I read that as “If we wait it out for a bit, he won’t be headline news anymore and we can slide him back in, with no investigation to see if he is compromised or dishonest.” Am I wrong? I don't think the press is going to let this go. Hopefully Santos will be hounded out of the House by the press. Santos's latest lies are his list of donors to his campaign. So many of those listed names have no idea who Santos is nor did they donate to any polical campaigns. The law will catch up with Santos. From the New York Post of all publications (they suck up to trump and company including Santos). Major George Santos donors don’t seem to exist: reportSome of Rep. George Santos’ donors don’t seem to exist, adding new questions about the scandal-scarred freshman Long Island congressman. Santos, who represents Queens and the North Shore, has faced widespread calls to resign from his own party after he was busted fabricating large swaths of his personal and professional resume. The addresses and identities of more than a dozen large donors for Santos’ congressional campaign could not be confirmed according to a new report from Mother Jones. Victoria and Jonathan Regor each donated the maximum of $2,800 to Santos’ campaign — even though their address in Jackson Township, NJ, doesn’t exist and the news outlet could find no one with those names living in the United States. Another donor, Stephen Berger, who gave $2,500, reported living on Brandt Road in Brawley, Calif. But that address is currently occupied by William Brandt, a local rancher, who said he had never donated a penny to Santos and that no Stephen Berger had ever lived at the address. Donating under a false name is a violation of federal campaign law and adds to the growing list of questions surrounding the Congressman’s financial disclosures. Dozens of his campaign expenses are listed as costing $199.99, just one cent below the minimum at which federal law requires a receipt. Major George Santos donors don’t seem to exist: reportWell, this should be enough. He probably used the money from the fake pet charity to make the fake campaign donations to himself. DOJ will make a good example of him.

No, he will not become the next GOP cause celebre. People are following the money. It takes a bit of time to do the research and compile the results. The first results are coming in now.
As you might expect, his claims, or claims made on his behalf, are disintegrating with the slightest scrutiny. It's slightly comical how anytime he gives you a list and you check on it, made-up stuff just jumps out at you. The less comic aspect is that nobody seems to have checked anything until the smoke told them that there was almost certainly fire there too. Neither party did any of the boring fact-checking and the weakened fourth estate only stepped in when it became obvious that they'd find interesting things if they simply flipped the leaves.

this is a really good point, actually. he doesn't do much to "cover up" because he thinks everything he has done is perfect. he even uses that word to describe his crimes. it is bizarre, but shows that he really thinks he is above the law. which should cause everyone to shudder when he uses the term law and order president.

Actually there is some evidence the GOP had an idea the guy was a complete fraud but decided to let sleeping dogs lie, before the election. Probably wishing they had stepped in and run literally any other human being instead, at this point.

Someone commenting on another board said he hoped, should this guy get kicked out of the House, that he walks out in full drag.
That would be awesome. Plus it would give the far righties the vapors.

Are you thinking this is about Santos or Trump? if you are making the case for a broader problem, i agree. but these two are certainly the most visible symptoms.

I can’t find the article now, but I saw where Santos election committee spent like 127k at an Italian restaurant. They worked out how many chicken tetrazzinis that paid for. The answer was bunched.
An extremely high number of 199.99 purchases, too, which is 1 cent below the amount that would require a written receipt.
Committing fraud is one thing. Committing sloppy, laughable, won’t hold up in the light of day fraud is worse.
It requires a special penalty for assuming we’re so stupid we won’t catch that bs.

that was maybe the least believable of his lies.
going to some school on a volleyball scholarship? who even cares?
faking Jewish? that is normally a fatal sin.
