H. is flabbergasted at how much school supplies supposedly cost to get kids into school. $100 A lot of the supplies can be carried forward from year to year like a pencil bag, 3 ring binder, pencil sharpener, back packs for books. Paper punch, stapler. Middle school kids have to have a graphing calculator.
it's been a minute since I've been in middle school, but why is this a must have? they aren't learning that kind of math in middle school. Only if they're a really advanced middle-schooler. Our school supply list for 7th/8th grade says scientific calculator for Algebra 1 and Geometry and graphing calculator for Algebra 2 on up.

It was 62 this morning and I was grumbling about it in my skort and t-shirt. I decided I like the coffee I'm using up better as iced. I forgot to make it Wednesday night. I had a coupon on my card for a $2 grande at the grocery store Starbucks so I ran there.
I turned the seat heater on. It took forever for summer to arrive, no leaving early!!

Peaches have been fabulous this summer! Eating one each morning and evening and have made 3 peach pies. Went to indoor farmers market again Tuesday and bought another 3 pounds. Sadly this batch was awful, mealy and flavorless. Yuck threw out the two we tasted. Googled what to do and found simple recipe. Didn’t want to spend time and effort and end up with more yucky
simple recipe. Peel (with my new fabulous Oxo peeler!) and cut up. Cook on low with tablespoon vanilla and cinnamon. Surprise!! The peach flavor is back. Thinking I’ll use as peach jam or toppings. Also have a pork chop recipe using peach jam

Loving the photos of kitties, pups, little owl snd the Colorado frog The frog is on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. It's been there since it opened in 1977. I'm sure there has been work done but I'm happy it's still there. There are some other animals for kids to play on, too.

Mister left early this morning to take YD to college. I asked her last night if she was excited, she said no. I asked a little nervous? Yes. About what, the unknown since it’s something different? Yes. I told her I understand, I feel some type of way too when it comes to major change and not knowing what to expect. I told her, you’ll get use to it, and you’ll be fine. I have confidence in you. You got this!
So are we empty nesters now? Or is that after the children have successfully launched? We haven’t had the house to ourselves for more than a week or 2 after we moved here. School started a couple weeks after we moved here, and that’s when the girls started staying here because it was easier for them to get back and forth to school. So it will be different with neither of them here, or coming and going, unless they are home on break.

Back from the vet. Of course, Maddow howled all the way there and then was not about to get out of the carrier.
Vet got him out and he didn't even flinch for the shots or the nail clipping. Vet told me they charge $12 to clip nails. I think that's easier than the fight I go through.
He did suggest trying putting him in a different environment, like the garage, and see if he will let me do it while sitting on a table. Since the cats don't go in the garage, that is a change of environment.
Now he won't come near me.

Mister used to clip OG’s nails himself, and now he does Newbie’s. She doesn’t like it, but she lets him do it without putting up a big fight.

Bought dental insurance for first time Jerseyguy will be having expensive surgery then 2 crowns. Starts this September so will help even with $750 deductible for only one of the 2 surgeries/crowns
Never had except for one employer and then was for max of $1500/year
So this insurance has no max / year although covers most of the really expensive procedures only 1x year

I have a coworker who has a litter of nine puppies. They are driving her crazy lol. They are 5 weeks old and she hasn’t found homes for any of them yet. i asked her this morning to send me a picture of them, and she sent me a video. I just showed it to Mister and he got goo goo eyed, even as he said that he’d said he’d never get attached to another dog. Then he asked me can we get 2. LOL! No sir! We can maybe get ONE. i have a feeling that there is a good chance we’ll have a puppy soon. He’s already picked out his first, second and third choice lol. As long as he’s willing to be the one to escort the puppy outside, especially at night, until it’s big enough that the huge birds and coyotes don’t get it, I’m okay with a puppy. I don’t mind doing the training, I enjoy working with dogs. But I’m not use to living somewhere I have to beware of wild animals posing a danger to a small puppy. I will talk about it to my coworker tomorrow.. Good luck. I'm not getting a puppy ever again. It's too much work.

As someone who had two puppies the exact same age at the same time, the answer is no. At least not in my experience. It's twice the chewing of my stuff, twice the teething thus getting bitten twice as often, twice the training etc. It has turned me off to puppies all together.

I just got back from the mall. It has been years since I was last there, and there are a lot of stores shuttered. There are a few new ones there though.
I wanted to go to Ulta, and needed to stop at Target for sunscreen. As we are going carry on only, I needed to find sunscreen sold in less than 3 oz. I also picked up a couple of small 3 oz containers.
I have no idea how TD plans on packing his diving gear he’s taking in only a carry on.

No. You shouldn't get two puppies at once because it makes them really hard to train. They get too busy bonding with each other and not their human. This is what I was going to say, and even more so for litter mates. You can join them back up when they're older, but better not to raise them together. Tell me about it. The twins are pretty good, but they could be better as far as listening when told to do something.

We must be making progress on the cleaning out. I just spent about an hour in DS room and the teaching room and we have like half a brown paper sack of things to donate.

I spoke to my friend, who's in rehab now. She's very upset. She knows I don't like her idiot boyfriend. She knows her sister doesn't like him and had him banned from the hospital. Now she found out that her duaghter can't stand him and the neighbours want nothing to do do with him because he's an asshole. Shouldn't that should tell her something?
But Nooooo! He's her angel and she doesn't want to talk about it. At this point, I see her as a Trumper. No matter how egregious or offensive his beaviour is, he's her angel. Damn!

I will talk about it to my coworker tomorrow.. Good luck. I'm not getting a puppy ever again. It's too much work. Well, I have someone to do some of the dirty work for me, like cleaning up messes during house training and taking the puppy outside. I must just be weird, because I don’t mind puppies. I think it might be good for Newbie to have another dog. She loves playing with DS’s dog when he comes over. They can chase each other through the house or outside for hours and hours. He’s so tiny though that sometimes she knocks him over unintentionally. OG did not play with Newbie at all. Newbie would try sometimes, but OG wouldn’t cooperate. I told Mister if we get one of the puppies, I’d prefer a male. Mister isn’t too keen on male dogs. But I believe having a male and a female, has a better chance for success than 2 of the same gender. I am pretty sure we will get one. I forwarded him pics today that my coworker sent me of the mother and father. They are both nice size dogs. Neither of us wants a small dog. The dad looks almost like Newbie, white socks and all. They both look like they are either pitties or pittie mixes. I told him today that since I’m only willing to have 2 dogs at a time, if we get the free puppy, we avoid me saying in the near future that I’m ready to get a Bullmastiff. Ever since my Bullmastiff died, I said I was going to get another one one day, and I still want to. And back in 2004, a Bullmastiff from a breeder that was serious about their dogs, cost at least $1400. I have no idea how much they cost now. Coworker said she’ll give us a puppy if we want one. I’m pretty sure we’ll have a puppy when they are old enough to leave their Momma. Another thing is, she has nine puppies, if she can’t find good homes for them, what happens to them? She’s definitely not going to keep all of them. She already has 3 dogs and 2 or 3 cats, She doesn’t let her children play with the puppies, and she tries to stay detached from them while she tends to them, because she says she gets attached so easily that if she’s not careful, she’ll want to keep all of them lol. We can only take one, but that will at least be one that’s in a good home and well taken care of. I really hope she finds good homes for all of them.

I don't know if it's the same quality, will find out.
Walmart has Vanity Fair bras! They only had a couple of styles, but where they are $40 at Pennys and 50% off a second, still cost a lot, these were only $15. I ended up buying another brand, that is really comfortable but about the same price. The whole back is some type of elastic, different.
Then I found a pair of Avia shoes. Avia? for real? They were $20! I didn't need any but bought a pair to see how they hold up. They even have bigger and wider sizes this time. I bought plain white as they were cheaper, the peach colored Avia's had a sign $27.98, but since they are summer, might have been on sale. So far these feel good. Very good cushioning, not the really hard back, but not many have that anymore. I think they are firm enough. Most now are knit which I don't care for.
I was killing time, bad move, I spend money. Got a pair of Levi shorts on sale $11 and a white shirt for my black and white shorts for $3.78. The Time and Tru brand of clothing they are carrying anymore are pretty good quality too. But if they have better quality clothing and shoes they are going to put the remaining retail stores out of business and I hate to see that.

Don't know how that will work in the winter. If it doesn't work like watching the vet clip the nails, they will go to the vet for nail clipping.

CG, Walmart has had these brands for years. My DSis loved to walk around in Walmart and buy things, clothing and household . It was a way to get her exercise. If you are careful and look closely at the items they’re fine. Yes does sell shoddy products but some are fine. Mostly plain and certainly not fashionable as macys or Nordstrom’s! But then all of these stores are getting from China. Personally I don’t shop in Macy now. I get too annoyed at the coupons sent but when trying to use them, there’s a long list of tiny print excluded items. So no

Maybe they did in the bigger stores, but we didn't get them here in podunk, USA. I was really surprised today. Anyway, I will see how these shoes wear. But I like pretty ones, have some Easy Spirit with prints of flowers that I had never seen before. Also bought yellow, blue, pink, red, and other colors. And have purses to match as much as possible. I had to wear such ugly shoes most of my life, I overdo it now.
And yes groceries are awful. A jar of mayo at our local grocer was $6.75 and across the street at the Dollar store, same brand was $4.75. Pineapple chunks there $1.50, just better prices for most items. Everytime I go in it's $40 to $60 for not a lot. Blue Belle ice cream $7.99 a half gallon. And on and on.
We have a local restaurant in town, I had not been to for a while. The menu is awesome, they have greek food, had a salad with lamb. Have things like tazaki (sp?), all kinds of items like that, gyros. I could not believe the items of healthy food. They also serve breakfast all day so what did we have? Not healthy, LOL! DD had biscuits and gravy, I had eggs over easy, toast, hash browns, and sausage. Sooooo good.
We got our hair cut too, our beautician does such a good job. I LOVE her cuts, next week hope to get it dyed again.
The 21st is hubbys birthday he will catch up with me and be 76. He wants an ice cream cake from DQ and ordered himself a new router and some type of table he needs to work on the rent house. He said both together were about the same price as the table so just got it. I would still like to get him something, he said don't. Maybe some nuts and candy would be good. We have a bakery that makes good items, wish they did breads. We need a real bakery in town that does. I need to get up early and get in the habit of baking it again.

I told DD today, what we need to do to visualize how much weight we have lost is think about 5 pound bags of sugar or flour.
I told her realize that she has taken off 12, 5 pound bags, off her body. Think about stacking all those bags up and carrying on her body again. Same for me, I have 8 bags less I'm carrying. Looks like my foot would be doing even better. I'm sure I really do need to get to 140 but don't think it's going to happen. For my feet yes, but might look rather skeletal, the PA said losing too much as you get older won't make you look the same as when young, of course, I realize that. But at 21 I was 5'9'1/4" and weighed between 118 and 120, now I'm about 5'7 1/2" and weight around 152 to 155. Now I've reduced my dose of Ozempic, don't really see me losing more. But again, you never know. I really pay attention during the day to the amount of calories I and DD are taking in.

I'm not sure wtf is wrong with my firewall, but most pics don't load for me. 👎 also, Pink - with those white markings on some, there's at least something bully breed in them. whatever their mix, I want squish all of them 💗

Somebody was just blowing up my phone and I finally answered. They asked if I was DD’s name. Nope. They asked if I was *my real name*. Maybe, WHY?
He said DD had me as a co-signer on some loan she got. Negative! I’ve never co-signed a loan for DD. He said “the creditor is about to take both of you to court, but you can avoid that by settling it today.”
Me: *My real name” will not pay any amount of money to settle ANYTHING to settle something she didn’t sign for.
Him: Well tell her to call us.
And he hung up lol.
I told DD about it and she said she doesn’t know who that could’ve been, she hasn’t gotten any loans or used my name on anything.
It kinda doesn’t even really matter. Even if she did, I wouldn’t pay because I have signed anything saying I took responsibility for a loan for ANYBODY. And my whole family should know by now not to play like that with me, because I don’t play about my money and I’ll throw my own Momma under the bus if she stole from me or used me to commit fraud.
