It got up to 70 degrees here, so it’s been a nice sunny day. I am currently sitting on the deck, but it’s not as inviting and peaceful as it use to be, because the deck is a mess from all the stuff Boy has destroyed out here, including the rug. I am very unhappy about all the stuff he has damaged and destroyed out here. Between his destructive tendencies and him still peeing and pooping in my house sometimes, I regularly threaten him and Mister that I’m going to take him somewhere and drop him off. A couple weeks ago I noticed he’s been chewing on the trim on the doorway to the living room. When I finally noticed it and said something about it to Mister, he said “shit! I meant to fix that before you saw it!” Anybody want a puppy? He’s cute, but that’s about all he has going for him so far. I know it's really not funny but I can't help it. Puppies are a lot like kids - if they weren't so darned cute, they would not make it to adulthood. My neighbor had to replace several doors in his house because he raised 2 Great Dane puppies who nonchalantly chewed through them Does that mean you want him? I’ll bring him to you.

People told me to use that sour green apple spray on things I didn't want Sabah to chew on. It worked she didn't chew on it. Midnight did. Midnight LOVED the stuff. So I switched to Hot sauce on someone else's recommendation. Sabah liked the hot sauce.

I thought Newbie was bad with chewing on stuff, including the wood steps to the deck, but that was nothing compared to Boy. He has toys inside the house and on the deck, and he chews on them but he still also chews on and tries to eat random stuff. All.the.time. He’s in the corner on the deck right now, gagging and about to throw up, probably from eating something I didn’t see him eat, to stop him. HE IS TERRIBLE!

if I tried doing that, I'd get accused of not doing my job. ans everyone and their mother gets CC'd on every damn thing. 🙄 it sucks. Newer Outlook has this azucena function which allows me to assign emails tasks specifically to a person. It also means that emails show up flagged for my assignments in the 'mention' sorting column so I can see what others have assigned to me. Only a few of us use it so far and mostly folks make fun of me for doing it and trying to be hip like hashtagging. I pressing for it to catch on though because it's a nifty tool for the emails that canvass the internal world. Outlook automatically moves Azucena.email.com into To line when you mention me, so you can't forget to copy someone in if you assign them something. there's only a few that use tagging here, too. idk if it moves you to the To: field or not, I've never noticed. but re: CC'ing, the "core team" is always fully in the To: field for operational things, whether it's your focus or not. but the CC: field ends up full of upper management of various flavors, depending on what the topic is. it's ridiculous.

Mister has both dogs out in the yard now. They are tussling over that darn blue ball. They both have their teeth on it and Newbie is dragging Boy around the yard, trying to make him let go of it.

Roofers finally started working today, quote was done in September. Half is done. DH is happy so far. They are packing up now, and fucking up my driveway. I just want to go to bed.
And I'm eating white cheddar popcorn for dinner - it's not even the good stuff. I'm over this day.

On the topic of overgrown email lists: I tried to cut one enormous one down, primarily in the interests of not saying “yay we got funded” to the large chunk of people who just got cut from the project. Sent a separate email to the heads of said groups to inquire whether they still wanted to be on emails and invited to meetings. Coworker then sent out an email to the original list plus extra with a “yay, we got funded, and you’re still all welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings even though we’re not paying you!”. I give up. I feel like I’m trying really hard, overthinking, and doing it wrong anyway. So now I’m just trying really hard to move on.

Love the pics of Boy, Pink Cashmere! I have somewhere a picture of Franklin the Dog as a year-old with 13 pairs of my shoes, chewed to bits. He's the first dog I've had that did shoes.

Mister’s parents were into it all day yesterday and last night. Mom got mad at Dad because he wouldn’t help her get comfortable. She still can’t move much because of the stroke she had when she was in the first hospital a few months ago.
So around the time he was supposed to take his evening meds last night, Dad called Mister, asking which medicines he was supposed to take at that time, because Mom told him “If you aren’t going to help me, I’m not going to help you”, and she wouldn’t help him with his meds.
Even though it’s a sad situation, that was still amusing. They are both almost 70yo old and acting like children. But this is what they both said they wanted, for Dad to stay at the hospital with her, so she can keep him on track with everything he needs to do. “On track” is my wording to describe the situation, not something either of them have said in those exact words, to my knowledge.
Mister gave them all the meds in their original containers on whatever day that was that he got fed up with them, so all Dad has to do is read the instructions on the containers, and I think that’s what Mister told him to do.

Today was a workday best summed up by: beatings will continue until morale improves.
An overworked analyst moved internally to greener pastures. Boss dude thinks the fix is to restructure, add brand new mid level manager and reduce analyst headcount by 0.5 to 1.5 people depending on whose org structure you believe. Completely tone deaf to those of us saying we are overworked and burning out.
My 2023 goal is to make him triage the work and decide which clients get late answers.

Love the pics of Boy, Pink Cashmere ! I have somewhere a picture of Franklin the Dog as a year-old with 13 pairs of my shoes, chewed to bits. He's the first dog I've had that did shoes. I have learned to keep my shoes in the closet so he can’t get them. He still takes my house shoes and hides them though. And whatever shoes Mister has out in the bedroom. And Mister’s Dad’s shoes. He always takes them to the living room, so it’s not hard to find them. Some days there are 4 or 5 random shoes in the living room. Idk what it is about the living room, but that’s where OG use to hide stuff. And when we got Boy, Newbie started taking his toys out of the den and hiding them in the living room, even though she’s always had her own toys. Now that is also where Boy takes random stuff he finds around the house (like shoes) to hide it and where he takes stuff like paper towels to tear up. “Hiding” doesn’t mean out of sight, it’s always all been in the middle of the floor in there, so easy to see. I just don’t know why that room has been the spot for all the dogs to take stuff to.

In other updates, Teen's paper wasn't due today, it's due tomorrow. They were prepared to turn in B- level work today but instead are coming over to take advantage of my res pen and guidance for a few more hours. I declared my bedtime as 11 pm. Flexing to teen schedule some but also can't do another late, late for my own work week sake.

Because I’m back on the boundaries thing in my personal life, I see that as “I am willing to help you as much as I can, but not to my own detriment”, which looks like you setting a boundary, which is not a bad thing. It is awesome that you are trying to help this child. And it’s awesome that your child trusted you enough to even ask you to help her friend, and believed you were the kind of person to try to help if, and as much as you could. If nobody has told you recently, I’ll tell you and hope you believe it, that you are AWESOME!

Trying to focus on doing 1 thing at a time to dig out of the hole I am in. Pretty hard when 5 people come and ask you the same damn question. This is where working at home is a blessing. Amen sister! I smooth would have punched my assistant in the face today if I lived in OH. He's lucky I'm in KS. For background commercial underwriters ask for a loss history (loss runs) when considering an application. They like them to usually be less than 60 days old but some will take them up to 90 days old. Me: Is there a reason you have expired loss runs labeled as current in this file? A: They are updated. You just need to do XYZ. Me: They are from 2021. I need them updated. A: (Sends me bunch of stuff I didn't ask for). I emailed them all to you. You should be good now. Me: You literally sent me everything but what I need. Get the loss runs updated. A:(Sends me more stuff including old loss runs.) You good now? Me: Have you bothered opening the loss runs in question? Look at the date. It was run in 2021! A: That must be a typo. (Because he can't possibly be wrong) Me: Will you please order updated loss runs before I have a stroke?! A: I have some from October. Will those work? Me: For the love of God please do what I'm asking you to do! I told my boss about it later. She said he has been explicitly told on multiple occasions not to question me or my counterparts and to do what he's asked because there's always a reason. I about quit my job.

Son called in a good mood, I'm sure he was driving home after work. He got a $7k raise today, said he hasn't had a chance to figure the % yet and a $2k bonus, so he was pretty happy. Then he gets a cost of living too. Damn, he is doing better than I ever did. I'm very happy for him. He is wanting to build a garage and a shed for wifey plus put in a new kitchen, won't all happen in one year, but sounds like he will be able to afford it. But knowing him, he will save it.

The leader of our entire unit continues to try to convince us that 3 is equal to or greater than 4. I mean. If I put three m&ms out in a pile for the missy, and 4 m&ms in a pile and ask her to pick the pile with more M&ms, she's going to figure out that four is bigger than three. This is math my 5 year old is competent enough to do with manipulative. Shouldn't a person in their late 50s/early 60s be able to do that kind of math, without manipulatives?

I bought several more of the Lean Cuisines and some others on sale for $2.50 each, just enough for DD and I for lunch. She wanted one for dinner tonight, so fixed it. Hubs had leftover roast and veggies, I had a piece of roasted chicken from the deli. I'm using the rest of the roast in veggie soup tomorrow. It tastes really good so should make good soup, I'm going to skim the fat off, just put it in the fridge so I can. I'm reducing the food I eat so I feel less full, I wish I had done that for the 2 days before the EGD, just never really thought about it. Dumb move.
I may have some oatmeal with honey for a snack though, as I have eaten very little the last 2 days.
They are giving son raises really regularly, since he has been back in the states. He said before when the director retires he was wanting him to take over but he didn't want to. Hubs said the way they are doing, he wouldn't be surprised in the near future if they tell him to take it or go as his pay is going to get to high. He worries about the time we move they will move him. I know son doesn't want to go there, he wants to retire where he is, but he would to keep the job, it's too good to give up. But hubs finds every negative thing he can it seems. I said up there we could always sell whatever house we bought.

Besides helping Teen, it is nice that my dd14 sees me as valuable bc we are deep into the bumping heads stage. It was also good to see someone out procrastinate her and not br able to completely wing their way out of it bc senior level classes are harder than freshmen. Dd14 has honors English final left tomorrow. She has aced everything else even though she didn't manage her time at all. I car lectured a bit about how giftedness will only carry her so far and she's about to bump that edge real soon. She heard it and actually agreed. This is the nonbinary Teen that hasn't had any parental help for college visits, apps, decisions. They are in complete power struggle. I carefully inserted myself to add them to local college visit early Feb with dd14. That was just the kick start they needed bc they slipped in last night a bunch of facts about relevant degrees offered and cost. I get the impression that Teen parents don't like that they want to do theater education degree (not good enough career) and I also think they don't fully approve nonbinary so this is their 'punishment'. I'm treading very carefully but can't sit by and watch an honor roll student miss college bc of some passive aggressive stuff.

[br The real kick in the teeth is that our company continues to add staff all over the rest of the organization but not ours and we are on the front line of bringing in revenue.

I think I'll go out to the club tonight. It's electronic music, which I like.
They always seem surprised when they see an old woman there.

Today's conversation about antibiotics was fresh in my mind when a neighbor called to say she just started another Z-pack, this time for a self-diagnosed sinus infection. Between those and her UTI's she's on a Z-pack 6-7 times a year. She always wants me to go to the store for Activia because the drugs give her the runs. She doesn't even have to see a doctor-they just call in a prescription for delivery. I no longer go to the store for her, if you take antibiotics regularly, you can get probiotic pills and keep them on hand to counter the diarrhea. My docs won't prescribe without labs confirming an infection which I think is a more responsible approach. Not every sinus inflammation is an infection and only a nasal swab can determine if bacteria are present.

I'm just happy this work day is over. I spent all day at the office dealing with the craptastic network there, and therefore getting a lot less done that I could have at home. Two days working from home then a Monday holiday, so I'm not complaining.
