Have survived our Halloween party. Need to go to work now. Haven’t been reading much here this week. Hugs and high-fives as appropriate. I’ll check in this evening.

It's like a ghost town at work today. Though, I wouldn't be here, either, but I have my yearly drs appointment today, and it's more convenient to come into work.

DS actually chose to wear gloves to work this morning. Yes, it is THAT cold out. Going from no jackets needed to 27 degrees in a couple of days is humbling.

Well, got blocked on FB last night by someone that I should have cut off long ago. No biggie. Started off about abortion (posted by a man), which I am sick of seeing. Don't want one don't get one, it is that simple. This is not really about that though. (The comments about how women should not have sex if they can't deal with the consequences was a contributor on my rampage.) I aired my own dirty laundry, because I am not ashamed and would do it all over again - that I had 2 kids and raised them without the assistance of their fathers or the government. 2 kids that were the first college graduates in any generation from both sets of my grandparents very large families. I am talking at least 200 aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, that I actually knew and grew up around. What got me was the remark that I should chosen better - from a man who cheated on his first wife (who he had a child with) and then left her for second wife (who had family $$$). Excuse the eff out of me? Guess his first wife should have chosen better. And someone who threw out the "my body my choice" when it came to the Covid vaccine and then spent 8 months in the hospital with Covid and has not worked in 3 years - never will again. Paid no hospital bill and is now on SSDI - but that is ok because he paid in? Funny how people have no issue with handouts when it helps them. He is 2 years older than me. He was also not so appreciative when I quoted bible verses, which he also did in his OP. Good riddance. I hate people like that. Believe what you want to believe. However, at no time do your beliefs override mine.

Bio nut texted teen last night right at the start of Halloween festivities and mere mins after teen posted a ridiculously hilarious pic of herself in inflatable baby costume on Instagram. Manipulative much?! - FTR I can't get teen to block her on social media ...yet but every stunt moves her closer. Teen did say she messed up and shoulda only posted it on her secret account.
Nut was texting teen that she has a 1 telehealth psych appt today that she can only take from nut's residence. So back to the same stunt that made teen skip appt last week. Teen told me but said I wanna enjoy my night so don't talk about it til tomorrow. She had 3 good hours of Halloween fun with friends and then shut down and had a seizure about an hour later.
I've set it up that she can take telehealth appt at school to remove myself from the equation. Apparently part of bio nut's text last night included don't bother getting social services involved bc they can't help you. This morning teen is refusing to engage with nut via text and asked that I tag in school social worker to attempt to get nut to cooperate. What a frickin' mess but at least it's all documented via email that teen and I are trying to make appt happen.
Teen said how is it far that my mom gets to schedule appts with no concern for my school schedule or your work schedule and then give us less than 24 hour notice. I just nodded bc I'm fuming about all of this. I did say that once teen gets through this appt, she should ask to psych to only schedule every other month to cut down on the nonsense. Nut has likely succeeded in getting teen not to bother to ask for increased depression meds. Will remind teen that was needed just before appt if appt happens in safe way.
Nut started this morning by texting teen demanding to know why she left school early yesterday. Um, she got pulled from class because of the doubled up therapist appt that you made. I didn't realize that she's harassing teen via text for every attendance update. There are no words for that kind of nonsense.
Meanwhile there is no word on oral surgery. Sent a msg to school head social worker for update as it's been two weeks since that all fell apart and we've not been clued into any progress. I get that the system takes forever, but they will be hearing from me weekly to keep teen's needs top of mind.

I had about 20 kids stop by last night for TOTing.
I'm glad I did not buy the big bag of candy at Costco. I actually bought 3 smaller bags at CVS when they had the "buy 2, get 1 free" sale. And one of the bags I chose was Almond Joy. No TOTers got Almond Joy. I saved that back only to be used if I ran out of the other candy.
So I'm left with about 20 pieces of KitKat and Hershey bars. The Almond Joy is almost gone. I made the mistake of opening it on the 29th and the pile is getting smaller and smaller.

Azucena- Have you read anything like "Stop Walking on Eggshells" or "Toxic Parents" or "I Hate You, don't leave me?" Arm chair diagnosing, here. Nut sounds pretty similar to my mom.
I know there are a lot of fires you are trying to put out. I wouldn't think BT would get much of this yet, but these books could help you. I'm also wondering if you've contacted NAMI. It's been a while since I've looked, but NAMI in my neck of the woods had a support group for those whose lives are touched by others with untreated personality disorders pre-Covid.

Ouch. I won't complain about my insurance anymore. I just changed carriers today and dropped homeowners from $2540 (which was bound to increase in January when it renewed) to $2219 and auto from $2268 to $1180, so cut about $1400. Pretty happy with the money savings, but kind of regretting I had to change the homeowners to do so because I did have a very good policy with State Farm. The initial quote they gave me for home was way lower and they didn't let me adjust coverage until after I'd secured the auto part, so I was stuck. I may go back to State Farm next year if they get the auto down, but I don't think I'd be able to get the same .5% homeowners deductible anymore. I stayed with AAA because they were the only company giving me a flat deductible. It's $2,500, but everyone else wanted percentages which were high and went up every year. I've only ever had one HO insurance claim in my entire life, so I figured it was a safe bet. My HO insurance is $2K which is cheap around here. My car insurance is $1,600/year which IMO is high, but nobody could beat it and I quoted it everywhere! Well, my neighborhood had hail damage in May. We got a payout for our roof of about $27,000. We had dimensional shingles which have something like a 25 year expected life, but our house is 19 years old. I thought we had a depreciated value policy b/c DH told me he killed it at one point and restarted it for a lower rate. Idk if he just did the auto or what, but they are not going to stay in business paying those kind of claims every year or even every 5 years without raising prices. I would just caution when comparing premiums to make sure the coverage terms are similar. My husband is a captive agent for one of the larger insurance companies. We don't shop our insurance, b/c DH believes he should know his product.

If it's natural gas, like for a stove, water heater or furnace, then there is no tank. Do you have natural gas from the city? Yes! I just went down to the basement and the furnace is directly below it. So do they just check it when they come and service the furnace? I was going to see about getting that done soon since it's getting cold. Also, do I need to have a chimney person come and inspect it, or does it run through the ducts like the furnace does? I've never had a fireplace before so I'm so lost! My HVAC company checks the gas fireplace when they check the fireplace. I don't think larger companies do. This is a small family owned (father and 3 sons who are now the owners) business. My fireplace is a direct vent. There isn't a chimney. Just looks like there is on the inside. The gas runs through the vents.
