Went to help out with the dog again tonight. Something happened to that dog, it's just so not normal. He acts all happy to see you until you open the kennel gate, then he cowers in the corner and just shakes hard all over, it's hearbreaking. We literally drug him out tonight, but the second he is outside of the kennel he transforms to all happy and excited to be around people with not a hint of being scared. It's like he's terrified to go through the gate. I thought he was a recent adoptee, but he's not. They got him as a puppy in 2019. Awww... poor thing. When I first got my little Yorkie she was afraid of everything. She would cower and shake uncontrollably and usually vomit. I tried putting her on a leash. She was afraid of it. Finally got her used to it. Tried to walk her down the sidewalk and she was afraid of that. She was afraid of traffic, riding in the car, thunderstorms, lightening, you name it. Surprisingly she wasn't afraid of people. That little dog loved everyone. It took a while, but eventually she warmed up to things and did just fine. She was the best little dog! I wish I could have her back again She was a rescue from an Amish puppy mill.

We have another $700M energy deal coming to our county. That makes 4, this one is gas. This place may have high priced real estate yet. It was just announced today.

What a sweet little kitty. Don't be to harsh on your mom Ava, maybe she couldn't be as quick as she needed to be to catch your kitty. We slow down as we get older. I understand your feelings. Even hubs said tonight, what if the neighbors at the new place had a dog or doesn't like cats as mine get out and roam. I had already thought of that. Here's my sweet little Smokey laying where and how he likes at night. He snuggles up beside me. www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1252745305528490&set=a.131741380962227Yes, he is totally, spoiled rotten. One of my little loves.

I couldn’t get a very clear screen shot, but this is the owl. What a cutie! Is that a Northern Saw-Whet Owl? What kind of puppies?

Holy grocery cost Batman. I have been saying for months that I am glad I don't have to feed teen boys right now. For just me, even with the hefty price increases, it is NBD but in a coup!e of hours I will head to SFO to pick up DS2, DDIL, and my grandbabies (boys but at 8 and 5 not yet human food vacuums), so I hit the stores to buy food for a week for the five of us. It did not help that I shopped with a mindset of "oh,s/he loves that" so into the shopping carts the items went. But still... Yeah. I get what you're saying. I went to pick up a few things at the grocery store, on Monday. I only need to buy for me, although I do buy food to take for lunch occasionally, when I babysit. This time, I didn't buy any lunch stuff, because they started preschool this week. I was pretty frugal in my selections and maybe bought enough to last me a week. I spent $330.00! NEVER have I spent that much, for a weeks worth of food. Not even when I had other people I was feeding! Normally, I spend about $50-75 per week. Holy Moly! And I didn't stock up on anything. There were a lot of things I would have purchased, but I could tell I was spending too much, so I held back. The only meat I got were a few hamburger patties. Enjoy the time you spend with your family. I hope it is delightful!

Good morning, illustrious invisipeeps. Welcome to Thursday. I hope yours is a superior day wherein lost things are found and your advice is adhered to.
I'm off shortly to see the sunrise over the bay. It will take me about 10 minutes to get there with Franklin the Dog, and we'll find out if the time of sunrise means when the sun is just breaking past the horizon or when it is fully up.
Trash is out, dishes done, so we're good to go.

Let us know!

You are right, toomuchreality. Sun rise is when the sun completely rises above the horizon.

So cute pictures of puppies and kittie. Thank you Pink and Ava! Today was supposed to be my day of adult conversation with the stitching. It looks like my stitching group may be falling apart. I know summer and all that. I'm not sure what I am going to do now.

Gira - it's hard when you finally get time with friends and many flake. Been there.
Saw Joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat last night. Had no info going in, except I do know the Bible story. Great show, even better performance. It was over too quickly.

Finally got to sleep in a little. Been working a weird schedule where I WFH from 5:30-8:30am this week because Carrot has marching band practice starting at 9, but today was Jr. High orientation before that so I just dropped him off early and went into work at my normal 7:30. Tomorrow his brother can take him to band and next week school starts! A consistent schedule again! I hate having every week be different.

I don't think we'll get a consistent schedule for another few weeks, yet. The peanut and the missy start school next week, but it's three half days. Which is not useful, especially given that one starts on Wednesday and one starts on Thursday.
DD1 starts school on 9/1. DS starts school on 10/1.

Well, oldest doesn't start school until 9/6, but I don't really count him anymore as his schedule doesn't really affect mine. I don't have to do anything for him except drive him up with all his crap sometime between now and and then. He's going to work until next Thursday and then he wants to get up there ASAP.
Of course, he hasn't done a single thing I asked him to do this summer before he goes like get new clothes, schedule a physical and eye appointment, buy something to hang his clothes on in his new place (he has no closet), find out what size his bed is so he can get sheets...stuff like that. But, not my problem. I mean, all he REALLY had to do was tell Grandma what he wanted/needed and she would have bought it all. But he didn't so...

You are much braver than I. Last time I went rollerskating, I was 19, completely sober and I crashed into the kitchen wall and fractured my ankle. Yeah, haven't skated since and I LOVE rollerskating. Too chicken shit to try again. And allow me to re-emphasize that I was STONE. COLD. SOBER. And my father was stone cold pissed when he got home and had to drive me to the hospital. Friend asked me to go with her, her son and niece! They were little and friend did not skate and said she felt better if I was out on floor with them. One crash to floor and three hours of surgery later my wrist was put back together with the help of pin. I was 48. I did get back on inline skates just once to say I had skated again. But that was it and I loved skating. But go for it snapdragon and have a kickass good time. Jealous. I refuse to do inline skates...I have ice skated before but having 2 wheels per side is my preferred method of skating. I did get knee, wrist and elbow pads just in case...

I'm out on the deck, unwinding. I had to swap out my tank top for a long sleeved tshirt, for the first time since spring. that's one of my most hated calendar milestones, acknowledging that fall is coming. Me too. On the way to work this morning I was grumbling about it being 57 degrees in August.

I actually woke up early, early and am now at work early. I really hope I drank enough tea for today. Otherwise I'll have to heat water for more.

H. is flabbergasted at how much school supplies supposedly cost to get kids into school. $100 A lot of the supplies can be carried forward from year to year like a pencil bag, 3 ring binder, pencil sharpener, back packs for books. Paper punch, stapler. Middle school kids have to have a graphing calculator.
it's been a minute since I've been in middle school, but why is this a must have? they aren't learning that kind of math in middle school. Mine needed one in 8th grade. That was 10-12 years ago for them. I do not remember what courses they were taking then, but they did get used.

Along with taking Maddow to the vet today, I am also taking the ashes of my very first cat and Lucy to be transferred to the beautiful urns I bought 2 years ago.
Guess I needed a good cry because I sat and held Benjamin's ashes, that I have had since January of 1994, and bawled for a couple of hours. He was the best cat ever and I've never had another one like him. Lucy was a close second, but Benjamin is my forever baby.
