Still waiting for the daughters to wake up. We’ve been getting video and pictures of Miss Grandbaby opening her gifts. (She was at our house for dinner and gifts last night. We want them to have their own family Christmas morning.) So, I am unsubscribing from email lists while I wait.

Enjoying the quiet. Watching "A Christmas Story" before finally watching "A Christmas Story Story".

We had 60 minutes of unremitting bombardment followed by sporadic outbursts including small arms fire. No, I'm not reporting from Kyiv, just another Christmas Eve in my neighborhood. The main fireworks activity starts at midnight and runs to around 1 or so, with intermittent bursts after as people go inside periodically to thaw out and get another drink. I felt really happy not to hear any gunfire on my block or any fire trucks. This was practice for New Year's, and then we have Lunar New Year but that's mostly big displays in the Asian shopping areas, less at the homes.

2 of 3 Christmas celebrations down.
Ds got probably 25 hours worth of lego sets to build and is hunkered down with them. DC settled in with books from Santa.
Santa doesn't wrap things here either and Santa gifts are books and 1 smaller item. This year santa got ds used books because a series he wanted is out of print everywhere. It looked like he got library books. Lol. It was nice to be able to put Santa stuff out while ds was up but lego-ing in his room and not wait till everyone was asleep.
Still have my inlaws this afternoon. I ordered 3 years of albums for them, deciding that it was better to give them then keep waiting to get pictures of niblings from sil and bil. I already warned sil and she asked what years I needed....I've been asking for over 5 years... but whatever. They come with the promise that I will always make any and every album requested when I have photos. I still have guilt though.
Dc sewed me a reusable shopping bag (with my moms help). It really is the best thing I received. That one is too sweet.

No water (we have a well) Jerseyguy thought too many taking showers emptied tank. He and ODS went to basement checked fuses and tank. Water back!! Six eating bacon and eggs in kitchen. I’m making inroads on big pot of coffee Frig is packed from yesterday’s meal. We decided not to go to mass, ODS said not wise during the multiple plagues going around. Jerseyguy and DDIL very susceptible to getting very ill. Temps up from 4 yesterday to 15 today, yay!! No snow on road but it’s white with salt Merry Christmas!

Sitting around thinking about getting started on the cooking. Presents are done. All unwrapped, unpackaged, and trash is out. Kiddo is relaxing on the couch. I won't be surprised if she falls asleep for a nap after all of the morning's excitement.

DD2 up at 2:30 with 101.6 fever. DD1 up at 4:30 with 100.5 fever.
Covid negative but no Christmas celebrations with the in-laws today.
Kids still had fun opening gifts and playing but are already in bed napping now. Poor girls.
DH made us hot dogs for breakfast on the ninja foodi grill / air fryer that Santa brought him.

Merry Christmas to me! Woke up with a fever (like 100.1 to 100.7 depending on which side of the temple) and decided to take a Covid test since my parents are headed this way. The fucker was positive. Called both parents to tell them. Dad is still headed this way while Mom decided to stay home. Besides feeling a little acky and was chilly over night, I feel fine. 🤔 That sucks. Hope it stays mild! Because I tested positive, DH tested himself too and he’s positive. He had been down for a couple of days but attributed it to something else. Wonderful!

Penny bit one of the girls. She didn't bite down so it didn't break the skin, but I am not happy. This time I can't blame anyone except Penny. She had let some of the other kids pet her, acted ok when E approached her, and then snapped at her. It scared E, of course. I can't seem to keep Penny put up. My house isn't that big. She barks so loudly that you can't hear when I try. I was holding her at the time. Actually, I held her the entire time. After the incident, she went back to being calm, sweet Penny. She is actually a pretty calm dog overall, just not around kids. Even workmen don't bother her. I never worry about her biting anyone, just kids. It will be another year before they are back, if then. But I hate it also for Penny's sake. It means she isn't welcome in either of my kids' homes. Can you keep her contained in your bedroom when people are over? Will she destroy anything? You could always put her in a kennel in a quiet place too. Astro is a biter so he stays in a closed bedroom when people are over.

It will be another year before they are back, if then. But I hate it also for Penny's sake. It means she isn't welcome in either of my kids' homes. She clearly doesn’t like children so maybe the rule should be everyone ignores her. Just because a dog is present doesn’t mean she has to be bothered. Penny was probably tired of being approached by the kids and expressed that clearly with the last one. Not a great outcome of course, but she’s apparently not used to that much stimulation. Do you have a kennel for Penny? It would help to get one. Start keeping her food and water in it by the door of the kennel if she’s reluctant to get in it. Gradually move both towards the back of the kennel the more comfortable she gets going into it. She only gets treats in relation to getting in/out of her kennel. Her toys go in her kennel. Eventually she will learn that the kennel is a safe place, not a punishment. My dogs always had kennels that were a sanctuary for them where no one and no other animals were allowed to disturb them. When they had enough of the household activity they would go in their kennels. Because it was a safe place they never threw a fit if I had to lock them in the kennels. The twins each have a kennel of their own. Neither is allowed in the other's. It's the one space in the house where only they are allowed.

Hoping that ibuprofen brings it down again. Of course, there is also a kids medicine shortage and I tried to pick up extra bottles last week and everything was out. So my full bottles of tylenol and motrin are quickly dwindling. Hoping they break soon!

Well damn. We got a new wifi extender and I'm trying to set it up. It says the serial number is already registered to another customer. I bought it new from Amazon.

Made it home. Set up a FaceTime with the Toddler for this evening.
DN3 and family dropped off a Christmas present. I will open after my nap.
I was on interstate or 4 lane roads until a mile from my house. Roads were fine but the drifts were bigger the farther west I came. Alexa just informed me of a winter storm advisory for this evening in to tomorrow. I'm done with winter.
Now it's time for the kitties and I to nap.

The wallet Bob got dad ended up being more emotional than we anticipated we weren't expecting dad to cry when he opened it.
We went with the right photo. We narrowed it down to two. I suggested the one he ended up going with because it's the one always sitting on the desk and he took ot to Colorado with him.
That way he doesn't have to worry about losing the picture because it's always with him.

Trying to thaw out (its 45 here, which is warm by most of y'all's standards, I know) but it is also cloudy and rainy. I still have chores on the chore list, which I will start on shortly. No big plans for tomorrow, aside from kickboxing; the gym opens at 6 am and I need to get back on an early schedule again. I really need a new wallet, so I may go shopping tomorrow. DH's old turntable finally quit, so we may also go check out some new ones.

Since I warmed up and the power company quit crying, I ran a load of laundry this morning. A little later I'll throw the stuffed chicken in the oven.
Tomorrow I'll wipe down the kitchen and maybe check out a sale in the afternoon

We had a rough, windy and rainy night at sea last night and this morning. Seas have calmed down some and the sun is out, but the captain has already said we are in for some rougher weather this afternoon and evening.
Facetimed my sister this morning to wish her Merry Christmas. She and her daughters had a great time at the ballet yesterday. Recommended a brunch place, and they fell in love with it. It has been a few years since I was last there, so glad to see it made it through Covid.
Went to an intermediate bridge lesson today and realized that both of us need a refresher course. I leave each cruise with the best of intentions of trying to find a group of local players at a comparable level, but Covid blocked us the first time, and my few attempts last year were unsuccessful. I didn’t try too hard though. We have played with good and experienced players, and many don’t like playing with us. I already feel stupid playing, I don’t need anyone to promote feeling even more stupid! Soooo many rules. I need a cheat sheet!
Sun’s gone already.

Farting around. The roast beast is almost.done cooking. Just need to let it rest then I'll eat and head to the inlaws. Get the triplets' presents off my living room floor. When I get home the utmost excitement of doing laundry will commence. Woo Hoo. Not.

And flight is canceled. If we were only going down for Christmas, we would just go home and tough it out. But I'm trying to get to a funeral 😔
