I'm so glad I took Tuesday and Wednesday off. Next week with five whole work days will be a bitch, though.

whooo.....24 years old is way too young to just collapse and die. I'm really hoping that's not the news that comes out tomorrow, but broadcasters are pretty fucking shell-shocked and both teams have been back in the locker rooms almost an hour now. I missed the hit, but flipped the channel over about an hour ago, and nothing has changed.
if you're not a football fan and have no udea what I'm talking about, please look up the name Damar Hamlin. and offer up whatever positive energy you can, in whatever platform you see fit.

Nobody here wants to go back to regular life tomorrow. DS decided to go to town for the night in case the freezing rain gets bad and I'm debating not packing my computer up. If school is off or a late start I'll just have to pull it all back out.
Wonder how late I'll stay up? Probably really freaking late so that I'm kicking myself in the morning.
How much snow are you supposed to get this time around? I don't think more than a few inches (although it's coming down pretty good already), it's the 1/4 inch of ice I was worried about, but it seems to have shifted more southwest so we're not getting the ice yet. Still says it's coming in the night, but it's not quite as bad if it's freezing rain on top of snow anyhow.

I've already lost 1 of my Christmas gifts. It's a training journal I asked for, and I wanted to jot down notes about class tonight and it's gone. I've had it a week! Along with my Crocs. Maybe I should believe dc friend and blame the fae.
Tried to do a quick date night with dh after my class tonight but surprise to no one, everything closes by 8pm. We went to Andy's and brought home ice cream to the kids instead.
Found a very simple dinner that went over really well. Meatballs with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I can't believe I've never done that before. That can practically be an instant dinner with meatballs from the freezer and premade/frozen or instant mashed potatoes, so will definitely add that into rotation.

We don't need these kinds of furnaces serviced like others. Only needs done if the emergency heat comes on or some of the light codes start blinking. Though some are self diagnosing and just temporary. I've had it done twice, I think, since we have lived here. Really like that part. I did spent a thousand or so on it the second time, finally got the owner out here and not sure we needed what the other guy said.
I should make one more trip to the basement since I left the lights on down there.
I did, took down clean red throw rugs and towels. While down there put all the lights away and looked for my yellow and lavender towels and flowers to put back in vase in bathroom. I can't remember for the life of me where I put them. Tomorrow will look in the kitty room. I hate it. I put stuff away and can't remember where. That is a pretty big stack so has to be somewhere with room. Checked the bedroom downstairs nope, the sewing room nope. The couch where the throw rugs and shower curtain was, nope. So where did I put the damn things? With those lost pillow slips I guess, LOL!
That's it for tonight, I quit.

It's raining here and thunderstorms. The temperature is 61 degrees but the barometer is going down. Supposed to cool till 30 soon but end up about 40ish during the day.
Going to be miserable tomorrow it appears.

I didn't see anything spectacular about it, but as soon as he went down I knew it was bad. He was on the ground and not loaded into the ambulance way too long. There have been many a player who has had an unknown/undiagnosed medical issue that shows itself on the field though. I pray he is alright.

Good morning, invisible founts of wisdom and empathy. Welcome to Tuesday, the first work day of the new year. I hope yours is smooth and easy to negotiate after a day or seven off, and that you end up ahead of where you started in meeting your goals. Today I will get some things into the mail and do some of the cleanup and sorting after the holidays. I ordered some ornament storage from Costco that will come on Thursday. They have adjustable dividers in the drawers, perfect for our eclectic mix. No more wrapping in scraps of newspaper and throwing into a box. And they were on sale! This will be a year when I will be paying more attention to that. A lot of our spending for 2022 was necessary at the moment, regardless of price. This year will be different. It's going to rain today, but not until after our dawn stroll on the beach. Yesterday I saw a queue of tiny dinosaurs on the walkway to the water from the jetty, waiting patiently for the sun to fully emerge. #lifeonvacation

I fell asleep on the couch, woke up at 2am and have been pretty much awake ever since, so that's awesome. Been worrying about my kid driving to his first day of work in this crap. We're covered in ice, not sure how bad it is at his dad's, but schools announced a 2 hour delay about an hour ago already.
I'm going to be super freaking tired today!!

I hope your ice melts and you both are safe today. Looks like I only have fog again today followed by rain. Not my favorite, but much nicer than what you have.

I watched it later on, and I've seen way more violent hits that players bounce back up from. reports from overnight are that he suffered cardiac arrest on the field and was revived before being loaded into the ambulance. such a freak accident, and I hope he will be okay.

Well, now schools are closed for the day. I sent an email out earlier that I'd be in once they opened and working from home until then, so I guess technically I told them I wasn't coming in today.

Brought Jerseyguy to hospital yesterday about 9am.He has fluid on lung and was having trouble breathing. The ER was hugely busy he was in bed in corrider . The entire ER is lined with corrider beds. Doctor said he was admitted , I left around 4 as it’s rush hour and wanted to get home before dark Called this morning he’s still in corrider waiting for a room along with 30 others in the ER I’m hoping neither of us gets another plague - flu, RSV, Covid etc He’ll be there at least till Thursday as he will have fluid drained but needs to be off blood thinner for some amount of time I don’t remember Went to sleep at 9 and slept till 9 am. No paper again, we got paper maybe 3 times in last 2 weeks. so called to cancel but on hold for 5 min. Will try later Will take down tree etc today. And vacuum his ‘favorite’ chair - expecting lots of crumbs under cushion

With apologies to those of you stumbling back to work this morning, I'm looking forward to Business as Usual again. Yesterday was boring. I amused myself by working on my Internal Rate of Return spreadsheet for 2023, adding some updates to my taxes and moving money out of the inheritance form Dad into the kids' 529s and the Donor-Advised Fund. The 529s are worth $30,000 less in total than what I put into them since I started the first one around 2015. I made an appointment on-line with Pella to get a quote on window replacements and will be making another with the second major name (Anderson). I've got 6 windows facing the lake, two rows of 3, bottom row maybe 7', top row maybe 2.5'. I'm dreading that estimate even if I do the cheap thing and replace them with 3 taller windows. I'm also asking them to quote two windows in the dining room that are the only others I haven't replaced (house built in 1995, we bought in 2015). I'm definitely not doing both but if the price of the 3 facing the lake is too hefty I'll do the dining room and save up for the other 3.

You might want to consider an independent window installation contractor. Often, they do roofs etc as well. I did that and ended up with Harvey windows with which I'm delighted. The installers were fantastic. I could have bought Pella or Anderson from them, but the Harveys were a better price and option.

The 529s are worth $30,000 less in total than what I put into them since I started the first one around 2015. That seems like a lot considering most of those years were very good years...unless most of that money was invested recently. I started Carrot's in 2012 and the account balance is still 30% earnings.

The installers were fantastic. I could have bought Pella or Anderson from them, but the Harveys were a better price and option. I'm a little wary of trying contractors I don't know. I suppose I could ask on my town's FaceBook page. There's a lot at stake (I'm guessing $10,000+) and it's a difficult job since the bigger windows are second-story and will require very high ladder work. I don't want to find them leaking two years from now. ETA: I just got on a news site and got a banner ad for window installers in my area. Big Brother strikes again. The 529s are worth $30,000 less in total than what I put into them since I started the first one around 2015. That seems like a lot considering most of those years were very good years...unless most of that money was invested recently. I started Carrot's in 2012 and the account balance is still 30% earnings. I just did more analysis. I have been contributing more since the money from Dad's estate came through in late 2021, but totals are $119K at 12/31, $102K invested. I feel a little better but need to do some re-allocations.

I really do not want to be working. I have my radiation check up today. It's so weird that this time, last year, I could get there in my sleep. Now, I've totally forgotten where to go.

I don't wanna adult today! The first workday of the new year is always the worst. Got my genetic test done. I didn't need an appointment the front desk was wrong on that account. It showed I had already consulted with the doctor via phone. The nurse went ahead and did the swab and had them change it so I am not charged for an actual appointment. I don't hold out hope that I am going to be able to take anything. I told the nurse based on my history, my brother and mom I am fairly confident that the red column is going to be HUGE. It is extremely frustrating and disheartening to go through trying a medication, having umpteen side effects then going through the mess of withdraw. So if everything is red at least I know that option is closed to me and can quit wasting time/money/energy pursing it.

I got quotes from Pella and Anderson to replace 5 Anderson windows where the seal had broke. I ended up going with Pella. I could get what I wanted because the cost was prohibitive. I did use their installer for the guarantee. I've been told Pella is about a year behind from estimate to installation. I was also told prices have increased substantially since I had mine done.

I placed an order for flower seeds. It might be kind of early, but since covid they sell out early on the popular things.
