people that is like "ooh, I cut out soda, chips, and deserts and lost 25lbs."
I don't drink soda, and we rarely have chips in the house. We don't have a ton of deserts either. And frankly, the kids get most of it.
I won't try to go down to 1200 calories to lose weight. My mom had me do that when I was 17. Actually, I think we were likely eating 1K calories of food. So. Right now. It is what it is.

I'm trying to work my way back to where I was before Easter, but I managed to pull a muscle on the inside of my thigh, so I haven't gotten in as many steps as I would in a normal week. And, I'm paying the price for less activity. Hopefully this next week will be pain-free, and better...

My period was sort of like it was making up for the missed ones, so I didn't do much exercise this week. Down 1.6 lbs, though. 3 weeks to go to my 5k race, so I will be ramping back up. Hopefully, I'll be able to lose a few more pounds in the interim to make running a bit easier.
Have a great week everyone!

Hugs giramomma. Knee Deep in Water Chloe in the past I have found a handwritten journal has helped me through various times in my life. Currently, I keep one here at the office. busymom that sounds 'effing painful. Lizard Queen, last year mine made up for lost time, too. As I've said during this whole menopause ordeal, bodies are weird, LOL. I am going to the doc tomorrow for RX refill purposes. I wish I would've maintained last year's 32-pound loss, but I am excited to report to him my progress thus far. I'll check in here afterwards.

My sister was recently diagnosed as diabetic. So she's being extra mindful about what she eats, and is sending me lots of texts about what she can and can't have. It's interesting to me (and I'm happy to support her) but now every time I eat anything, I think, "i wonder if my sister could eat this" and now I'm back to looking at sugar content in all our food.
DH and I are pretty good about limiting added sugar and buying brands/products with lower sugar content anyway, but it's been awhile since I've really tracked this. I'm hoping that all the mindfulness will help DH and I do a better job of limiting sugary foods.

What I found most interesting when I had gestational diabetes (I know that it's different, but it still has to be controlled the same way) is that it is the carbs that you really have to watch as well. It's not just cutting out sweets, soda, candy, etc. I had to make sure to eat more protein and pair any carb with a protein. So I'd have chicken/rice, steak/baked potato, cheese/pepperoni/crackers. Fruit was paired with a protein as well. I didn't eat cereal, pastries, pasta, pizza, etc. I didn't really snack, except for something before bed. I had to test in the morning before I ate and then 1 and 2 hours post-breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So, eating in between would have messed up my numbers.
I was lucky to be able to control it with my diet. I only had one high reading, and it is when I indulged at my baby shower, including having pasta salad and a giant cupcake. I warned my OB/GYN that it was going to happen. I had to track my readings and send to him every week to make sure I didn't need to be put on medication.
Good luck to your sister on managing it!
