I'm doing pretty good today. The guys are working their butts off, lot of stuff is upstairs now. I'm going through boxes and have emptied several that just had a few things in them. They left to have lunch and will be back. I told hubs we need to pay them more then $100 for today, they have busted their butts and no way could we have gotten that stuff out of the basement. He gave the one guy a welder, but we still need to give them some cash.
I am bringing up stuff that is light weight. They are also going to do my landscaping for me! YES, YES, YES. So tomorrow. they are doing that. That will help me a lot.
I took off more clothing and fabric plus the old TV.I'm going downstairs and vacuum over half the basement and box some stuff up in the last 2 rooms. One of the guys is taking the old sofa down there and a nice mattress we have.

I finally got a dry van operation to write! What is dry van? Just run of the mill "stuff" basically. All my accounts are specialized like fuels haulers, frac chemical haulers, waste haulers, ect. Finally one that's easy! I'm pretty pumped.

Sold my old mower that the transmission was going out on on Facebook for $400. Let's see if the guy actually shows up. He's coming from a couple hours away and said he'd be to my house by 5:30. I'm hoping a mower brings a better class of buyers than the PS5 and cell phones did.

I found a channel showing old shows. Last one was The Love Boat, now The Odd Couple. Jack Klugman and Tony Randall were hysterical together.
Not gonna cook tonight, think we are going out for Mexican tonight to avoid turning on the stove.

When I talked to J last night, he was wear a new robe with a sash. He was quite proud of the frogs on his robe. Then he decided to open the sash and put himself on display. DN1 said he looks like Hugh Hefner. Of course, J had no idea of why we were all laughing. He does not like being laughed at and told us to stop laughing. He immediately noticed that the scabs on my nose are gone. But two weeks from today, it will be an open wound. I can't wait until J is old enough to understand the reference He may never be told what his dad said about him.

Heat index here finally cracked the 100 mark. we're close where I am, likely saved b/c the coast is right there. it's almost 20 degrees (actual, not heat index) cooler at mooch and M's place than here at mine. I already set my alarm for earlier than usual tomorrow, going to let the pups out stupid early to play in the splash pad before it gets too hot. it was already 80 at 9am today.

WARNING: this post contains some random ranting and rambling. Please feel free to scroll past it.
Around the time that Mister’s Mom first went in the hospital, he started using his job as an escape and an excuse for certain things. I recognized it at the time, and understood that he was probably doing that because what he needs to do at work is very clear and there are rules regarding everything, so that was easier to deal with than all of the unknowns regarding the situations that were unfolding with his parents. At work, there was some rule somewhere, that gave him guidance on how to address problems, personal life doesn’t come with those kind of rules and guidance and even when you do the best you can with what you know at the time, the outcome is still unpredictable, and there are no rules or guidance for what you should do next.
He works for the federal government, as do I, and if the federal government does nothing else, they have a lot of rules for their employees and more rules regarding following the rules, so I understood Mister’s work becoming his safe place when so much was happening in his personal life and he was flying by the seat of his pants trying to fix it all, while so much of trying to “fix” everything had no rules and was ultimately out of his control, no matter what he did to try to fix things.
So a couple months after his Dad passed, he got the promotion where he is the HMIC of his department in a “new” building. That has given him even more reason to use his job as an escape and excuse.
I am over it. I have told him that I’m not okay with his job taking over our whole lives.
Because the building is “new”, he only has one official supervisor working for him, and it is a 24/7/365 building. Because it’s a “new” building, Mister has to jump through a lot of hoops and submit a lot of paperwork to justify why he needs more supervisors. I understand that it is a long, slow process, because I work for the federal government too, and even though I am just a peon, I’ve worked for the federal government long enough to know that it takes forever to get anything done.
Week before last, he got upset because the 1 supervisor he has, had been mandated to attend classes for 2 weeks, starting today, which means that Mister has to do everything and has no one to delegate tasks to. We have talked enough about his job that I do understand how much of a big deal that is.
So he was getting all worked up about that. Saturday morning, I finally told him that fretting and fussing about the next 2 weeks wasn’t going to change anything, so he should just try to relax and enjoy his weekend. Work out a game plan if necessary, if he needed to, and just do that, but otherwise just let it go and enjoy his days off work and deal with Monday (today) when it came.
My issue is that he has allowed his job to take up so much of his mental space, and his life. Before he got this latest promotion, he’d just learned how to take a vacation right. Meaning that he had just figured out that he could take a week off work for a scheduled vacation, and not know what to do with himself besides cut the vacation short and go back to work after a couple of days.
His managers before he got his latest promotion, believed in having a balance between personal life and work life, and encouraged it, and now his responsibilities are greater than theirs were and are. But while he seemed to learn a lot from them about how to do his job, it seems he missed the parts about balancing work and his personal life and well being.
So now, his position is higher than theirs are, he has a “work” phone now, and a work issued laptop so he can handle business without being on site. I get it about the work ethic and being physically present, but I don’t really get it about not taking time off work, even for a scheduled vacation. I do get it about the added pressure without the 1 supervisor not being there for the next 2 weeks. But besides that, what is the point in being a “boss” if you can’t take time off occasionally, to tend to yourself and your family, especially if you schedule and plan for it it in advance? Maybe I just don’t get it it because I am a peon and my work day starts when I get to work, and ends when my shift is over.
I am not going to beg him to go to the seminar with me for my side gig in October, because he has forced me to learn over the last couple of years, that I CAN travel by myself, and actually enjoy it. So while I’d prefer he go with me, I am also good with going by myself this fall. Before I went to New Orleans by myself for the seminar in 2022, I was terrified at the thought of traveling by myself. But y’all told me I could do it, and I did it, and it was AWESOME!
Then I flew to Pittsburgh a couple months ago, with the crutches of my boss and his go to guy being on the same flights, which was comforting, because I wasn’t totally alone, but it showed me that I could fly by myself and the whole trip confirmed that I can even navigate an unknown city by myself, if I need to.
So Mister can keep using “work” as an excuse, but I’m not going to let that keep me from trying to live the life I want to live, as much as I can.

Good morning all. Power went out about 15 minutes ago. Crazy rain and much more to follow, winds will get much higher in an hour or so. Has it come back yet?

DH and I were able to go through the house across the street today, which is coming up for auction on Saturday. We are undecided on whether we want to buy and renovate it. It is in better shape than we expected as far as being water tight and structurally sound. It would need all new electric, plumbing, heat, and cooling. The wood floors look solid where the 1970s linoleum has peeled up. We think we could get it super cheap due to all the work that is needed.
My biggest concern is the very steep and winding staircase. It comes up in between two bedrooms that are on slightly different levels. To go from one room to the other, you would have to walk across the staircase on the width of one step, with an open drop on one side. I told DH that if we bought it to rent out, we would need to find a way to reconfigure the stairs, because it is a recipe for a liability lawsuit as soon as someone falls down the stairs. I can tell that I am already annoying him with my caution about the stairs, because he is a lot more risk tolerant than I am. At least he does realize it would be harder than normal to rent it out with super steep stairs.
His biggest concern is that someone buys it, demolishes the house (which is a historic log house) and then builds a new house or commercial building that is out of the character of the neighborhood. I think something new could look nice, but I don't mind buying it to fix up and rent out if we can address the safety issue with the stairs. As long as we don't end up in an argument on what needs to be done, which is starting to concern me.

I learned today what the song Take a Walk on the Wild Side was about.
There's no point to this. I'm just mostly surprised, and not surprised, that a man can actually say giving head in a song in 1972, and that is fine. Yet in when ever it was (I can't look up the date WAP) recently, that Cardi B sings about WAP, and folks get up in arms.

Men getting BJs: accepted of course men love and deserve BJs. They are men. It's normal for men to constantly think of sex.
Cardi B is not only a woman but an African American woman singing proudly about her naughty bits and enjoying sex.
That is not acceptable. Women exist for men's pleasure. We do not own our lady parts those are a prize to be handed over to a dude by your father upon marriage.
Or accordingto some men our parts are there to dominate even if we refuse.
Women lie there and think of England while men get off.
That's why people lose their minds over WAP.
It's not my music genre but I still have mad respect for the song.

It was such a visual. I could just see the shaving of the legs and plucking eyebrows I know this wasn’t the point of your post and I wish I had an answer except people just have to have something to piss and moan about. They would probably have gone into cardiac arrest when Relax came out.

I decided to organize my closet a bit.
Me: I think I have too many clothes.
DH: You think? Maybe donate some?
Me: Noooo! My vintage babies!😭
I actually have been going through to find things that no longer fit or suit my style but I own I'm a massive clothes horse still.
I've also upcycled and made my own creations It's a creative and stress outlet for me. I made something with my hands and it's something I get immediate award looking at my finished product and showing it off to DH.
I just did one with Dolly Parton. I proceeded to bedazzle her earrings with pink crystals because it's freaking Dolly she needs pink sparkles!
Then I did Freddy Mercury. Though about adding some sparkle to him too but the graphic really pops as is. Freddy needs no help standing out from the crowd.

Speaking of old music. Carrot discovered my 70's/80's CD collection and is in heaven. I have a huge tote full of them that was tucked away in the basement for years and he thinks he won the lottery. I'm kind of wishing I would never have sold all my old LPs, he would have loved those too.

Got a friend on the way to spend the night with us as she has a disease that makes the heat very, very bad for her. I hope we can all get some sleep tonight.
We spent the afternoon in the yard like all our neighbors picking up tree debris. We will go over the front yard tomorrow again.

Tomorrow need to go to the 2 end rooms with a lot of my COVID stash stuff. I can't take all of it so have to get rid of some. It's hard to do so. These are things we can use, just not today or tomorrow.
I saw someone put on Facebook free everything. Sounds like the aftermath of a yard sale so basically they said come and get it. I told hubs I'm going to end up spending the money I made getting work done. But that's ok, we need help.
My feet are hurting and I have been limping around all evening. We needed TP so hubs went down to get it. I will be happy to not have a basement, it's difficult to get up and down after so many treks. I took a bath in pretty hot water, it felt so good on my feet and ankles.
I noticed today, hubs went downstairs a few times to help and he was really sweating after going up and down a few times. He is right, he just can't do that anymore. I am happy he recognizes his limits. He is aware or he wouldn't be willing to spend for people to help. That worries me.
I have been eating odd things today. Had a roast beef sandwich, then a ham and cheese, this evening bean soup with peppericinies, then some mandarin oranges. And now some olives, this is just weird. Good thing I'm not young or I would be worrying if I were expecting. Probably just a nutrient I'm missing in my diet.

Good morning, music aficianado invisipeeps, organizing and staying safe. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope your day proves enriching in the best ways, and that you avoid overwhelming heat. Whelming heat, okay, but not overwhelming. countrygirl2 , it's possible you are short on electrolytes and so crave salt, potassium, vitamin C and the like. Follow your tastes is my advice. My XH was a very controlling bully by the time we divorced. He was also a big collector including of music. We had 2 CD cabinets exactly alike, organized alphabetically by band. As our possessions needed to be split I told him he could have the M-Z cabinet. I'd take A-L. He was furious. He'd envisioned going through all of the hundreds, picking out what he wanted. I was unwilling to spend that time in his presence. I reasoned that all the good bands didn't start with the first or last half of the alphabet. I switched and kept the last half. And that is how I ended up with the complete Rolling Stones, Steve Winwood and ZZ Top, and he got the Beatles and Grateful Dead. I still have mine. Today is DD's first training day on the floor working with patients. She's ready, I think. Next step is for her to get her bearings on her income and buy a car. That will take a while, but it's all good. Yesterday we went to a gallery which had invited us to provide pictures for this month's show. I and DH each offered two and were interviewed briefly by the very local press. THe opening is this Friday. Today I definitely must go through our pictures, make sure each is tagged and wrapped properly for transport, and organize by theme or subject, ready for the next show. It was densely foggy yesterday and quite warm. The no-see-ums were biting so I didn't spend much time on the still beach. I did get some pictures of a scalloping boat leaving for deep water, a lonely lifeguard stand and this, a wild sweet pea growing near the dunes:

I'm up. I should not be up.
I'm tired of this weirdness with my sleep. I need more than 5 hours of a sleep a night.

I'm up. I should not be up. I'm tired of this weirdness with my sleep. I need more than 5 hours of a sleep a night. I am letting out a little of the grief I had not released ... which is helping but that is not getting me even to 5 hrs sleep a night which I would love. Not sure what I am at, just that I use a couple tricks to hopefully get to 2 hrs. sleep first round and more than an hour second round. Sigh. NO results after calling the big practice so I might have to figure out how to leave a note to whomever in the Patient Portal. WHY ARE YOU CALLING? The Patient Portal sees all knows all. There are things posted in the Portal. Please review them before calling us again. THE PPS HAS SPOKEN. (Patient Portal Speaker of the SW)
My main concern is getting a scrip for what I would not have needed had I just tried to renew it one calendar day earlier; and now since that doctor retired in spring it is a comedy of nonsense. Or perhaps just a bunch of monkeys screeching 'not yours' before scampering away. My appointment for me had one purpose to get that scrip filled as soon as reasonable, not be ushered into the wees and be asked to do medical tests I don't need. She said she was doing this appointment from home, which did explain when the sw using FaceTime crashed and we did the rest of the appointment audio only. Sigh.
