Judge orders unsealing of Santos’s bond sponsor names ThursdayA federal judge on Tuesday denied Rep. George Santos’s (R-N.Y.) latest attempt to keep sealed the identities of the people who financially backed his criminal bond. U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert, an appointee of former President Clinton, ordered the names be unsealed at noon EDT Thursday, giving the bond sureties a window to withdraw beforehand. coalition of media organizations pushed to make the filings public, but Joe Murray, Santos’s attorney, previously indicated the embattled congressman would rather be detained ahead of trial than allow their identities to be unsealed. Murray has repeatedly cited a “media frenzy” in attempting to keep the bond sureties names’ private, saying the congressman fears for their health and safety. Murray has also suggested at least one of Santos’s bond sponsors is a relative. “Defendant may move to modify the conditions of his release, should the Suretors seek to withdraw from serving as suretors,” Seybert wrote in the brief ruling, although her attached opinion remains under seal. George Santos’ family members identified as bond backers02:37 - Source: CNN CNN — A federal judge on Thursday unsealed the identities of the co-signers on embattled Rep. George Santos’ $500,000 bond that allowed the New York Republican to stay out of federal custody after he was charged in a 13-count indictment. The guarantors were listed as Elma Santos Preven and Gercino Dos Santos, according to signatures on the court documents that were unsealed. A law enforcement official confirmed to CNN that the guarantors were Santos’ aunt and father, respectively. Neither relative secured the bond with cash or property, according to a court order that was among the documents unsealed Thursday. But Santos’ father and aunt “agreed to be personally responsible” for the congressman’s compliance with the terms of his release, the order noted. I guess he was lying when he said he would rather go to jail than reveal who they were. I'm shocked!

They didn't put anything up to "forfeit" so pay might be a better term. Do they have the resources to do so would be my question.

he is really a strange person.Actually it was a rather rational move IMO. He implied that he had big financial supporters for his career by not disclosing. The fact that he is backed only by two family members burst that image. This behavior fits in perfectly with the fake persona he has created.

The impersonating by George Santos and those associated with him continues. The dishonesty of Republican party members and those around them is outstanding! Santos-linked fundraiser indicted after allegedly impersonating top House aideSamuel Miele, a campaign fundraiser who did work for Rep. George Santos, has been indicted on four counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft after he allegedly impersonated a top aide to a member of House leadership while contacting donors for Santos' campaign efforts, according to an indictment and related memo filed in federal court. The person Miele allegedly impersonated during the 2022 election cycle — labeled "Person #1" in the indictment — is believed to be the chief of staff to now-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, according to previous reports from CNBC, The New York Times and others. The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York alerted federal judges in New York in a separate memo that Miele had been indicted over alleged efforts to "defraud prospective contributors to Devolder Santos's campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives during the 2022 election cycle." Prosecutors are required to give notice to a judge whenever it appears that one case may be related to another. Santos' office declined to comment on Miele. Santos, a freshman congressman from New York's Long Island, was charged with fraud, money laundering and more crimes in May, and has pleaded not guilty on all counts. "Specifically, a grand jury in United States v. Devolder Santos returned an indictment charging defendant Devolder Santos with, among other things, five counts of wire fraud and three counts of money laundering related to Devolder Santos's efforts to defraud prospective contributors to a purported independent expenditure committee that would support his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives during the 2020 election cycle," reads a memo from the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Breon Peace to federal judges in New York. "Similarly, a grand jury in United States v. Miele has returned an indictment charging Miele with four counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identify theft related to Miele's efforts to defraud prospective contributors to Devolder Santos's campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives during the 2022 election cycle." George Santos charged with 10 additional crimes in updated indictmentNEW YORK — Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn on Tuesday unveiled an updated indictment of Rep. George Santos, adding 10 new federal charges and bringing the total counts faced by the Long Island Republican to 23. According to prosecutors, Santos stole people’s identities, made charges on his donors’ credit cards without their authorization and submitted false campaign reports that listed non-existent loans and contributions that were fabricated or stolen. Santos was originally indicted in May. He pleaded not guilty to the original 13 charges. Tuesday’s indictment includes two new counts of wire fraud, two new counts of making materially false statements to the Federal Election Commission, two new counts of falsifying records submitted to obstruct the FEC, two new counts of aggravated identity theft and one new count of access device fraud. Last month, prosecutors disclosed in court papers that Santos has been in plea talks with the government. George Santos charged with 10 additional crimes in updated indictment

That his life and work experience was all a lie. At that time he said he would not resign but would also nor run for reelection. Yet here we are. He plans on running again for his seat in the House.

I figure if his district wants him and the House Republicans keep him, more power to'um.

this is my favourite NON-political one:
the most genius moment is when he creates a new verse by running the video backwards. check out when he starts putting his clothes back on. seriously amazing music over picture. i don't know 50 people in the US that could do this this well. incredibly creative and detailed work.

The New York Times article mentioned in the article below can be found in the link at the bottom of this post. ‘He made it up’: Police say George Santos lied about Chinese communists kidnappingDuring a series of phone calls with a New York Times journalist, Rep. George Santos (R-NY) claimed that his extended family was victimized by the Chinese Communist government which was behind the brief kidnapping of his niece. According to a police official: it never happened. In an extensive piece for the Times, journalist Grace Ashford detailed a history of receiving calls from the embattled lawmaker at all hours, where he alternately defended himself and complained about the turn his life has taken since entering Congress, one time claiming, "I literally threw my entire life into the toilet and flushed it to get elected.” In the midst of those calls, he claimed his niece had been abducted in Queens and hinted the Chinese Communist government was possibly behind it. According to Ashford, Santos was complaining about the threats he has faced when he confessed to her, "I’ll give you one, I’ll give you one story that nobody talks about,” she wrote before adding that he related, "... how his 5-year-old niece disappeared from a playground in Queens, only to be located 40 minutes later on a surveillance camera with two Chinese men. He said the incident was the subject of an active police investigation, implying heavily that it might have been in retaliation for his vocal stance against the Chinese Communist Party." Hold the thief and liar in jail until his trial. I imagine he's a runner. Santos pleads not guilty to new charges, trial set for September 2024Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) pleaded not guilty to federal charges of fraudulently inflating his campaign finance reports and charging his donors’ credit cards without authorization. Santos appeared in court in Central Islip, N.Y., on Friday for his arraignment on the 10 additional charges prosecutors unveiled in a superseding indictment earlier this month. During the proceeding, U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert set the trial to begin Sept. 9, 2024, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. attorney prosecuting the case. The parties had requested a trial date months earlier, either in May or June. Santos’s next court appearance is set for Dec. 12, the spokesperson said. His plea comes as political and legal pressure grows on Santos, including a new effort from a group of fellow New York Republicans to have him expelled from the House. Santos has been the subject of controversy ever since he arrived on Capitol Hill in January after he admitted to embellishing parts of his background while campaigning.
