finnime I am sorry you have to write those condolence messages but, given the kindly-worded compassion you show here, I'm sure your letters will be a balm in their grief

Called insurance company and they will pay to remove anything contaminated with black mold in our basement bathroom and replace with new wallboard etc. will just need to pay deductible $1000. Do you think the mold might have played a role in Jerseyguy's struggles with pneumonia and respiratory issues in general? If so, the work might be a game-changer for you both

Another exciting day here in cloudy, slightly drizzly Texas. Got a kolache for breakfast and dropped used coffee pods at the UPS store to be recycled. Typed quite a few chapters but made myself miserable by counting the remaining ones, 134 plus or minus some odd pages that don't seem to belong anywhere. He said he has more for me Friday . I can't wait for my mani/pedi and lip wax tomorrow. I see spring pink toes in my future.

I would take it to a donation place, but don't know of one that takes furniture. Maybe I'll Google it and see if I find anyplace, close. Today is going to be busy. I just want to go back to sleep and ignore the world. I need a couch. The cushions on this piece of crap have lost their molecular integrity. What did I expect for $399? As my mother always said 'Cheap fish makes a terrible fish soup', but in Russian. I LOVE these sayings from around the country and the world. If we have anything in common, it's the timeless wisdom (sometimes) of those who came before us

I am sitting in the garage with Newbie and a leash on Boy, waiting for Mister to get home, to try to enforce to Boy that he can’t just take off running whenever the garage door goes up. He is most definitely not learning from Newbie on that. I don’t have to have a leash on Newbie for her to come sit by my side, behind my car and out of the way, when the garage door opens, and while Mister parks in the garage. And because she is always obedient and calm, she gets to greet Mister first. Boy has to wait until he calms down and stops acting a fool before he can greet Mister.
I’m not sure what else I can do to try to help him get the message. I am open to advice lol.

I think I finally got the application for DD in. I was so frustrated yesterday evening I phoned the agent and park manager. I should not have, I whined to long. And we only have 5 days to do it, so that was stressing me. Then I noticed I had forgotten to take my pills for 2 days, oh boy, talk about stress.
But I could not get the damn thing to work. I got the 2 of us in but they said system error and everything else. It would say it was successfully submitted and then would not be, grrrrr. The park manager finally said it had locked her out yesterday too, that something must have been going on.
This afternoon I created an email account for DD and started a new application and went through it. There were some tweaks since she doesn't work or anything, I'm not sure what it will show up. I called system support today to see if they could tell it went, he said it did this time. It was a VERY simple process until it wasn't. It would not take the credit card, same charge tried to many times so used my debit card. Have had no response back from the park manager. I might have gotten us denied with how upset I was. I hope not, but who knows.
So I'm waiting to hear about that.
Hubs ran into a snow mess for miles and got delayed a bunch, he is 500 miles out and likely would have been there otherwise. At least he got through it ok.
So here I sit waiting to hear. Grandson is all excited, if this doesn't go through, he is going to be one disappointed little boy. I told them just tell him maybe not for sure yet. He is ready to go fishing with grandma.
Our docs appointment with DD went good today, she doesn't have to go back for a year, YES!
So wish me luck, now I'm even more stressed.

Washing sheets. DH warned me when we started dating that he had had some issues with messing the bed due to his TBI, but I had not witnessed it in our almost 16 years together. Until last night. Woke up in the middle of the night to him changing his underwear and laying a towel on a bed. He said it could be sweat, but it was in a very concentrated area.
I washed the mattress pad before leaving for work. Sheets are now in the dryer. Won't be far out of bed after I get it remade.

Boy did a little better today. Just a little though, he still mostly acted a nut.
Mister let them out of the garage to run around. Boy went straight for the stupid blue ball, and they chased each other all over the back and side yards for at least 10 minutes. Boy can run at least as fast as Newbie now, so she can’t always catch him running straight, but she’s smart and catches him in turns. Or when they run in circles around Mister’s old Lincoln, she’ll stop chasing him and go back the other way and catch him head on, because he’s still running in a circle.
The vets said my baby is obese, but she’s still very athletic. We should probably weigh her to see how much weight she’s lost so far.
I asked Mister today, what are we going to do when that stupid blue ball (that’s not even a ball anymore because they’ve ripped it apart) finally disintegrates or disappears. None of the toys we’ve bought them have gotten the same reaction as that blue ball. I really wish I knew what it is about it that makes them so obsessed with it, so I could get them something else they like as much. Mister said today that we are going to buy a ball and toss it under the brush where Newbie found the darn blue ball, and see what happens lol.
Newbie got territorial about it a couple months ago, after one of them brought it in the garage, and I was tempted to just throw it away. But I threw it back out in the yard instead. As long as it’s in the yard somewhere, they will endlessly chase each other trying to get it, but they don’t fuss or fight over it. It’s a game. At some point, they usually end up with both their teeth in it, and play tug of war until somebody loses. Newbie use to drag Boy all over the yard when they did that, trying to make him let go, because she was bigger and stronger than him. But he’s grown enough now, that she can’t do that as easily as before. He’s almost as tall as her now, but he still looks a lot smaller than her because he is lean and she is not. We have been working on getting her weight down, but I think even if she wasn’t overweight, she’d still look bigger than him because her build is more muscular than his.
Because Newbie looks like a big dog to me, it’s become difficult to imagine that OG was a lot bigger than her, but she was. She was a few inches taller than Newbie and just bigger.

I've banished myself to the car at history day (its also to make sure it doesn't get towed from the lot, LOL)
Carrot is stressed and I'm making it worse. I deal with stress by being prepared. Not that kid! The fact that he can't get on WiFi to access his presentation 10 minutes before his call time does not bother him at all. Just me trying to convince him to ask for help does! 😉

Poor Gus. When will he be able to go out again? I let him out this morning because it's supposed to be sunny and almost 50. Half of his paddock will be mud so standing in that should feel good. Unfortunately it was all frozen this morning before work, so hopefully he doesn't slip or hurt his feet more before it warms up. He has orthopedic boots coming, but they've been held up in shipping for 10 days now. He's had a rough year.
Crap that really sucks about the orthopedic boots. I hope they come soon.

I hope you feel better soon, as well. I live in a tiny apt. 460 sq ft. My daughter replaced 2 (barrel?) chairs, she had in her office and a gorgeous huge blue rug, from her living room. My couch is just a little longer than a love seat, so really only seats 2 comfortably. I'm going to switch my daughter's chairs, for the couch, to open the space in my front room. And I hope her rug isn't too big to go in there, because it's so much nicer than my carpet and it's only a year only, max. It would improve the look of my apt SO much! (I've never had new furniture. This will be nice hand me downs.)

I know there are a couple of Jersey folks here. My friends, twin Italian sisters, have opened a bakery in North Plainfield named "For Old Times Bake" based on recipes from their family. I've had some of their cooking before and everthing was delicious! delicious!

We have 2 recliners in the living room. When DD finally moves out the big sofa will go. We will likely replace with an over sized love seat.

I'm miserable. Day 2/10 of augmentine antibiotic dual and resulting stomach upset (immodium and probiotic). Coughing. There's no way I can wear a mask to stop germs. All I can do is spray the air. Very catchy.
H. has been gone or outside most of the time. The Dr. said I got this in the ER when I was there with H. Dr. very unhappy I went in ER with him. This too will pass.
I'm so sorry. I hope you feel better soon.

Boy needs to be calm before he greets Mister, otherwise you're reinforcing behavior you don't like. Can you tell I watch Ceasar Milan a lot? And I don't even have a dog! LOL I hope you've had a better day, Pink Cashmere.

I wish you lived BY ME! Nothing would compel me to live in a Texas nighmare. I wouldn't live there for all the free couches in the world. If you lived by me, you would be in a safe city, where you don't need escorts to walk you to your car at the mall, and you could leave your door unlocked.

I've had some of their cooking before and everthing was delicious! delicious! Looked at them on FB and another website. Looks like they aren't currently open for retail walk-ins as there isn't even a street address listed on either site. Good luck to them and maybe I will check them out if they open to retail in person.

I weeded for a while. I was not joking when I said the thistles were coming up already. I dug out about 10 so far, And also gardening does not elevate my heart rate like it should. My resting heart rate has been getting better. It just got to the excellent category. That just may the only excellent I get with respect to my health. I played a game with the missy, and I'm about to play one with the peanut. This is nice. And also, the peanut's feet are going to be bigger than mine with the next growth spurt. She's not even 11 yet.

We have 2 recliners in the living room. When DD finally moves out the big sofa will go. We will likely replace with an over sized love seat. Mister still really wants a recliner, but we haven’t bought one yet because I want style, while he’s only concerned with function. If we ever agree on a recliner, we will buy 2, and they will replace the “dog” sofa, so idk what the dogs will do then lol. The other sofa in the den (where I always sit) is a nice leather sofa, and the dogs don’t get on it, just the other sofa. So far. The “dog sofa” came from my house, and I pretty much had buyers remorse right after I bought it. So I have no issues with getting rid of it asap. The leather sofa, I helped Mister pick out several years ago, and it’s still a nice sofa. The layout in our den is kind of weird as far as furniture placement goes. One wall is the sliding door and the fireplace, which is surrounded by bricks that go along the rest of the wall too, a couple feet high. Between that and the shelves that take up a whole ‘nother wall, there is only one wall that makes sense to put the tv on. I’ve read that mounting a tv over a fireplace is a bad idea, but if we did that, it would make the den work a whole lot better as far as seating. We’ve never even used the fireplace because the chimney was leaking water into the fireplace when we moved in, and we’ve spent about $4k so far, to stop it from leaking and have the chimney cleaned, but we need a few thousand dollars more of work to repair the inside of the chimney, to make it safe to use the fireplace. That’s not been a priority because we keep having to spend money on other stuff that is more important. I am just hoping that the chimney doesn’t deteriorate even more, before we can get the rest of the work done. We’ve been told it would cost at least $$15k to rebuild our chimney, if it ever came to that. This is the exterior of the chimney. It’s more than what I’ve seen in many homes around here with fireplaces. I’ve been in apartments that had fireplaces, but not a chimney like this. The house I lived in with my Mom as a teen had a fireplace, but not a chimney like this. The chimney here is like a whole ‘nother structure added onto the house. The yellow stick you can see beside the chimney, is the heavy industrial broom I keep on the deck to sweep with. That’s the broom the damn snake knocked over when it was on the deck, which made me turn around and look to see why the broom fell. The sliding door to get in the house is right next to where that broom is. Which is why I ran for my life, off the deck, after I saw it the damn snake. The firepit in the picture is where it ran to hide when YD offered to get my phone that I’d left out there when I ran. And the deck box in the middle of the left of the picture is where it was hiding when Mrs. and Mr. T tried to get it to come out of hiding. Mister wants to just throw the whole deck box away, because that also seems to be where mice like to hang out and nest, ever since I bought it.

I have pretty much spent two solid days working in the yard. I'm beat, but it does look a lot better. I still have a little bit to mulch and some other piddling around stuff, so the heavy lifting is done. Now I can go plant shopping without feeling guilty.

today's been expensive, woof. but, I have an answer as to what's going on with Punk. blood work showed a mild case of pancreatitis. so we got an anti-nausea injectable med at the vet office just now, and came home with a few doses to last the week. she'll be on basic chicken and rice at least through the end of the prescription. here's hoping she's feeling better soon. We went through this with Harpo and thought we were going to lose him. He was on chicken and rice for a very long time. He was utterly miserable, I felt so bad for the brat.

I remember what my mom went through, and it wasn't fun. I'm just cringing at what the "work instructions" are going to be in a month when I drop them off for my 2w adventure. *I* can follow instructions and feed her lean proteins and veggies. I think I'm going to need to prep to only bring shredded chicken, and ALL of it. mooch and I had a convo a couple weeks back about which one of them was sabotaging the weight loss for Punk. I'd have bet (and lost) a mortgage payment that it was him being a Disneyland Dad. he swore up, down, and on his mother's grave that M is the problem with this. so I made sure to check in with her while we waited on blood work, and then waiting to check out of the office, etc. hopefully the next couple weeks go easily, and this won't be a thing to worry about.

I got my couch for free and it was only a few months old, in like new condition. It hasn't been used very often, so is still in great shape. I hate to throw it away. I wish you lived by me! I wish you lived BY ME! Nothing would compel me to live in a Texas nighmare. I wouldn't live there for all the free couches in the world. If you lived by me, you would be in a safe city, where you don't need escorts to walk you to your car at the mall, and you could leave your door unlocked. It's okay. I don't live in Texas. I'm in Utah. And even though I gripe about it sometimes, overall it's pretty safe. Especially compared to most other places. It just isn't as safe as it was when I was growing up. But no place is. I'm glad you like where you live. I just wish you felt better.

Once we both came down with Covid we realized we realized we needed recliners to sleep easy when sick. DH had one before, but after getting sick I needed functionality. We never have visitors and it is much more important now that we are comfortable and use the space as we want. We have Lazy Boys, with covers. Our fireplace is propane, so no mess. My sister has but I would never mount a TV over a fireplace. But she doesn't use her fireplace, we do.
