I'm going to change the towels and run a load of laundry while we watch TV tonight. DH will help with cooking the black-eyed peas and collards tomorrow. It looks like Sunday afternoon will be a good time for pulling up dead plants and trimming off frozen things. Unicorn generator person will be here sometime Monday to put on the new monitoring sensor so that may be another "dead" time I can work on the yard. You do know that tomorrow isn't New Year's, right? Or do you cook them the day before and then reheat them?

We'll heat them up Sunday afternoon and bake a bit of bread to go with them. Sunday morning will be another over-the-top breakfast at our local taqueria with homecooked goodies from across Latin America

Due to Covid, I’ve watched so much tv! Going through different movies on Prime Video. Right now, I’m watching 10 Things I Hate About You with Heath Ledger and Julia Styles.

Right now, I’m watching 10 Things I Hate About You with Health Ledger and Julia Styles. enjoy. that is one of a snall handful of movies I can recite from start to finish. sad thing about that one, I was sailing when Heath Ledger died, the news broke via cabin tv news. at that night's headliner show, the lead singer said a few words about him, and when their song was chosen for that movie. and then they played it, and we all cried. 🥀 so, when Bianca dismisses Kat after her revelation about Joey, that song is "Your Winter" by Sister Hazel. it's not a long snippet, but if you know the song, you'll hear it. that whole soundtrack is fantastic.

Urgh. Grandma hates the chair and it is apparently not appropriate for her needs. Now we have to figure out how to return it. ETA: NFM can take it back and are arranging with me to go pick it up. So that was easy. In my defense I had no idea that there were differences in lift recliners and it is not like I had a ton of time to research my options. I was back into a corner and the purchase is what Medicaid recommended I do to spend down funds. I am a bit ashamed of myself because there is a part of me that was hoping it couldn't be returned, the nursing home would throw a fit and yank POA from me too. [img src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png" alt="[img class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png" alt=" "]" class="smile"] Grandma is an insanely potent trigger for me which I am working on but even the therapist said it's understandable I freak every time they contact me. That place triggers me from your posts. No surprise you'd freak when they contact you given their history. I hope it does get better with that new admin.

My laundry is in the dryer and DH will put his in the washer in a few.
Two dear friends took an incredible leap of faith and went from stable and lucrative pay jobs to their dream jobs effective Jan 1. I applaud their spirts and embrace their choices, plus that will put them in places to benefit my community going forward.
Next year will be incredibly bitter and hard-fought local mayoral and council races. Council races are already being litigated in our courts, and those issues will probably go to the state Supreme Court. DH and I have already discussed who we will support and for how much $$. The results will definitely impact our home values and quality of life here.
Night all!

Gosh, anytime I sit down, I have one cat laying on my legs and the other behind my head. I think my boys missed me. They have been so loving even with hubs. Tigger heard DD and was rolling all over trying to see her. I had her come over and pet him, he purred up a storm. We found a car for the tenant. More money than we wanted to pay but cheap cars that run are hard to find. It's a 2008 Chevy Impala, hubs thinks those are pretty good cars. Sadly has a 140k miles on it. We never keep one that long anymore except our last truck did have 160k on it. We bought it in the little town near us and the lady that runs the sales is having a wheel bearing fixed as the ABS light came on. She lowered the price when we said why we were buying it, ate the cost of fixing the wheel bearing and included the taxes in it too. We are giving them cash money, probably made a difference. She said she has helped people too, selling a few cars with no interest and just paying her back. She seems like a decent person but you never know. Used car people have such a terrible reputation. Anyway will take her Monday and Tuesday to get insurance and plates, fill it with gas and give her $50 for future gas. Then she is going to have to do something to get a job. I got a treat for all of us tonight, something we don't get very often. A large milkshake for hubs, a medium strawberry for DD, and me a banana split. Can't remember the last time I had one. Told all that was our new years treat. Tomorrow night I will make popcorn. I used to have a 2008 Impala. Bought it new and drove it every day for 10 years. It was a great car!

I forgot to mention earlier, today I noticed on the sign outside the Y, the current "resolution special" is $0 down, Jan free for the gym literally a 2min drive. not sure the rest of the terms as far as contract length or anything. I think membership is $35/mo, but I know it includes the outdoor pool that opened last spring. special goes til the 2nd. tell me this is a good idea, bc I'm leaning toward it. please and thank you.

We got an email from our gym that they are shut down until January 16 to replace the floors. After being shut down 1/2 of December to replace the heating system, and a couple more weeks to repair the pool. I'm wanting to go ballistic on them and ask for a credit on our $121/monthly membership, but DH is a woos. He now knows not to bring his whine up here

I spent an unholy amount of money at Sam's Club tonight. Taking DS with me may have been a mistake! Part of it is prepping for the football party Sunday though, so lots of "extras" we wouldn't normally buy.

Stopped shopping for a lightweight, non-insulated rain jacket for Kiddo. Found one that I will probably get when it comes back in stock even though it costs more than I wanted. About to play the matching cube game until bedtime.

Was in the mood for a horror movie, so watched The Black Phone with DS. (Ethan Hawke as a serial killer). We both thought it was quite good, but I think I need to watch a sit com now.

Watching Gremlins. Abby is fascinated with it.
If Die Hard counts as a Christmas movie then Gremilns is absolutely one too.

I just finished the second mystery novel in the 3 novel book. It was Stillwatch by Mary Higgins Clark, pretty good book. Starting the 3rd, A Cry In the Night.
I'm going to have to put Smoky to bed. He has ben laying on his back all sprawled out on my lap while I'm rubbing his tummy. I guess he finally had enough as he went to the couch. So he got his loving for tonight, LOL!
I'm sitting here watching an old Looney Tune cartoon with Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner. I still like these old ones.
We went to the city today and got DD's new glasses and mine were all out of shape so got these straightened. Went to Fresh Thyme and bought some veggies. I cooked a pot of green beans with bacon seasoning and small potatoes tonight, love those things. DD and I ate lunch in the small restaurant by the house and brought hubs home a sandwich. Then had to go back to town to deposit one of hubs RMD's and rent money plus get money for the car.
We got the suitcases put up today, I have everything washed and hung up. But there is still odds and ends of stuff all over to put away.
Had a $10 coupon for CVS so got flonase and a tall Christmas figure, a skinny snowman I guess for $16, it was half price. I also ordered 2 new red net lights, much longer than I have from Amazon for next year.
Lands End had 80% off so bought little guy 2 pair of new shoes and a pair of boots to send to him. He is really growing.
It's quarter after 12, I need to go to bed. Not starting a new book tonight and too late to watch a movie.
I even popped popcorn tonight.

I'm trying to import pictures for a freebie photo book I got from TravelZoo. All is well except for the actual import of images, which seems to be hung on something. I'll give it a few more minutes.
Ah, okay, I've got it working. It wants to fill automatically. I'll do that then edit; it's easier to go with its flow.

Listening to DH talk in his sleep - a common occurrence. Sometimes he repeats conversations he had earlier in the day. It can be quite amusing.
Right now it is touching and funny. He started out telling me that he is "here for me for whatever I need", and progressed to "if you want to use and abuse me I'm ok with that". 🤣

Good morning, extraordinary invisipeeps, plotting and planning your hours and days. You've come a long way in the past pandemic! Happy Saturday, New Year's Eve. I hope your day and night are celebratory with no time wasted on regrets, and that the champagne flows smoothly into tomorrow's mimosas. soupandstew inspired me to consider making Hoppin' John for tomorrow. It's tasty stuff, which is lucky in its own right and the black-eyed peas double the luck. Or something like that. I have the guest bedroom ready for DSis to spend the night if she likes. I hope she does. It's supposed to be rainy today and again crazily warm. We did get red skies yesterday morning. The tiny dinosaurs enjoyed it, I think.

There is a dementia simulation house in Cedar Falls, connected with the University of Northern Iowa. They put the caregiver through what it is like to be the person with dementia. I don't know exactly how it is done. They do a session after the simulation. Some caregivers cry because they think they have been doing it all wrong. Others are relieved that they now have insight in to how the dementia brain can work. They do some counseling afterwards for the caregivers. My parents are both gone so I have no need to go there. I wish it had been there when my dad was alive and going through the walk of dementia I never knew that. That's interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind.

Sitting around drinking coffee. Sam's order is happening. Tomorrow I'm going to mass produce burritos. I promised some to a friend. I'll give some to another friend just because. I'll keep a dozen out for us to graze on during the week and put the rest in the freezer.

trying to motivate myself to get moving. was awake overnight a couple hours again, ugh. I need to hit Walmart before it gets too late in the day. I decided to abandon the mission yesterday when it was near impossible to find a parking spot.
it's looking to be a grey couple of days this weekend, which is a bummer for me. I love to take in sunrise on new years day. I haven't been able to the past few years due to the weather.

I submitted on the Southwest Air's site the tickets for the flight and the train ride for DD and asked for $ reimbursement. It will take a little time but I'm pretty sure I'll get the money.
